Hi,

yesterday I played a hand on the BTN vs BB on CG table.
My hand : 97532

I choosed to discard 9 vs my oppenent who drawn 3 cards.

I bricked 3 times and he won the hand.

My question : in that situation, should I kept my made hand and not discard 9 ?

Thanks

I think I would have patted. We do improve/stay the same an extremely high % of the time (We improve ~60% over 3 draws, stay another 10%). But we likely take the pot after the 1st/2nd draw if things don't go very well for V drawing 3.

I think against someone drawing 3 you would always be a bigger favorite standing on a 9.

We still have FE breaking the 9 if BB bricks (maybe even more than if we patted, as patting pre btn vs bb can look like either a snow cuz he drew 3, or the weaker end of our pat range, which it is) and we have a wheel draw which can stand some heat and cooler villain if we both hit. I'm always drawing 1 to the wheel. There are enough similar hands we can pat, but it's mostly due to straight draw considerations, such as 97643, 96542, or 96543. We don't need to open pat smooth wheel draws.
