Of course he did, he knocked out a giant fat man with an illegal steel plate in his elbow.

It was very inspiring. I stood up and chanted USA USA USA. Go back to Japan!

I did however just watch Zayn vs Cesaro IV. Brilliant match. A shame matches in other promotions can't be brought up because in a 2011 match between the two in PWG Sami tapped to Cesaro's stretch muffler after working on his leg the whole match. I also feel that you lack basic human emotions if you're not rooting for Sami when Cesaro is telling him to stay down and keeps hammering him with uppercuts.
Watching this now. Please, to everyone in the forum, put this on (the first match on NXT arrival). Not a true 5 star, but pretty damn close. Like it took place in an alternate universe or something.

I felt very Frank Grimes-to-Homer Simpson. "STOP LAUGHING, YOU IMBECILES! YOU ALMOST DRANK SULFURIC ACID!" They were literally celebrating a failure.

Excellent acknowledgement of a Simpsons reference by pivoting into another.

I think I have written this elsewhere on this forum, but that SummerSlam '93 is the dumbest ending of all time. They built Lex up, had him tour across the country in a big bus, and he got pretty damn over. I remember saving my money to order that PPV as a little kid and even being 10 years old I knew it was an ending that made no sense.

If they didn't want to strap Lex, why not end with him losing due to interference? Why not do a screw job double DQ/CO? Throughout the history of pro wrestling, every announcer mentions the "champion's advantage." No one ever wants to win by CO/DQ in a regular championship match. Why in the blue hell did they set up the dumb celebration?

Cornette apparently gave an interview the week before the match on some sort of smark outlet where he was asked about Luger going over, and he said matter-of-factly, "Well, when you give a guy this much build-up, if you don't have him go over and win the belt he's going to look like dog****." Cornette explained when recalling this story that he fully expected that they were going to strap Lex at that point, and he had to apologize to Vince for those comments after the fact since he made an assumption and jumped the gun.

They should have given Lex a chance to run with the ball there. They really killed him off with that booking decision, and it's not like they had a great champion at the time that made it particularly risky to transition the belt to Lex. If Lex had a title run that didn't work, and Yoko's heat ended up dead too because he lost to Luger...well, so? Yoko had some value but that wouldn't have been a big deal.

I think it'd be because Luger would be more deserving of a rematch if it was a screwy finish. This way they said he had his chance but didn't get it done in the following weeks/months.

watching hbk taker 2 at WM.

Maybe its just coz its a high profile match not just a weekly show.

but i don't remember Cole and Striker being such aids together. especially striker.

Ps the setup for the first sweet chin musics pretty ******ed. they just slowly get to their feet, pawing at eachother. calling there next few spots. Then boom. finisher. Even Cena at least counters a punch to set up the AA. this was literally just: We were on the ground. now we are standing. now i have kicked you. pin.

edit: Just saw that summerslam 93 finish. that is very very odd.

I noticed that Roku now has a "resume watching" feature, which was much needed, not sure if the ps3 even has that yet. However, the Roku doesn't have the chapter feature.

Just finished SummerSlam 88. This may be sacrilege to some, but Miss Elizabeth as a manager was always pretty horrible to me. If she ever did anything it was with the same look of indifference on her face. Her prancing around in her bikini bottoms was an awkward way to close Summerfest 88, but the crowd freaking loved it.

I'm not sure if it was intentional but there were little subtle things even then suggesting Macho didn't appreciate Kogan being all touchy feely with his woman after the match, just some of the looks he gave him and what not, though that could have just honestly been Macho Man wondering what Hogan was doing.

Just started Survivor Series 88, might try to get through every WWF PPV through 1992, mostly because this is what I watched most when I was a kid. Also throwing in WCW matches from this era.

The chronological reddit thing .iso posted is great too. It's funny, watching these things also brings you back to other phases in your life at that time, at least for me anyway. Total nostalgia fest.

That SummerSlam '88 ending was the stuff that childhood crushes were made of.

Anyway, in the run-up to WM V, Savage gave a promo where he brought back slow motion replays of Hogan being touchy-feely with Liz after that match; I tend to think they were deliberately already planting the seeds for the eventual heel turn.

I think I remember that now. Pretty cool that spent a considerable amount of time on that whole angle. Seems today it would have been done between one set of PPVs.

On the childhood crush part, Elizabeth was super 1980's hot. With the smirk I was talking about she seemed to always have actually helped her pull off her 1990's NWO look too, imo.

yeah elizabeth looked great well into the 90s also. i guess she was in her mid-late 30s by then too which makes it even more remarkable.

I just caught the last five minutes of a show on the network. It had Malenko vs Mysterio from what I'm pretty damn sure was the night after BatB 96. Yet I search Nitro and nothing comes up and the show name was gone from the listing. Anybody know what network show this came from? Sure as hell wasn't that 96 Nitro because it was the opening match on that card.

Also, if you look on the schedule for tomorrow you can see there's a 10/31/86 house show on there which features Savage vs Steamboat. This isn't listed in the vault as of yet. edit: ugh nvm it goes to the welcome message. Not available until airing. I've heard this match rivals their WM III match though so definitely make sure to check it out.

edit 2: watching Cena vs HHH from WM 22 and seeing Punk come out on the car is awesome and ironically the closest he'll get to the main event isn't as a competitor.
