Re: Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
Well, that was unsurprising that ADR won it and is facing Sheamus. The question is what does Orton or Jericho do (I don't know why I mentioned Jericho, he's about to go back to doing Fozzy stuff, which includes doing Download (biggest rock festival in England))?

Re: Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
Watched the internat'l edition of sd! D-bry's run-in was really well done and surprising. They are so in on the badass, limb snapping, intelligent d-bry and it's awesome. Though this mini-feud could distract from Punk/Bryan II if that's next (or we just got our run-in candidate).

Re: Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
Ryback was ****ing amazing.
I might have to go back on him never getting over squashing random nobodies if he keeps doing double stack fisherman running Samoan drops and that sick deadlift powerbomb move.
He should be moved straight into the main event level.

OK, pause that thought, Ricardo doing his own introduction then having a match in his tux was greater

I really enjoy Ryback also. Hope he's in the SD Money in the Bank match this summer.

Yeah Ryback is awesome. I think it would be cool if they kept him, Brodus, and Tensai all undefeated then have the three have a triple threat match at SummerSlam.

Re: Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
Our "I hope that this does not actually happens" suspicions has been confirmed. Its the one in bold.
Smackdown Spoilers for this week.
Quote:
Booker T came out to a massive pop, while Michael Cole drew the usual massive heat. Lilian Garcia received nice applause.
There was a notable statement during the opening video. They said the WWE Championship will be defended for the first time on Smackdown in four years. They claimed it was eight years on Monday's Raw, so which is it?
Sheamus is out first to address World Hvt. Championship match with Alberto Del Rio at No Way Out. David Otunga came out to interrupt him. He set up a replay Sheamus bowling over John Laurinaitis when he ran out to help John Cena on Raw last week. He demanded an apology. Sheamus rebuffed him.
Alberto Del Rio came out to add his two cents. Otunga stated that Del Rio would be allowed to pick Sheamus's opponent for the night. Sheamus Brogue Kicked the hell out of Otunga. Del Rio bailed and Sheamus stood tall in the ring.
1. Sin Cara defeated Heath Slater. Sin Cara came out with new red and white ring attire and a new pyro set entrance but with the same strip club lighting. Sin Cara won with a tilt-a-whirl face buster on Slater. No botches except for a small awkward spot when his foot was caught under the rope.
There was hype for the WWE Championship match for later in the show.
Ezekiel Jackson still has a job, as he came out. Damien Sandow followed and took the mic for a promo. He blew off the match, but Zeke tossed him back in the ring and the match was underway.
2. Damien Sandow defeated Ezekiel Jackson. They traded offense and Sandow finished with his neckbreaker. He did a cartwheel in the ring.
There was a backstage segment between Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio. Ziggler wanted to be Sheamus's opponent and got his wish. Ryback is up next. Joy.
3. Ryback beat two jobbers. The jobbers were billed as being from Alabama, so they chanted Roll Tide Roll. Ryback got a good pop when he came out as a result. Goldberg...er...Ryback finished the kids with a double muscle buster. He got an LSU chant and jogged to the ring until the reaper came out and took the meat sacks in the ring out. Same old stuff. Time for a feud or get him off TV. It's old now.
Vickie Guerrero came out with Dolph Ziggler and vowed to end Sheamus tonight. At this point, all we've really gotten is matches and one backstage segment, so it will be a wrestling heavy show for Friday's television show or they'll tape other segments later and add them in. Sheamus came out to another massive pop. He's really over.
4. Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero). The action came at a decent pace with Ziggler hitting a top rope facebuster on Sheamus. Jack Swagger ran out to help Ziggler and messed him up. He ate a Brogue Kick to end the match. You'd think a cannon went off and shot Dolph with the way he sold it. Good match. The crowd was very into the match.
Darren Young and Titus O'Neil come out for a tag match. We get a backstage segment with Striker and Punk putting over the WWE Title match. Santino Marella and Zack Ryder came out. Hey, a Ryder sighting!!!
5. Santino Marella and Zack Ryder defeated Darren Young and Titus O'Neil. Santino got a roll up in less than two minutes. Big Show came out and tossed Marella into the WWE sign on the stage. Ryder got tossed around ringside as Titus and Darren exited the arena. Show took the bigger half of the ring steps up the ramp and slammed Ryder on them. Santino got the same treatment on the steps with a Camel Clutch. Show hit him with a WMD to massive heat. Show stared out at the crowd before leaving.
There was a backstage segment with Daniel Bryan telling A.J. that C.M. Punk is only using her.
6. Cody Rhodes defeated Tyson Kidd. Poor Tyson didn't even get a ring entrance for the live crowd. He deserves better. A nice fast paced match. Cody won in less than two minutes. Cody and Christian jawed for a minute after the match.
Kane was shown backstage and the WWE Championship match was up next.
7. C.M. Punk fought Kane to a DQ finish when Daniel Bryan interfered in a WWE Championship match. Slow and plodding at start. The crowd got into it toward the end. Daniel Bryan ran out. He's way over. Bryan attacked both men, and the red called the bell for a DQ finish. Kane ended up chokeslamming both men at the same time.
Big Johnny comes out and declared the WWE Championship match at No Way Out a Triple Threat match.
Bryan and punk were left in the ring with AJ. Bryan tried to get her to leave with him, but she left without either one of them. Bryan slapped Punk twice. Punk gave Bryan a GTS. The fans loved it.

The worst thing to come out of the whole thing is if Kane won the belt. But then again, Kane has been mostly treated as a big-time midcard act/jobber at times, so who know. Maybe, the nice change-up would be for Bryan to win the belt and have Punk chase it in the end in a match that really brings out all their potential in the ring (submission match, iron man match).

Re: Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
You are definitely seeing monsters under the bed there. Kane is never winning the WWE title even as a paper champ.
The triple threat is almost certainly to put Bryan over without Punk losing, who they want to keep uber strong. I also think Punk and Bryan could get a really good match out of Kane, esp with the right stipulations (falls count anywhere ftw so Bryan can lock in the YES Lock on the top of the stage etc).
I see this as still very early in their feud so I couldnt care less that we arent getting a pure one on one. The two of them are going to be at the top of the cards for a few years facing each other.

Re: Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
Yeah pretty much co-sign what Phill says, though who knows about the "few years" thing. Hopefully that's right.
Now that it's a triple threat, Bryan is like 80+% to go over.

Re: Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
A no-DQ brawl with Kane and guys who bump really well (and after Ziggler, I can't readily think of people who bump better than Punk and Bryan right now in the WWE) sounds great to me. No, it probably won't be as good as their one-on-one stuff, but if they're going to have these guys face off a lot then they need some variety in how they do it.

Re: Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
SD was so so so good this week. Maybe my favorite SD in the last year. Everything pretty much made sense. There were 2 excellent matches, Ryback murdered 2 dudes again, Cody/Christian was built a bit more, Ryder/Santino got murdered (though I could have done without them beating Young/Oneil, but I guess 50/50 so w/e), I love everything about Damien Sandow, even Sin Cara's new gear is cool (they removed his trampoline entrance tho, boo, less botches).
Just great all around.

Re: Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
This week's smackdown has a lot of donotwant.jpg to it.
Quote:
* Alberto Del Rio opens the show with a promo about his attack on Sheamus on Raw. Sheamus‘ music hits and Ricardo Rodriguez comes out dressed as Sheamus. Del Rio and Ricardo, as Sheamus, discuss their match at No Way Out before Teddy Long interrupts. Long reveals that John Laurinaitis put him in control tonight and announces the main event: Sheamus vs. Kane. In addition, he announces that Alberto Del Rio vs. The Great Khali will be taking place immediately.
* Alberto Del Rio w/ Ricardo Rodriguez b. The Great Khali by submission with the cross armbreaker.
* Backstage, Naomi & Cameron are dancing for Teddy Long when Brodus Clay walks in. Long informs Clay that he is now a permanent member of the Smackdown roster. Clay says that he’ll treat his opponent tonight like he would treat Big Show after his assault last week.
* Brodus Clay b. Derrick Bateman. Clay, Naomi, & Cameron danced in the ring with kids after the win.
* Sin Cara b. Drew McIntyre. In a segment that was likely just for the live crowd, McIntyre cut a promo after the match about his spot in the company, but Triple H interrupted and gave him a Pedigree.
* Ryback b. two jobbers in a squash match. The jobbers cut a promo before the match about being fans of the hometown rivals.
* The Peep Show set is in the ring, but Cody Rhodes comes out and destroys it. Christian comes out and Rhodes says that no one believes that he is a changed man. Christian explains, saying that inducting Edge into the Hall of Fame made him realize that he wants to be remembered as a champion, not someone who whined about one more match. Dolph Ziggler interrupts, ready to compete.
* Christian b. Dolph Ziggler
* Michael Cole cuts a promo about moving on from what happened on Raw. Jim Ross‘ music hits, but Hornswoggle comes out dressed as JR. Hornswoggle starts talking to Cole, but Damien Sandow interrupts with a mic. Sandow starts tearing into Hornswoggle, but Tyson Kidd interrupts and chases Sandow out of the ring. Kidd turns to Hornswoggle, and Sandow sneaks back into the ring to assault Kidd. Sandow hits his finisher on Kidd and poses for the crowd.
* Matt Striker interviews Kane backstage about his match at No Way Out. Striker then asks about AJ, and Kane simply walks away. AJ then appears from behind some boxes in the background.
* Antonio Cesaro w/ Aksana b. Jimmy Uso. Teddy Long announced Cesaro’s entrance and raised his hand after the victory.
* Sheamus b. Kane by disqualification when Alberto Del Rio interfered. Del Rio attacked Sheamus, but Kane got involved and attacked Del Rio. After getting rid of Del Rio, AJ appeared on the ramp and stared at Kane, which allowed Sheamus to attack Kane, ending the show.
|
Christian vs Ziggler is probably a must see if they get a reasonable amount of time, Ryback will be a fun minute or two, AJ is awesome so will keep me watching I guess but the rest can *****IYAM.

Re: Wrestling- NVG (SPOILERS inside view at your own risk)
Cesaro's squashes have been fun so far too.
But yeah doesn't look like a great ep...with that said, SD sometimes looks better on TV than its results look on paper.

They're doing the Wrestler A dresses up as Wrestler B thing twice in the same show? Really?
