Since that's all the rage, and relates to DD's hand.

Headsup for a bracelet vs Andrey Zaichenko (think he was Kroko-dill online)
I open button he 3bets I 4bet he calls.
2/1 he check calls. 2/0 he check calls and is pat.

Where do we want to draw the line on pat vs break?

Spoiler:
My hand is 98642

My thoughts, caveat being I'm a relative beginner in this game (aka fish to you sickos):

So he's patting after you're pat but isn't strong enough to x/r after the second draw. That makes me think he has 87 or more likely 96-98 with maybe a few T-lo in there. So for sure I pat all 8's, 95, and 96. 97 is where it gets close. I'm more likely to break a smooth 97 with a draw to a 7 of course. 98 I'd probably painfully break unless I've seen the opponent do this or similar moves with only a T-lo before. Not sure what I'd do with something like 98762 where I might be drawing dead by just tossing the 9 but you really don't want to draw 2. I might just pat that hand and hope your opponent checks to you, which he probably would with a pat hand he doesn't raise.

I'm commenting here so perhaps people can critique by logic, not because I think I'm anywhere near the caliber to be giving advice to someone HU for a bracelet. (one day I hope)

I think you have a better idea what kind of pat hands he'd chk call vs chk raise here. I think you have a relatively easy break with your hand as I'd guess he shows up with better 9s and very rough 8s mostly. I guess I'd break my smooth 97s and 96s. 95s rough 97 and 96s and rough 8s are the line for me.

I wonder what to do with a hand like 98735 here though. Also what hands if any are you patting and betting as a bluff?

I more or less agree with zoogenheim. Your hand seems like a break but this is a generally tough situation. There is a surprising amount of "poker" to this spot even with a simple check call action. I always say that if you break and were wrong you still have equity but if you pat wrong you have 0%

I would break that.
I think the line is somewhere around like 96543. But it depends on the villain.

Guess I'm not the norm here but I pat and pray it goes check check... Rip it over and cross my fingers... Obv it sucks to pat the loser but sucks pretty hard to break the winner.. Also I think breaking here opens you up to being played back against lighter in the future

It wouldn't make sense for villain to stay pat with a ten after you stood pat after 1 draw. Could he have 987? Yes, he could. But he definitely can't feel comfortable with 987, so it makes it less likely. He drew 2 so can have a pretty wide range here, and it would be less likely for him to end up with 987 since he probably only had one of those 3 cards in his hand before drawing. His range could probably go as low as some 86's. I would break the 9. Extremely seldom that it would end up good here in my opinion.

Congrats by the way Jameson.
