I have no idea how they get that to be a believable mania feud. Maybe they aren't actually doing it.
AJ attacks Bryan, Shane steps in, challenges him to match

Why waste the "make someone relevant" card on one of like two people on your roster that doesn't need it?

To avoid disincentivizing awesomeness.

This may be spoiler territory, but....
Spoiler:
she was shown in the commercial for Sunday's SD event at the Garden last night.

My guess from what was said is that his contract is up then and he can go elsewhere and wrestle

So do fans not realize that AJ Styles isn't actually good at what he's supposed to be doing if they're doing full on "AJ Styles" chants when they're supposed to hate him? The blending of heels/faces is probably the most annoying thing about modern-day WWE.

AJ's size and move set lend himself to being a face. It isn't a "blend", it's WWE's ******ed booking in AJ's case. I think AJ's done a great job of being a heel but he's too good for people to actually boo him. This is the same as the Roman dilemma. Why not turn Roman heel when it's so obviously what the people want? Why not turn AJ face when it's so obviously what the people want?

i think vince is still too furious from caving on bootista before he turned into a legit movie star to ever do it again

smarks always think the grass is greener and allowing them to dictate heel/face isn't a good idea. might as well acknowledge face = smark heel, heel = smark face and be done with it

roman being a face isn't the problem. wwe forcing all roads to lead to him no matter the opportunity cost in talent is

like, they best buried strowman for no reason to make roman look that much more impressive in theory when he beats undertaker

I mostly agree with you but AJ and Roman are exceptions. Turn Roman heel to win vs Taker and he'll get boos. Keep Roman at the top of the card and he'll get boos. Continue to keep him at the top and then beat Brock at SummerSlam for the belt and he'll get nuclear boos. Have AJ chase a heel world champion and he'll get cheered forever.

The only problem with Roman is that he'll never ever be accepted as a top of the card face so you're back to square one if you turn him.

this is terrible and nonsensical. Just not something that even Shane-o-mac would do kayfabe.

In fact aside from being a cheap way to build toward Shane/AJ, that post smackdown segment made no sense. He should've been running after Bryan bitching, not Shane who had his back.

Why didn't they just have the opposing viewpoints in the opening segment? WWE creative is so dumb

Turning Roman heel is the easiest decision ever, we agree there. IDK about turning AJ though, he was a face that couldn't get over early on in his WWE career wasn't he? He seems to be better suited as a whiny, cocky heel than an underdog, fans just need to, you know, boo him when he does heel stuff. Not cheer him bc they're proud of themselves for being aware he's good at it. It's a ****ing television show.

meh, your viewpoint is way too simplistic. Things don't work that way at all now. Villians in TV shows are the most beloved sometimes. The only difference is theres no live audience to be cheering Gus Fring when he comes out for a scene in BB.

I guess it would be nice if 100% of the audience cheers every face and boos every heel, but its not realistic.

AJ now reminds me of Seth after his match with Cena at SummerSlam 2015. People were clamoring for him to turn because his moveset is just too good and he's too exciting to boo. Look how long they took with Seth. They didn't even turn him in the most obvious spot ever. AJ should become a face or significantly alter his moveset.

I really enjoyed Seth's heel promos coming back from the injury though. His knee giving out 'carrying the company on his back for the last year' stuff was pretty good.

I don't think they took too long turning him face, they just did it awfully/without a promo explaining himself/just hey, let's have him fight bad guys now and let's pair him with Roman Reigns!!!! That'll get him over as a face!

What would get the biggest pop? Road Dogg, Michael Hayes, or Michael Hayes' fanny pack?

I thought they were building to Hayes/RD with the winner getting a title shot.

The MSG show was a bit of disappointment. Just your standard house show stuff. Atmosphere was a little more adult than last one. There were two completely out of place "This is Awesome" chants during perfectly mediocre matches. One might have even been during a headlock, where the people I was with were asking what was awesome about this.

Asuka was a nice surprise. KO got in a few shots, but basically got squashed again. Strangely, a NY crowd was chanting for Goldberg at the end.
