What is happening
Jinder got hotshotted in a #1 contender match in the same way that Sheamus did back when he suddenly won the title as a noob a few years back.
Even if I believe everyone that he's performed well since, there's just no way to make a sudden hotshot push a good one. They should have had him go on a win streak first.
i mean if i have to watch reigns coronation for the fourth year in a row then the least you can do is give me aj/nak on the other side. and im probably one of the more pro reigns guys on the board

Idk, I guess if youve been keeping up its not as weird, but hearing Jinder Mahal is being pushed to the moon makes it sound like the WWE finally hired TradeOC as a writer
Oh yeah, I wanted to also mention that the promo package for Styles/Owens where it was in black and white except for the blue in the smackdown set and the red in the styles gear looked really cool

If anything, the fact that he's had matches since (I assume he's won them) sort of makes the whole push a bit worse, since it's basically this meta thing where it's just the company announcing "so yeah we're pushing him now, this is a guy who wins now." Seems like you keep more mystery if you just have him win that hotshot match and then keep him out of matches until the PPV.

na, its really weird still. ive barely been watching outside of youtube clips for the last monthish. im basing "over" based on what im reading + the reactions ive seen for him in clips (of which idk if they are legit or played with or what)
FWIW a heel quick push is not that untraditional, I would expect a dirty dirty finish if he gets strapped up like one Singh brother distracts the ref while another hits orton with brass knuckles

I struggle to think of other such extreme examples of going from full-on jobber to main event. R-Truth at Capitol Punishment a few years ago is sorta close I guess. Sheamus a few years ago hadn't really been around long enough to be a jobber or anything when he got hotshotted.
Knowing how the WWE operates, I put Jinder winning this at around 10/15% just because they think it could spur Network buys in India. I have no idea what the betting line is on this match, but I would have no issues putting a few dollars down on Mahal getting at least 10-1

Yeah it's probably near the top as far as hotshot ting quickness goes but the fact a lot of people assume mahal gonna go over orton is a statement on the quality of mahals performances of late imo. It would make more sense if AJ had us championship and mahal came out of nowhere to battle for that or something, but at least Jinder has been putting together good work since getting his chance
