Yeah, it doesn't really mitigate anything about that promo, but it's still cathartic to watch it.

I mean, there's some sort of line here where I'm being sort of a mark by getting so worked up about it, but it just seemed like a ****ty thing to do to one of the company's legends, just for the sake of allowing Kev to be a huge clown in service of absolutely nothing.

In an alternate universe where they clear it up front with Arn and Flair, and it's done in service of setting up an angle where Flair and the Horsemen avenge Arn by destroying Nash, that could have actually been good. As it was, it was just spitting on the grave of Arn's career for no good reason. And, obviously this is entirely subjective on my part, but: even setting the disrespect part aside, it wasn't ****ing funny, just as most Nash promos weren't. It makes his self-satisfied "I'm so ****ing clever" smirk all the more tilting.
Hey man

It's all ****ing fake

It's a problem that I've barely listened to any episodes featuring Lapsed Nash. It's gold every time I've heard it.

Listen to the last 50 minutes of Part 2 of the Starrcade 98 episode. It's Jack interviewing Lapsed Nash about killing the streak and WCW. So ****ing funny.

A bunch of killer lines in New Blood Rising as well.

Yeah I think Lapsed Nash is probably my favorite character on the cast

I've mentioned this before, but the beauty of the Lapsed Kevin character is that Jack gets legitimately upset at him when they have a conversation. Even better is that I know it's all a performance and I find myself getting mad at the character too because it just seems spot on as to how Nash is in real life

Shagger Lee is the best in my book
I also never fail to laugh whenever Jack's talking as HBK and he adds "Jack!" onto the end of whatever he's saying.

The best utterance has to be Jack's Big Poppa Pump "WHAT!"

I think this is what drives Lapsed Nash into the number 1 spot for me. Jack having honest disagreements with fake Nash is so much fun, and Nash just brushing them off with "hey man, its all ****ing fake."

So good.

The only one I remember from the AWA tour wrt "I'm Rod Trongard and" is, "...and I just ate a cactus.". Awesome. Larry Nelson and Shagger Lee announcing the last AWA ppv is a comedic duo. I think Verne is pretty underrated and probably mostly because people didn't listen to much of the AWA tour. "30 years" and "90 percent".

Sorry to drag up a touchy subject there, I can see why that promo riled up folks

Just watched the following Fall Brawl and wtf at that Curt Hennig doublecross. Accepting Arns spot then turning so brutally, what a scumbag

Haha no need to apologize. You're not alone in loving that segment, as much as it infuriates me.

Especially as a Hennig mark, him turning at Fall Brawl caused me to mark out against him too. I hated them nullifying that great promo from the week before, when Arn talked him into accepting.

I've dialed up WrestleMania IV. I have no defense to make of this PPV, it's objectively awful, but I'm going to keep periodically watching it for the rest of my life due to nostalgia factor. Will skip Jake vs. Rude obviously. (The Brother Love show was WM V's Jake vs. Rude.) Young me was so damn stoked every time I could go rent the VHS and it was spread over two whole tapes.

I wonder WTF the story is on George "The Animal" Steele being announced as a participant in the opening battle royal and then just taking his shirt off and never going into the ring.

Lol LKJ

This is my "go to" rewatch also, to a lesser extent Wrestlemanias 5 and 6

Just love the tourney storytelling and yah the 2 VHS tapes made it epic

Back in those days, having the full WWE library at the touch of a button through my TV wouldve been like some crazy epic dream, that just wasnt possible, therefore I never even dreamed it

My local video store basically just had:
WM
WM 2
WM III
WM IV
WM V
SummerSlam '88
SummerSlam '89
Survivor Series '88
Royal Rumble '89
The Big Event

So after SummerSlam '89 they stopped bothering to stock wrestling tapes. It was quite agitating. Somehow I was never curious enough to watch the original WM back in those days...the tag match main event put me off, and it didn't help that I thought that WM 2 sucked, which made me kind of decide I wasn't interested in the old stuff. Didn't ever rent The Big Event either. I tried the rest, but overall it was just me renting WM IV and WM V repeatedly.

Also, even on my very first watch I gave up on Jake vs. Rude and started fast-forwarding it midway. I was quite confused as to how they could really stay in a reverse chinlock that long, even though I probably didn't know the name of the hold. Even really young me puzzled out that they were obviously going to time limit.

I did eventually watch it in its entirety, and I looked back approvingly at my young self for making a good call.

Lol "the old stuff".... from 2 years before..

The youngsters perspective ha ha

I was such a massive mark for both guys I really didnt feel that match was so horrible back then, but having rewatched recently it is up there as one of the worst out of all manias

I love the battle royal ending, Bad News doublecrossing Bret then Bret mangling the trophy and throwing it at Bad News, just gold and a great way to open things

The Duggan sunset flip on Dibiase stands out too for me as a WTF moment lol

Ahh nostalgia
