I stopped watching WWF around 1993 (only watched from 1987 wrestlemania 3 was the start), only saw the odd vhs of WCW back then, so everything past 93 is new to me

Just suddenly stopped watching then but got interested again a couple of years ago when the network came out

I knew of most of the superstars but never watched a full show from that point

Ive been going in date order (scrapped watching ECW standard shows from 1997 tho) through the WWE network library the last couple of years

Enjoyed Austins WCW run and his ECW flirtation, now its awesome to see him take over

This is a huge minority opinion. Just search for polls done on the subject. It's seems pretty split between 97 and 2000 and then some non-AE years.

On par with WWF at the time with the solidification of Taz as the guy, the WWE invasion, a non ppv event in September titled "As Good As It Gets", Bigelow winning the belt, The Triple Threat, and I believe Al Snow's ascent started in late 1997.

Nice, I enjoyed the ECW invasion matches on Raw and love the Taz style

I had to drop something from my viewage or else Id never get up to date lol

Might check out the card on some of the hardcore tvs and watch.some.of the best matches, definitely going to watch all the ECW ppvs

I'd definitely recommend checking out the hardcore episodes where Bigelow wins the belt (late October), As Good As It Gets is shown in its entirety over 3 episodes in September, and the barbwire match between Sabu and Terry Funk which happens in July or August either right before Hardcore Heaven or right after.

****, just watched Summerslam 97 and mega-cringed at the Owen piledriver on Steve

He was absolutely ****ed after that, barely got up for the the schoolboy which looked farcical

I vaguely remembered reading about Austin breaking his neck at some stage but wasnt expecting it here, was shocking

Great match up to that point too

Loved the Taker vs Bret match, out of the box ending with Michaels nailing Taker with a chair by mistake then having to count 3

It's still crazy to me that Owen did something so reckless. He rarely botched and he definitely didn't seem like he ever treated other workers carelessly in the ring, then suddenly one moment he goes full Ahmed. We were fortunate to get a few more great years of SCSA after that.

How many years does Austin go if he didn't break his neck? Would he have gotten stale like Hogan did after awhile? Would he be hurt by terrible writing?

Wasn't his knees busted up by the end as well?

The Owen match is bad to watch. The stipulation put them in a rough spot as well for how to finish as well.

Yeah I always thought the fact that both knees were completely ****ed is what led to him hanging it up

His knees were pretty messed up but he's always cited his neck as the reason that he retired after XIX. Pretty much the same injury that forced Edge to retire.

Austin has said that he doesn't think he gets as big as he did unless the neck injury. He said he was able to think of a bunch of stuff to do outside the ring (monster truck, beer truck, zamboni) that wouldn't hurt his neck. Yeah that stuff happened in 1998/1999 but he still hadn't taken time off to get his neck surgically repaired so he was still in an extraordinary amount of pain.

TNA/GFY released a preview of Impact that spoiled the Slammiversary main event about 12 hours before it aired. It's their only PPV booked this year.

I want to know what the original plan was when they advertised "Four Doinks" as a team for Survivor Series '93. I refuse to believe that they originally meant to go forward with the Bushwhackers and MOM.

I have a very odd question. I'm listening to TLF's "Final Four" episode. Jack says that the satellite feed alone is $200k. Fast forward to early 2014 just prior to the Network coming out. Vince in a conference call says that they're "expecting no revenue from ppvs". However, once the Network does come out, they still do something like 200k buys for WM XXX. If Vince isn't expecting any ppv buys: is he still paying for a satellite link up for ppvs? Do the ppv companies make such bank on this that they asked him to stay on ppv and they covered the feed cost? I assume that was not the case because a bunch of ppv hosts kicked him off of their network(s).

The 93 Observers are out there somewhere . Meltzer also answers everyone on Twitter. Go for it!

If nothing else, I found a shoot interview with Mo talking about how he and Mabel got blindsided by the idea the day of the show, so certainly they didn't just set out to do that weirdness. That makes it pretty strange that the Four Doinks all survived.

I couldn't find anything for this year, I think that is because WWE has changed the way they report PPV income, but for 2016, they reported $2,000,000 in income from PPVs in the first quarter and that didn't include Mania. They do sell PPVs internationally where the Network isn't available. The other thing that a lot of people do not know is that there are areas in this country that do not have access to an internet connection that is fast enough to be able to use the Network and are forced to buy PPVs to watch.

It's not the network, but there's some VHS ECW full show PPV rips on YouTube. Pretty awesome with the grainy quality and original music.

Bill Alfonzo's whistle is easily the worst, and most annoying gimmick in pro wrestling history.

Maxes out both categories.

Lol I actually enjoy Alfonzo's whistle in moderation

Nice will have to check out some of those vids

Watching some of these Monday Nitro and Raws, the crowds seem to be just insanely into the matches. It adds so much to the viewing experience

Loving Eddie Guerreros 97 heel turn, he has played it great so far

Also enjoyed the Godwinns heel turn funnily enough. I couldnt stand watching them as goofy yokel faces but the menacing hillbilly angle seems to work and they play it well

I will be interested to see how Stevie Richards and Raven fair over at WCW they seemed to be crazy over in ECW when I last watched and I enjoy their respective schtick. Hopefully the dont **** up their personas too much like they did Public Enemy

Just watched Hardcore Heaven 97, great show! I like how ECW seem to be picking up the mismanaged scraps from the WWF and repackaging and getting the best out of them. I really thought Leif Cassidy was a scrub the WWF packaged him as a jobber rocker but I see ECW are giving him a chance and I can see he is playing up a crazy angle as Al Snow. isolated cited the "rise of Al Snow" so that will be intriguing
