ECW special on the network last night was kind of underwhelming. Nothing new. Bubba is still pretty obnoxious. Worth the watch at least for Dreamer's promo of the year at the end that makes Heyman cry.

Probably still going to end up going through the entire ECW library over the holidays so I guess they accomplished what they were advertising though.

Yeah, it was at least on the brief aside at 45 minutes or whatever. Nothing really new, and for a show that's people talking about a bunch of stuff that was filmed, it's surprisingly short on clips.

But also, it did make me want to revisit some of that great old ecw stuff. I still remember being in high school and finding out their Friday nite show was finally going to be on my local cable package and then becoming obsessed with it.

Think I'm starting to understand why they discontinued War Games. Must have been some malfunction with the coin. The heels won every single flip. Took them a decade to finally win a match though.

Just watched one of my all time favorite matches. Benoit/MVP Best 2 of 3 at Judgement Day 2007. Magnificent psychology throughout the entire match.

I just finished a long drive where I listened to the latest old school wrestling podcast episode (starcade 89).

Not really noteworthy except for around the 1 hour 58 minute mark they do a retelling of the original thanksgiving story with wrestlers that's pretty good.

Highly recommended segment.

The biggest shock on ECW's Top 50 Shocking Moments is that they got Raven to do commentary. Shane Douglas still on the **** list though.

im curious as to when that list was finalized, because I think both the DIY/Revival and the big 5 on 5 Survivor match from Toronto two weeks ago are better than most on that list up there.

But from whats up there I like Nakamura/Zayn, Ibushi/Alexander, Cena/Styles

You can also add tonight's main event to that list too

I see that the network has every year of Raw up now. I'm assuming that there are probably scattered missing episodes, but if not then every single episode (save for the past month) is up now.

Early 2000s are still quite sparse ( or they were a few weeks ago)

Been attempting to watch the original Starcade when I've had time the last few days.

1 - What a bloodbath (all of the early Starcades were). They even gashed open a jobber in one of the early matches and then two matches later when they went to the back for an interview, the poor kid was still laying sprawled out and bloodied on a bench. They just left him there unattended.

2 - The great Gordon Solie, unable to pronounce the new guy's name, kept referring to a young Tony Schiavone as Tony Sha-Phony.

Also randomly ran into what must have been the first meeting of one half or the Rockers and Hart Foundation, rummaging through early Mid-South episodes. Jannety was initially going by the name Marty Oates and was pretty much squashed here.

Wait until '85 when it's almost like a big FU to WWF who just started Wrestlemania. Almost every match is a bloodbath and has a gimmick attached.

Over Xmas I listened to the Bruce Prichard (brother love) pod on it.

Will do TLF for sure after watching.

"Bring it to the Table"

A new network show where Heyman and Bradshaw shill for the WWE and are condescending dicks to anyone who disagrees with anything this brilliant and perfectly flawless company does.

What a waste of a half hour.

That's pretty much what the LAW guys said. That one outsider disagrees and JBL/Heyman try to bash it in his head that he's wrong and WWE is the greatest product of all time.

I almost kind of got Heyman being in character, but JBL is a real life version of Patterson & Brisco during the Attitude Era. Just a Vince stooge.

I disagree with this. My biggest problem with that show was Heyman being in character. The whole show was positioned as being out of the universe or no kayfabe. To have Heyman be Lesnar's advocate instead of just Paul reeks of inconsistency. I did not like that at all

Just watched this and came to the thread to bitch, happy to see previous posts. Feel exactly the same as Chachi. The mix between JBL stooging and Heyman going in and out of character was annoying but the overall message of "you're wrong, we're right" just felt insulting.

Recently was up sick with the kids and fired up a random Nitro - It was the one right before Halloween Havoc 1999. I am now up to the Nitro after Mayhem. I think I have given up on WCW back then. I just assumed everything was garbage from this point on, but in some weird way, I don't 100 percent hate it.

Sure, my favorite game while playing is seeing how many matches in a row include outside interference (Hint, It's like 90 percent of matches).

Also, a large percentages of matches involve someone hanging in a cage or something on a pole match.

With that - and it's obviously hard for me to put into words - it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I mean there's still decent storylines to follow and the crowds are really hot. Additionally, it's fun to watch with hindsight and watch a pretty powerful and successful company slowly fade away. Not sure if I'll stick with it through the end, but it's ok for now.

It could be that a 32 man tournament for the WCW title started right after Havoc and I'm a mark for tournaments that hooked me.

I do believe that Russo/Ferrera took over the Monday prior to Mayhem. We'll see how good it is after that.
