so my questions are

a) why the **** wont it convert, and b) do people generally have enough Tx when they do this that this wasnt a mistake by me? this was the first time this guy had done this, and as compared to his normal value sizing and his timing, his bet looked real bluffy...

though now i think about it some more, what exactly is he expecting to get value from? doesnt seem to make sense, so i guess i was right about it being bluffy... but what does he expect to fold out? 97 and 96? people dont really fold those and i had been very tight, so hes risking all his chips in a spot where hes only gonna get called if hes beat...

or am i missing something? i did call off with the worst hand so guess it must have been a value shove and im just a fish... lol

agreed, it is a bad push by him, but I also feel you made a bad call

Someone can easily bet maybe 1.5 times the pot and fold out the vast majority of hands. But someone making a huge bet like that, have to sense it is someone looking for the homerun from a non believer.

I believe that is what he was thinking here, but his hand strength wasn't strong enough

thanks for the reply mate, soooo.... yep it was def a mistake by me.

so in situations like this, is this almost always going to be like an 87xxx and better?

how often does your average micro spaz (like me ) do this on a pure bluff do you think?

If you can't find a better spot than this, reevaluate your game. The oversize shove is almost never a bluff. He was at the bottom of his range imo.

fair enough... it just seemed so out of character and suspicious. i guess thats more often an indicator of strength more than weakness though huh?

thinking about that now its funny how your brain can play tricks on you like that. i must have been reacting to what i wanted it to be rather than what hes actually displaying.

Meh. Totally opponent dependent. Although, in a tourney I'd err on the side of caution and fold vs most villains.

Fold here the majority of the time, but this is also a bad shove from him.

A pretty big shove there. Your 98 doesn't look so good after that. I would've probably folded but; I'd be pondering my fold for a while! Not an easy fold by me there. Him drawing two and hitting is just dumb luck. You were favored and lost so....it happens! Absolute love 2-7! I play on Stars.net and live in a small tourney.

Lol! CT means Connecticut. Sorry brother! Yeah it's a game at a local Post I'm a member of. No cash game runs. Just the tourney. I love the game and convinced the officers to let me run it in the hall. I actually thought it would be a big hit. I didn't realize how hard it is to get people to try something besides Hold 'em. About 30 different players have tried it so far.

So no rake. I'm not making a dime on this. WSOP format which means no limping. First one to enter the pot must do so with a raise. Tables are 7 handed. Last night we had a four way all in with a guy losing with #6 86432 after drawing one to a guy who after drawing two got #5 aka 8 perfect 85432! The odds of hitting that there is insane! What a cooler! Other two had 97 and 98. Crazy!

That's awesome dude. And yeah, it's like pulling teeth getting people to try new games. They always seem to enjoy NLSD and 2-7TD when they do though.
