I haven't watched any WWE since happening to catch the 4-way that Owens won the title in but I'll download SS after it's over to watch the match. I have no idea why they think it's a good idea.

To promote the video game. That is the only reason that makes even a little sense. Apparently those video games are giant bucks for everyone involved.

A little bit OT but I bought WWE 2k17 this past Tuesday. First WWE game I've bought since 2k13. I couldn't pass it up with the roster of legends that it has. The game is AWFUL. It's not even playable yet. It has so many ****ing bugs in it that I can't believe they released it. I'm usually very easy to please with gaming but this is the absolute worst game that I've ever purchased. Had someone get stuck in midair holding the briefcase after the ladder was kicked out from under him, another where my cpu opponent kept grappling me without doing moves and i couldn't do anything about it, you have to stand in position to do your finisher for 5 seconds before you can use it, after you use your sig/finisher once you can't use again, you can't drop a weapon after picking it up, and many others...terrible. Do not buy this game.

The game sucks without the bugs. I really don't like the direction they've taken with the mechanics. It seems like they tried to go deep with the SD vs Raw series but it got ridiculous so they dumbed it down with 2K. Both seem to have failed imo. I feel like I have more control in the GC era games then I do in any of the SD vs Raw and 2K games.

Is it that hard to remake no mercy's gameplay with current graphics/wrestlers?

ikr! I looked in the 2k17 game to make a moveset and it brought me back to old times but it's not really the old times because of the awful engine that it runs on now. No Mercy was so simplistic and just hours and hours of fun. Just need an emulator, I guess.

I remember Styles going on a rant about how he wanted the TNA game to play exactly like No Mercy with updated visuals and when he got the prototype in his hands he wanted to get an interview with Midway just so he could blast them about.

The short answer to the question is yes, it would be hard for a non AAA developer to make a 3D wrestling game just because there is so much animation involved. Unless you have motion capture, every move needs to be animated by hand and then you have to make sure there's minimal clipping etc.

The reason why the latest games don't revert back to that style is probably some old school Japanese developer rivalry type stuff. Back in the day there were 2 devs that made wrestling games, Yukes and AKI. They didn't really like each other and it was obvious that Yukes kind of trailed behind AKI. AKI made all the great N64 games everyone loves but it was Yukes that eventually got the contract to exclusively develop WWE games. No Mercy was actually the last WWE game AKI ever made.

ha, i bought an xbox one a few weeks ago with 2k17 in mind. Felt like it was about time for one anyway and I got back into wrestling a year ago. The last wrestling game I bought before it was No Mercy. I still play No Mercy from time to time. No Mercy is the GOAT.

Agree with everyone here, 2k17 is awful. I'll probably end up playing it a handful of times and never again. The gameplay is bad enough on its own, but the story modes are terrible. Just boring.

Count me as one being saved from myself by these reviews and the low Amazon reviews. Won't even bother renting 2k17.

Strapping Kevin Owens was a mistake.

Come at me bros.

I agree. Though I think its more "strapping ko as part of some giant HHH/Seth thing and then just ignoring it for 2 months while you wait for wrestlemania season and have everyone tread water" than "ko shouldnt have the title in general"

If they were gonna do it they needed to blow off JeriKO immediately. Right now Owens is the least important guy in that feud and he has the title.

Also him and Rollins have what appears to be horrendous in-ring chemistry for some reason which is weird as hell.

But Raw was terrible before his title run.

While true, it always starts a the top and Owens is just not a believable or compelling champion right now and isn't going to be in this version.

Since I want everyone to ignore my opinions from now on and a yt video brought it up today; so I'll leave this

I enjoyed the invasion angle and thought it was pretty good (for wwe standards) overall.

Yeah a few things were pretty bad (linda acting, the end of it) but the storyline was significantly better than most. It's actually my favorite multiple McMahon's involved storyline.*

*I am presuming I won't like it much if I rewatched it, but at the time I liked it better than a lot of things during that era.

I agree. They're finally starting to show their work again after the WOAT b2b2b title runs of Balor/Joe/Nak

Before his injury, Jason Jordan was one of the few reasons to watch RAW.

I'm looking forward to him coming back.

I said this about him on November 13th:

He grew a lot with some practice. His in ring needs a bit of work but I'm optimistic.

Kane is a better wrestler than the Undertaker. (I'm mainly referring to his first appearance to around mid 2000s, as I have not been following WWE much since then)

-For majority of his career, Kane seemed to be in excellent physical condition. I can't say the same thing about the Undertaker.
-His move set is basically a clone of Undertakers, however I feel his overall technique and execution is better.
-He evolved as a character and even was amusing at times.
-Other wrestlers have praised how safe it is to wrestle with Kane.

*It seems what holds him back is basically the gimmick. Undertaker has a good persona as the deadman, and Kane isn't different enough (Undertaker got their first basically). Although, I did love the psychotic Mike Myers'ness about Kane.
**Also Kane was never a consistent contender for the championship. IMO, this is connected with the previous point.
