Obviously I was no Nasty Boys fan, but at least they had a coherent gimmick that I could quickly identify and describe.

WTF even were the Beverly Brothers? It's like they were supposed to be spoiled rich kids, except they never truly played that up, and for some reason their costumes were huge sequined robes with big shoulder pads. You know, like what rich kids wear. I legit didn't really know what I was even watching, so how could I possibly be asked to care about them?

It's striking just how slender the debuting Yokozuna was, relative to what he looked like five years later.

Whereas Nailz having no entrance music was obviously correct, giving Damien Demento no entrance music always just marked him as a jobber to me.

The babyfaces of the WWF locker room want to wish us a Merry Christmas...

...and I'm just left thinking, "Wow, this roster was super ****ing thin." All of three guys in that shot (Bret/Taker/Perfect) who you could stick in a PPV main event in '92/'93 and it wouldn't be completely laughable.

That had to be one of the lowest points in the business. Even I lapsed a bit in the early 90s. I can’t even ever recall the Earthquake baby face run. They also had far less programming they needed to fill per week. Maybe two to three hours?

For whatever reason he resembles Roman a lot more when he is super fat instead of just regular fat.

Natural Disasters turned face together. I don't remember the details well off the top of my head, but they had a title match at WrestleMania VIII I believe. They eventually jobbed away the titles in the most unceremonious way possible, with DiBiase just putting Quake out with the Million Dollar Dream while Typhoon watched from the apron and didn't bother trying to help. They even ambushed Money Inc. before the match, so there was zero kayfabe excuse that they lost 100% clean and without even a high-impact moment that I can recall.

Of course. Those ring ropes are dangerous. He could trip getting into the ring. Guess that also explains why I can't find him in the picture either. Must still be standing on the apron.

He's mostly being crowded out, but he's behind Virgil and you can spot him if you squint really hard. Big Boss Man is also barely poking out from behind Mr. Perfect.

So here’s an Easter Egg I hadn’t seen before: Mr. Perfect vs. Brock Lesnar in an unaired dark match from 2002. Perfect’s work telling the story of being the crafty veteran who has to outthink his larger, faster opponent is exceptional.

Thank you! I had hours upon hours of Perfect matches on vhs when I was a kid and taped every one of his matches that was on. It was 90% matches against local jobbers, but I would wear those tapes out. I loved the part where he would hold the guys face up to a camera and tell him he could say hello to his friends and family before finishing him off.

Never seen this one before - obviously it was Perfect.

Bob Backlund has a jobber squash against Barry Horowitz. After he wins, he offers Horowitz a handshake and Horowitz blows him off, heading out to the apron. Backlund pursues him and again asks for a handshake. Horowitz gives him a more pronounced "LOL no" and walks off.

Somehow they decided to make the jobber the dynamic character in a jobber squash, to the detriment of the star who he laid down for.

This might be a Mandella effect situation, because I also thought Max Moon was Konnan.

However,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_D...oon_(1992-1993)

"In the fall of 1992, Diamond got a brand new gimmick in "Maximillian Moon" ("Max Moon" for short). Diamond wasn't originally intended to play Max Moon. The gimmick was created for Konnan, but Konnan left the WWF after a backstage disagreement. Since Diamond fit the costume, he was chosen to take over the character.[18]"

It's pretty funny how long the IRS gimmick lasted. It wasn't interesting, and he cut a promo that was 99% identical every single time. The only thing kind of entertaining about the IRS standby promo is the fact that it was so persistently repetitive that it sort of broke through to the other side of abject lameness and became funny.

Til Kato from the Orient Express was also Max Moon, mind blown

Bret: "Razor Ramon, this won't be the first time I'll have to beat up a big bully for picking on one of my little brothers..."

Dude, he's a ****ing WWF wrestler, not some overmatched 14-year-old. Quite the burial of Owen.

Yeah. He existed as a straightforward babyface interviewer for a stretch of time after quietly retiring from the ring.

Reading that there's a free version of the network now. Anyone able to compare what's free with what we're paying for?

Most of the old PPVS are free. That's pretty much it. Superstars, Raw, and current programming is locked off.

I think PPVS are free starting like 3-4 months ago, so anything after that is locked.
