Crazy Pineapple (high only holdem variant) Crazy Pineapple (high only holdem variant)

My local casino has been running NL crazy pineapple almost every day for the last month. Games have been great, nobody knows how to play. I'm looking for strategy articles or discussions on the game. Google searching hasn't turned up much more than very basic and general articles. Anyone know any sources?

Is it really that hard to figure out you have an extra card so everyone is simply going to have stronger starting ranges? It's not that different of a variant.

I've barely played, but I know you need to adjust your preflop hand selection to make sure all your cards work together like in Omaha. So I've heard hands like JT9ss are quite valuable while AK7 is at risk of being overplayed. Also there can be some interesting discarding decisions on the flop. Like keep the top pair vs going for the straight or flush draw.

Probably not too different or hard a variant but definitely a lot of people will make mistakes, especially in overvaluing strong regular hands that are poor crazy pineapple hands. So sounds like a great spot if your casino spreads it. Where/what stake?

Not sure why 3 cards working together would be that valuable if you have to discard one of them anyway.

To give you a better chance of flopping something. The very little I've heard about this game talks about this principle as something to keep in mind.

I can see why the 3 cards together could be helpful, but not as much as in Omaha or in Tahoe / Lazy Pineapple, where you get to keep all your cards at the end.

If you have A / A / crap vs A / A / suited K, how often are you going to not keep the Aces after the flop anyway? Probably only if flop is QJT, or is all your suit.

yeah sure with AAx it matters less, but think about 766ss vs A66 vs 662. The latter is probably a muck in any position while the former is way more playable. You get to set mine and look for straights and flushes.

I would have figured all three of those were unplayable in most situations. Never have actually played this game though.

Definitely could be. I realized as I was writing the example that it might be a bad one for that very reason. I've played just a handful of hands as a game call during dealers choice and a few orbits recently in a HU mixed game.
