Re: No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball w/ReBuys (WSOP Event 18)

The only other written reference on lowball draw besides what has already been mentioned that I know of is Play Poker to Win by Amarillo Slim. There's a chapter on no-limit lowball draw. It makes many of the same points as the Reuben/Ciaffone book, except in a less precise folksy voice. It also includes a long description of a hand of A-5 played against James "Tennessee Longoodie" Roy and Johnny Moss.

A pat jack is generally a favourite over a one-card draw - however, it's not the kind of hand you'll be betting and raising with a lot on the end.

NL 2-7 is pure poker - a small amount of maths, and a whole heap of people reading skills is what you need to succeed.

In my opinion, NL 2-7 Triple Draw is a completely different game to single draw. Triple Draw is much more mechanical and maths-oriented. It's the FL Omaha Hi/Lo of Draw.

This has always been the toughest field at the WSOP which IMHO makes it the most prestigious. There will be a handful of big names that don't have enough experience in the game. But ugh, have fun competing against the likes of Bill Baxter (7 lowball bracelets), O'Neil Longson (3), Lenny Martin, etc.

Huge Kansas City (100/200NL, 200/400NL) games run off and on at the Bellagio, if you want an expensive lesson dive in there before the event :P. I believe Baxter broke the most recent game which lasted for one week, I heard he walked with around a cool mil.
