That was akin to the "Higher Power" angle in 1999 WWF. Dumb and then when it was revealed was just mehhhh.

what?!

That is still one of my favorite Raw moments. JR's AW SON OF A BITCH is so perfect.

The actual reveal moment seems to have good nostalgia value, because of the great gif if nothing else, and I agree that JR's reaction is fun. But it was so damn predictable that the reveal was going to be Vince; I remember watching that episode with friends and us all going "c'mon, this is Vince, just get on with it."

I assume by series, youre thinking of the Rock Mankind I quit match, because I cannot watch that now knowing about brain damage. How the hell is Mick still walking

That's the one. I love Eddie nearly bleeding to death, but I can't watch the i quit match post handcuffs

The documentary (Beyond the Mat or whatever it was) cut on that Rock-Mankind sequence is especially brutal, with Foley's wife having enough and taking the kids and leaving because she couldn't watch anymore.

And if I'm remembering correctly, Foley was trying to signal Rocky to stop, and Rocky missed the signal and took three more shots or something.

It's certainly exceptionally lucky that Foley is still functional at all. If he lives to a decent age and still has all his marbles at the time that he dies, I'll be very happy to see it.

RAW 3/23/98

Starts with Austin getting informed of a match against Rocky later...Stunner on Sgt. for his antagonistic troubles.

NAO attack Foley/Funk during their match with The Quebecers and leave them laying.

Slam of the Week is HBK giving SCM to SCSA. Remember when finishers were devestating and actually a thing?

T-E-NN-E...out to introduce J-E-FF-J-..... for his match vs "The Walking Weapon". "Double J catches him. Wow! Whatamaneuver!!!" - not Vince. And your winner is: Nobody. Especially not Blackman who suffered his first loss.

Kane makes WWF look more unrealistic than ever but then does something really cool and lights somebody on fire so it's ok.

A cluster**** ensues during DOA/New Midnights tag to hype the 15 team battle royal. I'm unsure how not announcing more than half the teams for the battle royal is hyping it. Also, don't the LOD get back together at WM because WWF realized nobody wanted them to break-up in the first place? I talked to soon. Fans chanted for them during the cluster**** so I imagine that's what put them back together.

DX comes out and talks at us. Something is dubbed out when HBK is talking. Really curious what these edits are. However, I'm sure if I saw them for real, I wouldn't really care so I'm not going to bother. "You are 'Heartbreak'" LOL Tyson.

Rock cracks Farooq with a chair during Farooq's match with Chainz. Finally The Rock is seemingly done with the Nation.

The New Blackjacks EXPLODE!!! One of them win.

Luna attacks Sable with the RAW magazine cover plaque. omg She bashed that thing over her head legit. That was just insane. I was looking for a gif of this but couldn't find. However, I found this, it'll have to do:

Here we go! Austin vs Rock! Rock vs Austin! As happened so many times in the future: Stunner > 1-2-3. HBK walked to the ring to end the RAW before Mania. Pretty mehhh. Should've have the ending from two weeks prior with HBK cleverly not being at RAW ending up being there and kicking Austin's head off. That would've been perfect.

On to WrestleMania 14!!!

Maria is still involved in wrestling?

Yeah, she's in ROH being unspeakably hot in front of a much smaller audience.

Yeah she's still ridiculously hot.

I have never seen her before, but she really needs to be on my television more.

If you have the network you can go back to the mid 2000s for some really good stuff.

I wonder if she hates the way her upper arms look. She always seems to be wearing sleeves no matter how little else she is wearing.

Does she actually wrestler in roh, or mostly valet?

Mostly valet though she's been involved in a couple of mixed tags over the years.

She also posed for Playboy while in WWE.

Well I guess Im just going to have to do a bit of investigating into this. On a related note, how the hell is it possible that I cant watch ROH in the Chicago market?

She's married to a guy there called Mike Bennett who isn't the greatest wrestler but can cut pretty good promos. They had a decent feud with Steen(Owens) where Maria played an awesome heel.

Somebody's review of Reigns on 24/7 thingy on Network:

Quote:
I just watched the WWE 24/7 thingy on Reigns that they put on the network. It's your typical WWE propaganda presenting Reigns as the second coming of Jesus christ and Ghandi, all wrapped into one handsome package, but still it was worth the watch.
I won't watch it.

WM 14 had been stalled. It stalled right as Mero/Sable vs Goldust/Luna was starting. Not surprised tbh. But I just finished that as well as Shamrock/Rock. I wonder if I'll get through this this week.

Spoiler:
I CAN! I WILL!

What's the consensus on Shamrock here? Did you guys like him? He was over with the crowd, but so was Ryback at one point.
**WWE NETWORK THREAD** Quote

Shamrock was decent in the ring and a completely worthless numbskull on the mic. I didn't mind him overall.
**WWE NETWORK THREAD** Quote

I didn't find him entertaining in the least when he was around. When he was announced at WM, I was psyched because I was a kid who loved ECW and "real fighting" and rented all the UFC events at the video stores. After WM I was utterly unimpressed and I was pretty easy to please at that age.

Now, I think he's ok in the ring but his "snapping" his just so ****ing ******ed. And this even comes into play @ WM. Just stupid. His match vs Undertaker at NWO 1999 is the epitome of boredom. I'm not sure there is a more boring match in the history of wrestling. 20+ minutes of....idk wtf they were doing.

I truly don't think it's possible to be more boring than Jake vs. Rude from WrestleMania IV, but admittedly I don't remember this Shamrock-Taker match.

I think it was WM VII, the blindfold match between Jake and Martel was pretty damn boring as well
**WWE NETWORK THREAD** Quote
05-06-2015 , 08:04 PM
I thought that was entertaining enough and was only like 7 minutes.
