Hero checks, BB checks, Button bets $0.50, Hero raises to $1

Pat guy is reasonably aggressive for these stakes. Plays higher at times. Expect him to have anything up to 98764. Maybe even T7654 - not sure.
I figured my hand was in the top half of that range, plus I'd really like to get the draw-4 guy out, plus if I could get the pat guy to break say 87642 that would be a result.
Then I figured you can remove things like 97632 or 98532 from the pat guy's range because he'll drop the 9, so I'm not actually ahead.

What do you think of my raise? Break if he 3-bets? Plans for later streets if he calls and pats?

Re: 50c/$1 TD: raise on flop with 96?

I think you have to raise if you're playing it as a pat. If you're not patting I think the raise is pretty awful unless you think he ever breaks better after you raise.

If I'm in villain's shoes, I've seen people k/r my pat plenty of times OTF w/ a 1c draw (I'd presume a 7-draw) after drawing 2, so I'm going to go ahead and 3b it here with all of my pats and see what you do at the next draw. This is especially true if there is a player drawing 4 in the middle because I will suspect that you are possibly trying to knock them out and therefore have a wider range.

And because of that, I think it's a tricky decision about whether to break if they 3b. Given it was a BTN open, it's possible to put a decent player on a range that you're ahead of, but there are more bets going in later and you're OOP, so I think you have to break, which means just flat the flop.

Standard call IMO. I dont expect to be ahead here much at all.
