2-7 bvb opening range

Unknown to me at this point, I assume this is a good 2card open into just about everybody. Probably not opening 643 or 653 but opening 642 or 843(?)/852 etc.
Could I actually keep the 9 in this case?

Pretty clear bet after the first draw I would think. We improved he's drawing 3 so we should be ahead a large % of the time if my thoughts.

Same thing after the 2nd draw, once he raises I figure he has at least good 9 but significantly more likely an 8 due us tossing a 9 and the games not being that aggro afaict. With that said we should have about 6.5 clean outs to the 3 or 5 for a 7 because we tossed a 4 this is how I come up with 6.5. I'm sure with in depth analysis you can get something a lot more accurate but we can't really do this in real time. I also have ~3.5 outs to the 8 since I assume he has it a decent % of the time.
The 6.5 clean outs give me about 14% and the 3.5 will bink about 7%(We lose to 8-6,8-5 however) so there's some crappy reverse implied odds. However when we bink a 7 or 8 we are leading and pretty much always just getting called so I'm sure we have a profitable peel here.

After the last draw obviously we are c/f.

Sorry if this is a bit too long. I just like to over analyze off the tables and 2-7 seems like a game where we have so much more information then hold em at times because of tossed cards etc.

The only question I have besides what I did/didn't do wrong is

Are my assumptions about the number of outs correct/close to correct?

Well played hand. You can open small blind with 24xyz easy. I always discard the 9 on the flop.

I would ditch the 9 with (642) but keep it with (643). You have a better chance to just win a small pot early in the hand by drawing less cards, and the deuceless draw simply isn't all that strong.

Makes sense, we want to be pat as soon as possible the rougher we are I guess.

I can see the argument for going smooth, as the deck should be rich in deuces with all of the folds. I, however, would still draw 1. If you don't catch a 2 at some point, you really will wish you had kept the 9, as the best hand you can make is, obviously, a rough 87, which will not have THAT much more value than the 97 you are drawing to. Being out of position and rough, I would prefer that the pot be small and end as early as possible. One of the worst things that can happen when you're rough is for the opponent to be pat first - this result is MUCH more likely when we draw 2 as opposed to 1.
