In Your House October '95 was also unspeakably bad, though probably not to the depths of that Uncensored event.

Oh yeah, King of the Ring '95, that was maybe even worse than In Your House October '95. Mabel wins a tournament, and the main event features Bam Bam and Nash against Sid and Tatanka. I mean, ****.

1995 was a dark period. I never could have stuck through it as an adult.

Great American Bash 1991 is the worst PPV to sit through I can think of. Only one match that was decent, and that match wasn't even built up because Ric Flair was supposed to be in it and he suddenly left the company right beforehand as champion. The match was for the world title and nobody cared; the crowd was chanting "We want Flair!" almost the entire time.

Was that the one where they used a fake championship belt because the replacement wcw title hadn't been delivered? That's up there too

Yeah Dusty Rhodes took one of his old territory belts and slapped a different label on it.

Capitol Punishment 2010. R-Truth headlined a ppv in a singles match.
December to Dismember 2006. Just, what?
I'm going to say Fast Lane was god awful because I hated the main event as well as everything else.

Seriously this IS actually a spoiler for me with my scarce historical watching and my in order viewage of network content

I cant read this thread now lol

Vader vs Goldust - Decent enough. Pretty cool ending. They have a top tier match at a CotC event in 93 or 94. Good enough to seek out and enjoy.
6-man midget match w/Sunny as ref - Watched five minutes, saw there was another 7ish left and skipped. Boring as **** with every move being turned into an armdrag. The armdrag thing was also an irritating thing in WCW with their cruiserweights.
Shamrock vs Rock - Decent match with an extremely predictable finish but it was fun to see the HUGE crowd pop for Shamrock winning the belt.
LoD vs NAO - Passable. Doesn't feel like a great finish for the feud to have an ending like that. Speaking of ending, it was almost the end of Billy Gunn's career with how Animal nearly broke his neck, came about 2" from doing so. I guess for whatever reason they didn't want to strap the LoD. I don't understand why Hawk kept half of his hair after the NAO shaved it 4+ weeks before hand.
Rumble match - The constant "omg is Austin going to make it?" was ridiculous. Shocked they didn't edit out Austin choking D-Lo with his jacket. Seeing Austin vs Rock in the Rumble and then them as the final two was great. Rock had a great showing. Rumble was passable but meh.
Undertaker vs HBK - Absolutely fantastic match. Way better than I anticipated. Before the interference was brilliant and even the interference was brilliant as DX and NAO had been allies recently and on the last two RAWs Los Boricuas had been paid off by DX to take people out. Power ratings time! WM 25 > RR 98 > Badd Blood > WM 26.

Overall I'd give this a 7/10. Every match bar the midgets was decent with one being awesome.

If only the Mark Remark was around for this golden commentary.
Lawler: Who's going to be able to throw Mark Henry out? Nobody.
Ross: Maybe if somebody uses a catapillar.

On the road to WrestleMania!!!

<3 Rumble 1998. I watched it a few months ago thinking that it would be garbage because "I was just a stupid youngster back then thinking it was real," sort of like what happened when I watched Rumble 99. To my surprised, it was fairly good. I still got chills when the glass broke and the action in the ring stopped, even enjoyed Shamrock "winning" the IC belt. Good PPV then, and I'm happy that it still holds up.

Probably going to give Mania 15 a watch this weekend, just for the lawls.

Austin coming out and everybody stopping was great. However, being logical...there's no reason at all for the other wrestlers to stop bashing Austin until he was out but they randomly just ****ed each other after 15 seconds of beating Austin up. Whatever. Loved the irony of them (Austin/Rock) also being the last two in the 2001 Rumble 3 years later.

The event FAR surpassed my expectations. Guess that's why they say it's best to go in with low expectations .

I've not seen any match from 15 aside from Rock/Austin which I thought was fantastic.

The XV edition of Rock-Austin didn't do much for me, but admittedly that might be partially owing to the fact that I watched the rest of XV first, and the rest of the show is soul-suckingly terrible. I was likely just ready for the show to be over when Rock and Austin came out.

That's the big knife to this match.

Well that and vestless Austin because Debra forgot to pack his vest and the wardrobe team was so poor back then they didn't have a spare.

From what I remember, he said he was going through a nasty divorce at the time and he said when he left the house, he forgot his vest.

....

What I'm finding as I go back and watch some of these PPV's from 98-99 (don't have the Network, pretty much all of them are on the web), is that a lot of them are underwhelming aside for the big matches on the card. Unforgiven 98? Bad for the most part. St. Valentines Day Massacre 99? Forgettable outside of Rock/Mankind and Austin/Vince. And as already mentioned, Rumble 99 and Mania 15. Hell, Mania 14 is only "okay" I think. The dumpster match was good, UT/Kane was too slow, HBK and Austin could have been better, but was still good. Everything else? Meh. Silly me, forgot HHH vs Owen. I enjoyed it.

Is it just me? What does everybody else think?

RAW after RR 98 (1/18/98)

Paul Bearer coming out to Undertaker's music was pretty meh. Was pretty obvious what was happening when Taker's music hit again with Kane coming down in the casket but damn if I didn't markout like a giddy kid when I first saw this. The delivery of Kane was just impeccable.

Brandi vs Mero!!!! Better match than the week before but hopefully this **** is over. I looked for that Mero burial mentioned earlier. Was pretty funny with the "he's just not up to where we thought he would be".

HBK coming out of the rafter (ala Sting) as The Undertaker. I actually remembered this despite not seeing it since it happened. Marked the f out for this too. The party in the hearse in the back that preceded this segment was also pretty damn good.

Ahmed vs The Rock - ugh. Ahmed is so terrible in the ring and always with a disturbing wedgie. I just can't get into him at all. As a kid I ate him up.

Some pretty terrible filler in this episode. I mean, Owen/Taka/Headbangers vs Los Boricuas? That's the nut low.

But then there was the epicness that people still talk about today: "Tyson and Austin!!! Tyson and Austin!!! All hell has broken loose!!!" jfc, JR was so damn elite. I actually didn't realize the segment was that long and Austin talked for that long. His promo was gold (weren't all of them?).

The RAW was trash for wrestling but the two main story lines along with the HHH/Owen and Rock/Shamrock stuff was just top tier storyline advancement.

Oddly enough, the mixed tag match of Goldust/Luna vs. Mero/Sable was really enjoyable IIRC, at least compared to most matches of its kind. WM XIV was a solid show even though Taker-Kane was bad.

Since they've uploaded all of the 98 Raws I've been going through them 2-3 a night ang getting the PPVs watched in order.

Everything was just so good. I still can't get over how amazing they progessed storylines. Currently 2-3 Raws before Mania. Excited to to the end of the year. Hopefully all of 99 is there by then.

Opening segment of RAW after WM 14 is easily in my top 5 segments of all time. It might even be #1.

RAW on 1/26/98:

Surprisingly a total filler show aside from Owen beating HunterDust for the Euro championship. An announcement of two matches for the IYH ppv. A #1 contender match for the LHW title between Brian Christopher and Pantera (who?).

This is the first time that they've even mentioned Taka Michanoku in all these RAWs or the RR. I didn't even know that there was a LHW champ at the time. Pretty lolzy.

Completely skippable show.

I found this episode to be almost schizophrenic in nature. It had wonder spots and low spots. The pop that crowd had during the LOD/DOA match was crazy when everything broke down in the ring. I think WWE would kill for their main event to get that kind of pop.

The Ahmed/Rock match was just out of whack from start to finish. here was a People's Elbow in the first minute with no fanfare. A giant F bomb by Ahmed, and a blant call by Ahmed picked up by both the camer and the ring mic.

The coffin skit was meh and predictable, although as predictable as it was today, I wonder if I felt the same way the first time it aired.

But that promo at the end was the beginning of the WWF surge, and my favorite part was the giant wad of cash one of Tyson's entourage members shoved into his pocket after it fell out of what I am assuming was Tyson's pocket during the melee. Now I know this was near 20 years ago, but I could have done without the homophobic slur that Tyson yelled at the camera during the very last shot backstage.

I looked for the cash flying every time they aired it in replays but can never see it or the guy stuffing it. Didn't hear the slur you're talking about.
