15/30 TDL 3 handed, close turn spot
Poker Stars $15/$30 Limit 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball - 3 players
DeucesCracked Poker Videos Hand History Converter
Pre Draw: (1.667 SB) Hero is SB with K T 7 3 2
BTN raises, Hero calls, BB calls
First Draw: (6 SB) (3 players)
Hero draws 2, BB draws 3, BTN draws 1
Hand: J 8 7 3 2
Hero checks, BB checks, BTN bets, Hero calls, BB raises, BTN calls, Hero calls
Second Draw: (6 BB) (3 players)
Hero draws 1, BB stands pat, BTN draws 1
Hand: 8 7 4 3 2
Hero checks, BB bets, BTN raises
This game was 6 handed, and the table had just broken a few hands ago leaving 3 of us. The villains are both well known, playing these stakes and higher, much higher in the case of the BB.
On the turn I think I nearly always have a better hand than the BB, and I was intending to c/r. When BTN raises it suddenly became a bit gross.
My original thoughts were that I should 3bet here, and call/break if it gets capped. I then changed my mind twice in rapid succession. I'm nearly always against 2 pat hands here, and BTN's range has a lot that beats me imo. But BTN also knows that BB is weak here, and can definitely raise a worse 8 / good 9 here I think.
3bet, call a cap ? then pat or break ? If I pat, c/c river ? b/f river ?
Or do I just call and pat then c/c river ?
Or do I call and break ?
Or do I fold ?

Re: 15/30 TDL 3 handed, close turn spot
it really does depend on who the players are, but this is probably a sigh/fold.

This is a tough spot. I probably fold and hate life if BTN turns over an 87.

Re: 15/30 TDL 3 handed, close turn spot
We have more than enough odds to call and draw if we know #2 is good and BB won't 3-bet. We have the odds to call down pat if we know we beat BB and the bottom of BTN's range is weaker than 87543.
I say BTN wants to take us out so his range contains many weaker hands. Call and pat unless BB 3-bets. Maybe 3-bet if you think it gets BB to fold some hands he would have broken and BTN's range is weak enough.

I never fold. I call and see what happens. Might have to break it depending on opponents.

Re: 15/30 TDL 3 handed, close turn spot
there is alot of 'ifs' in that post vempele
i think its very easy to overestimate peoples ranges in situations like this, but most people arent going to just c/r pat a ton of 9's otf going 3-pat in a 3way pot. IME, people also dont raise super wide as the btn there. that said, there are people that i wouldnt fold against, but there are some that it would definitely be the best play against.

Re: 15/30 TDL 3 handed, close turn spot
I actually did fold, I definitely didn't love doing it, but afterwards when I went over the hand I still thought it was very close (hence my posting the HH).
FWIW the villains are capoch in the BB, foo on the BTN.

Re: 15/30 TDL 3 handed, close turn spot
Thanks ! This advice is the same as I got away from the forum before posting the HH.
I had some recent history with BTN, where I called down or drew to second best hands, and I definitely had a bit of 'JFC, here we go again ...' in my head at the time
To be results oriented for a moment, 3betting would have been the right thing. BB had a 987, BTN had 87543.

that doesn't mean that they would call your cold-3bet which shows immense strength with these hands right?
