Let's not forget the best example. The stock going down and board members getting concerned because Vince was removed from power on tv. Ludicrous. People are morons.

I resumed my consecutive network watchage a couple of months ago and Im up to Bash at the Beach 1995

Love the outdoor atmosphere but the matches have been rubbish

Loled at the promo about the mysterious Collision in Korea PPV happening then the very next scene was a Hogan promo featuring none other than Dennis Rodman, crazy foreshadowing of things to come

This is also the time of year when Isaac Yankem DDS was introduced and when Barry Horowitz was starting to get his push

I havent enjoyed much of this year so far tbh, ECW has probably had the most watchable stuff, cant wait till things pick up which Ive heard they will

ECW PPVs have started which is awesome, really liked Hardcore Heaven 1995 with Douglas' leaving for the WWF speech and interference

The rumble was wierd and seemed less epic with just 1 min intervals between entries

Have loved HBKs performances so far, man he was a talent

I have enjoyed watching Vader beating on Hogan through the year but you can tell he holds back on him a lot

A special shout out for Sandman's cheesy American stars and stripes pants he wore for a few months when he won the world title, the dude just didnt give a **** such a cool character

Also loving the Bill Alfonso heel referee angle at the mo, he is such an unlikeable dude and had lol interactions with Tod Gordon and co

That is sad, just watched his 1995 HOF speech on the network and he was one articulate guy

Bill Murray honoured him by doing a funny video bit while sitting on an elephant

This wiki quote is lol...

As Steele recalled in a later shoot interview, his infamous "Duh-dahh" interview style happened by accident. Throughout his career, Steele prided himself on being able to cut eloquent and effective promos, and ranked his mic skills with the best in the business. At a WWF TV taping in the early 1980s, he was cutting one of these promos when Vince McMahon cut him off, and reminded Steele that his gimmick was the "Animal", and for an animal he was "making too much sense". Incensed, Steele did a second take of nothing but garbled and incoherent syllables ("Duhh-dahh"). Steele did this deliberately, and out of pure frustration, thinking that McMahon would acquiesce and allow Steele to cut his normal, eloquent promos. Much to Steele's shock, McMahon replied, "That's exactly what I want!", and this would remain Steele's interview style for the rest of his WWF run. Steele started to fully cultivate his gimmick of a menacing imbecile.

lol.

Unrelated, anytime i catch an authentic with original sound mid 90s ECW video on YouTube or dailymotion I think about how magical that time was. It's like the start of the NWO/possible wwf invasion angle in that it just can't happen again. Which isn't to say awesome things can't happen, just that these things can't.

ECW was like pulp fiction. For years things were a certain way, and that was fine and people liked it; and then this new thing turned everything upside down.

and with ECW the people in charge weren't half assing it, it was all eggs/one basket and that's the only way you really find magic.

ECW 96-Early 00 was my favorite promotion ever. Staying up until 2am to watch every Friday night was so great and seeing it live the few times I did was an amazing experience.

Somehow I think you know the first real ppv was Barely Legal in April of 97. When I'm on my pc tomorrow, I gotta grab his announcement of the ppv at the ECW Arena and the video package that follows. Art.

Before BL, they had special shows that they sold (like HH 95) on vhs. The majority were ECW Arena shows but they sold others like Massacre on 34th St., Big Ass Extreme Bash, etc..

Lol I actually have minimal clues about anything from here on, literally zero clue about ECW, which is why its exciting progressing through this marathon Im on

HH95 was just the first ECW event available on the network under ECW PPVs

Those 2 doofuses who are in the front row of every ECW arena show who have signs are ****ing me off a bit now lol

Every ECW PPV will be amazing Im sure compared to the fizzers Ive watched from the big 2 companies of this year

Paul E. announcing the very first ECW ppv is on the 2/5/97 episode from 0:00-2:40. It seems like it cuts out quite a bit in the beginning but he starts at that exact point in the original airing of this show. Everyone should watch those 2 and a half minutes to see how much passion the crowd had and how Paul had everyone in the palm of his hand.

The music afterward makes this really ****ing bad. When they go to black, it has the ECW opening theme and the video package for Taz vs. Sabu is set to Metallica's "King Nothing". Absolutely amazing. I'm going to download it and upload it on YT in the next couple of days.

I love those guys . I assume you mean the pineapple hat guy and the Howard Stern looking fella always in black with glasses?

edit 2: I downloaded that show and will likely have it up on Saturday. Video package is GOAT.

edit 3: ugh. The video package on this version is just the ECW theme song looped over and over. It's funny too because when it cuts to Joey Styles, it's playing the end of King Nothing. Sad because that's the only version I found of this show .

edit 4: here's the version I d/l'ed. Daily Motion link

Interesting AOL Q and A with Vince Mcmahon in 1995

Apparently he found the violence in ECW deplorable

That was back around the time that Vince had decided to marginalize WCW for being overly violent and over the top, while pushing his own product as wholesome family entertainment. It was purely business strategy. And obviously if he's going to take that public stance re: WCW then certainly there's no choice but to feign disgust with ECW.

Keep watching. You'll see that Vince's only possible problem with risque TV is if it's being used to cut into his market share.

Lol yep pretty obvious he thought the family entertainment route was the most profitable one to take at that time, it was a pity for him that most of that product was ****

He sorta ackowledged that he could learn a bit from ECW which was interesting

I liked the answer to "have you ever thought of getting in the ring yourself?"

"Ive never been big enough or bad enough to be a WWF superstar, being 50 years old, I would be better suited to wrestling for WCW"

Oh ****, Eric Bischoff just spoiled the main event of my next Raw episode and I was a bit shocked lol

Massive WWF shats fired there

As Sting was making his entrance, Eric says " If youre thinking about changing channels to check out the competition dont bother. Its 3 weeks old, Shawn Michaels knocked out the big guy with a super kick that wouldnt earn a green belt in the YMCA"

This must be the start of the fabled Monday Night War Ive seen a bit about (and avoided ****loads of spoilers about) and its awesome after the dullness of 1995 so far lol

why aren't the Japan or Hawaii shows getting a network special this year? Should be used as an opportunity to get some exposure the NXT stars that are eventually going to be on the main roster

Love that promo so much. It's worth seeking out Austin doing a promo as Hogan in ECW a week or two after this promo.
