They've botched him pretty horribly along with just about everyone else recently called up from NXT.
Bo and Rusev seem to be doing pretty well. I don't love how they're using Paige, but I'd hardly say she was botched. Emma's simply not playing the same character, but she did a good job given how they opted to use her. I wouldn't even say they botched Rose, I just don't enjoy the character in-ring, but it seems plenty over.
If you're expecting NXT gimmicks to work vs a WWE audience you're crazy. They have to change and get broader. It's just two very different audiences and contexts.
They're teasing a Roman/Dean vs Seth/Bray match in the local ads for the 8/12 (right before SummerSlam) Smackdown. I assume that's hella subject to change.

That might mean we're getting a Bray vs Roman feud. You'd expect Seth vs Ambrose at Summerfest anyway.
Wasn't he rumored to win the briefcase in 2012 and got injured just before the event?
The big rumor leading up to WM that year was they were going to do MitB at WM, have one case that can be used on either champion, and that Barrett was winning. Leading up to WM, the Big Show injured him in a battle royal spot where Show was supposed to throw Ziggler over the top rope and Barrett was supposed to break the fall, but Show overthrew Ziggler and when Barrett tried to adjust he dislocated his elbow.
It was never 100% confirmed that this was the case, it was just reported well ahead of the injury that it was the plan, which was then scrapped due to the Barrett injury.
Smackdown for Friday:
Ziggler pinned twice
Gold/Stardust defeated by Los ****ing Matadores
Also looks like the Sheamus/Rusev program is going ahead, so there's that. Though at this rate, not sure if I actually want Rusev with a belt right now.
seriously maddening that they keep doing this ****. they show flashes of understanding how to build things, then they just ruin them.
Because creative has about 3 dozen people and you get a different majority week to week and issue to issue. And because Vince has always been one to change things at the last second. And because so many of the people in creative are just wannabe TV show writers that don't understand wrestling.
From what I read of the Ziggler thing it's basically him losing to Kane and then getting a "match" with Seth after where they beat him down. Which makes sense, #TeamCena needs a reason to want to win at Survivor Series, right?
Dunno about the Dust Bros, but getting angry about one line results to wrestling matches seems goofy.
Well yes, it is. This is wrestling, they're telling stories. What matters is the story, not the ending, not at they're breaking some imagined rule about how you think the stories should be told.
There's so many valid reasons to be critical, and "the champions lose too much" is obviously one of them, but why not wait to have that conversation until you've got a full picture of what happened?
There is literally no defensible reason for DustBros as tag champs (or ever, really) to lose to Los Matadores. Since Los Matadores are the faces, they didn't cheat to win. So they either won clean, or someone came out and distracted DustBros, allowing LM the 'surprise' win. That 'distraction' finish is both asinine and masssssively overused. I hate that the only thing WWE allows as finishes are finishers and distraction-based rollups. Superplex through tables is a two count, but if you roll me up from behind because I was watching my rival's TitanTron video, 95% three count.
They need to look at how they book matches like 2/3 falls and Survivor Series matches, and allow things like that to be finishes in regular matches.
Someone beat the tag champs, now they get a title match. 99% of the time that is the full picture. It's lazy writing and something they keep doing. I think people are fine to critique it based on the result due to WWE's lack of doing anything interesting with mid card champions, especially the tag champs.
Ziggler and Cesaro could have done something a lot more interesting than "you beat me, I beat you lets have another match."
