So who's next on Jericho's podcast? Making Roman look long?

Edge vs Matt Hardy - SummerSlam 05: Great physical, brutal match. A meh ending but it's a logical ending to a fight and it extends the feud which is what we want here. Would recommend. It's only around an 8 minute match. There are no bubbles on the SS 05 video but it's at match starts around the 18 minute mark. Video package around 14 minute mark. Loved Lillian's outfit at this event as well.

Suddenly feel like watching a string of violent matches today.

Matt Hardy vs Edge - Cage Match - Unforgiven 2005. I said top 3 ever. Possibly the very best. Go watch this. It showed HATE!!! ****3/4

Currently watching Sting vs Cactus - FCA - Beach Blast 92. One of the funnest matches I've ever seen. A true breakout performance for Cactus. Sting and Cactus bumped like madmen for each other. I honestly don't even see how this could have even been any better. ****1/2

On tap for the near future:
Mick Foley vs Randy Orton - Backlash 2004
Flair vs HHH - Cage @ Taboo Tuesday 06
Foley/Edge/Lita vs Dreamer/Funk/Beulah @ ONS 06
Batista vs HHH - HiaC @ Vengeance 2005 (way underrated. go watch if you've never seen this)
Cactus vs HHH - Royal Rumble 2000
Foley vs Taker - HiaC @ KotR 98

I see a trend above too...

Not too familiar with ECW that's uploaded on the Network atm aside from the ppvs. I'm sure 93-96 had some brutal stuff. Hmmm, I have seen Axl Rotten vs Ian Rotten in a match where they had shards of glass glued to the tape around their first and another barbaric match of theirs. I wonder if those are on there since they happened sometime before 97...

edit: shockingly this match is acknowledged on wwe.com
edit 2: match(es) are not on the Network.

Don't know how many know this but towards the end of that strap match, the artery in Vader's ear was accidentally cut. Sting was putting the blade used on his back or forehead into his tape, punched Vader and cut him. Vader said that it was hell just trying to stand up.

Watched Flair vs HHH from Taboo Tuesday 2005. Great match. Wasn't really a match as much as it was a war. Both guys had their entire heads covered in blood by the end. ****1/2+. Gonna watch again and see if I'll throw it in my 5* match list. That will probably be the last true cage match in WWE for some time. It's been nearly 10 years since it happened, too. So sad. Probably goes without saying: I recommend this match. 2005 was the year for violence in WWE.

Is that the one with the incredibly contrived spot with the chair being placed somewhere that it would never possibly naturally be so that Flair could bring it in?

(Still a pretty good match.)

Not sure. Missed that part. Was only 3/4 watching it because of something or another. I hadn't remembered who won so it was much funner to watch that way. Wish my mind could reset whenever I watch matches lol.

I just remember that one thing being super annoying to me, but otherwise I remember the match positively.

I remember reading something on it a while ago. It was an angle based on a real situation (Edge stealing Lita away from Matt) where nobody was really sure how much of it was a show and how much of it was those two just fighting and Vince giving them a platform to do it on. The way it came off to me was more in line with it just basically being a fight with an official to make sure nobody under contract got seriously hurt, but I can't say for certain. It's an interesting watch though.

RAW 3/16/98

RAW opens with some voice that I've never heard before announcing Shamrock coming to the ring. I wonder who that is...no, really, idfk who it is. Shamrock is interviewed about his temper. I always hated his "snapping" storyline or whatever you'd call it. Incredibly corny and he portrays it awfully. You can't just belly-to-belly one ref and flex and say "omg i've snapped", you have to keep going until people stop you and you acknowledge it later. "Know your role" and "jabroni" come out of The Rock's mouth for the first time in this segment. Shamrock takes one of the sickest chairshots to the face you will ever see.

You really have to hear that chair shot to do it justice.

Random thought: Have never watched Survivor Series 98 but really looking forward to it. Lots of people call it one of the greatest ppvs ever because of the storyline. Regretably, I know the end result. /random thought

The Phoenix Suns Gorilla slides down from the roof, gets on commentary and takes JR's hat!!!! Being in Tucson, I absolutely love Mr. Gorilla and the Phoenix Suns

Tennessee Lee (what?) introduces Double J as a "better entertainer than Elvis". He comes in on a flashing horse!!! I don't like Jarrett, may have mentioned this. I do like Robert Fuller. He was never used to his full potential. It's Jarrett vs Brandi so I'm sure this is the last of my commentary ont his segment. Wrong! Salvatore hits the sickest Rude Awakening I have ever seen. This is how it ended up and looked like it broke Jarrett in half:

Showing more of the Suns Gorilla...now I remember what his fate was.

Rock n' Rolls + Cornette vs Headbangers - who wouldn't look forward to this? Headbangers win. Cornette never gets in the ring. Bob Holly and Bart Gunn attack the Headbangers after the match for Cornette. Oh, I get it. "Bombastic" Bob and "Bodacious" Bart are "The New Midnight Express". The News attack the RnR's!!! It's like 1987 all over again!!!

Please run Gorilla!!! run! run!! RUN!!!

Should've ran, dumbass.

Chainsaw Charlie continues to be the worst thing on the show.

Sable challenged Luna earlier and says "she only does things when she says she'll do them"...so she accepts Sable's challenge for tonight. ok then.

Vince interviewed and says that he'd have broken Austin's jaw if he had fought Austin last week. I have a feeling business will pick up. "Do you want to see SCSA as champion after WM?" Oh ****. "It's not just a no...." Vince. "..and that's the bottom line because Vince McMahon said so".

HHH won the Euro championship somehow. Pretty clever iyam GOADING him into a match and Chyna ****ing him.

Main event is Luna vs Sable. And people said the only ladies thing to ME was Trish vs Lita. Of course it never starts, so I guess Trish/Lita stands alone. Kane comes down to get some of Sable!!! Taker's gong!!! Lights are out. Where is he?!?!? On top of the titantron!!! You couldn't pay me enough to do that....well maybe for a grand. Kane burns to end the show. Well not Kane, but Kane.

A+++++++ episode.

From my recollection there may not be a single decent match on the card, which to me takes it way, way out of the running for GOAT PPV. It was salvaged by a well-done storyline and I certainly enjoyed it at the time, but when you know the ending it's not that great of a watch today.

I ****ing love this segment so much. It's less novel now I guess after watching him be an elite on-screen talent forever since this time, but it really marked the moment as a viewer that I could tell how well Vince was going to work as a heel.

That is absolutely the single grossest chairshot ever.

There have been far worse series of chair shots, but that one is the single cringiest one I've seen

I liked Coach too.

Watched Road Warriors/Dusty vs Powers of Pain/Ivan from CotC 1. Saw it in the bubbles and figured I'd check it before the main event. Match was **** but sometimes a crowd can make a match good. I think the crowd did this with just about every Dusty and RW match.

Lol Black Scorpion angle at Starrcade 90

I only figured out he was Flair as he walked to the ring and I could recognize his jaw

He did a good job of not wrestling like Flair too but because of that the match was ****e
