5 handed mix game. I straddle and get 345r XX...now I have to pick what game we play (can pick any 5 card draw game). Had a discussion and think it's pretty close between these two

Also had 238r. 2-7 or badeucy

First scenario is close call between badacey and badeucy for sure imho.

The second is better badeucy imo

Badacey and then badeucey

Second one not close at all. I don't think the first one is that close. 345 is much more playable in Ace than Deucey and I get that the badugi you are building for the badacey hand is worse but don't think that tips it too much

I like this game.

Sounds like a fun game. Is it mandatory straddle and the straddler always gets to pick the game? Other than badacey, badeucy, and 2-7td, what are the game options? And are all the games played fixed limit?

I wonder what if any strategy is best for game selection when you have a garbage hand that isn't good for any game. Maybe some meta balance so people don't assume you have a good hand when you choose a certain game (i.e. don't only choose badacey when you have a good badacey hand and choose 5c draw hi when you have garbage).

You can pick A-5, 2-7, badacey, badeucey, Archie, high only, any high any low, that might be it off top of my head.

I would pick badeucey for both these. 345r is clearly a stronger badeucey 3 card than badacey 3 card, I don't think the potential straight draw is worth more than the high chance of having the best badugi tri.

Sounds like a blast. Gonna have to try this in my home game. What's any high any low?

I went with badeuxy first for basically reasons listed below. Sure I have a straight draw but I'm guaranteed to have the 4th nut 3 card at showdown and I think that's worth a lot. It's way easier for somebody to catch up with our 3 card in badacey...

Best high hand chops with best low hand. No qualifier. Also can play 8/b triple draw.

What about KenEDugi? A new game now, that's just been invented in LA.
Triple Draw. With Archie + Badugi, with a 4-card qualifier. It's nuts.

Yeah. Because of this I also would have gone with Badeucey fyi. But I do think that it's close.

Huh? Do you mean like best 4 card badugi replaces the "low" side and pair of 9s (or is it sixes?) or better for the high side?

No, there are 3 sides. That's what makes it nuts.
A Badugi side, with 4 card Badugi qualifier, a high side with 6s qualifier, and a low with 8 or better qualifier.
Like Archie, if at showdown they only have one side, e.g. if it's A2357 vs A2347 no Badugis, then A2347 scoops.

I like it but sounds like each hand will take forever.

Not really. It plays not too dissimilar to Badacey.
Except there are some kind of dumb elements in the game like you can get a royal flush (like actually happened when we played on the very first hand), and lose money by getting only a third of the pot lol.

Warning thread drift incoming:
Did a HU KenEDugi (is that actually what it's called) flip and had some questions with drawing strat.

Start with 96542 of clubs. Toss the 9 to try to make a flush that can scoop?
On the 2nd draw, other guy has (854)6. Keep trying to make a badugi or keep the 4 low vs a draw 1 (I broke the flush)?
To the river, I draw 1, guy has 86543 no badugi potential, pat back or break to go for low and straight?

Yeah it's actually what it's called. (It was invented by Kenny Tran)
Yes I would toss the 9.
And yes I'd toss the 6.
You get into some insane spots in it.

I mostly play live mixed games HU since only one of my poker friends like mixed games. I'll see how well this works HU. Seems like it could be better than Archie HU, which just sounds like there'd be no way to know who's going high or low so it's just gambling.

I'm sure you get some weird scoops too. Like in this flip, ended up with 66543 vs 88543, no badugis, eights scoop.

A friend of mine and I are going to play the 5 card draw choose your game mix sometime soon. According to the OP, UTG selects the game. What do you all think would be the best way to pick the game HU? I'm thinking if the button gets to pick, that's just too much strength, since then the button would have position and game selection. But if you give the big blind the selection, then the big blind has position in betting on the same street where they select the game. One idea I had was making the blinds equal/playing with an ante and no blinds and having the non-button player select the game and act first on every street.

We've actually played it at 80 mix and play it UTG straddles and picks

Hm so it's a 3 blind game and the game selector gets position predraw. Still not sure how best to translate that to HU though.
