Just ordered Y2J's first book. I've had his second one sitting on the shelf for a year, but haven't read it because I wanted to read the other one first. I've just been too lazy to order it until now.

Also ordered Stone Cold's book. I'm not expecting much, but since I'm an Austin mark I decided that I'd add it to my collection of Austin things.

I read Stone Cold's book many years ago when it first came out. Pretty damn good imo. I haven't read Jericho's yet. Probably won't get around to it.

Jericho's first two books are awesome. His latest book often makes him look like a douchebag - too many cringeworthy drinking stories that are ok when you are 16, but not 40...

Just started the Sheik doc on Netflix. Only heard of it here and based on the posts, I thought it was about The Sheik, as in Sabu's uncle. Not the Iron Sheik .

Sheik doc is elite. Go ****ing watch it. I won't spoil any of it but at points it had me tearing up. I had no idea about anything Iron Sheik before this aside from him losing to Hogan. This is a very inspirational video. Recency bias notwithstanding, I'm calling this my favorite wrestling doc, ever.

I had no idea Sheik trained Rock. That's great stuff.
Jake Roberts telling it like it was with Hogan: "I think it would've helped wrestling (Sheik taking Verne's deal to break Hogans leg instead of lose title)...The whole thing about Hulkamania was you wrestled him one time and you were done. They fed him every great piece of talent the world ever knew."

It definitely would NOT have helped wrestling, although I know where Jake is coming from.

It would have helped wrestling. It would have hurt sports entertainment.

Still disagree, but I also get that statement, too.

I was just being facetious, I do agree with you. It's kind of funny that if that one and done thing is true that Bobby probably made out the best. He said that he was thrilled to work with Hogan each time because he was a business man and he made a TON more money with Hogan than anybody else.

Bobby knows more than anybody that the one and done thing was a great exaggeration, as Andre wrestled Hogan again on Saturday Night's Main Event in 1988, and to this day that show is the highest rated wrestling TV show ever with a 15.2 rating.

Of course it was a bit of an exaggeration (not even really exaggerating if you look at it as if he's saying it's one feud and you're done) but those people didn't win and you can't go higher than Hogan so in a sense they were done, at least for a little while.

The quote you posted said "wrestled him one time and you are done". As much as I like Jake's mic work he has long been bitter about never being at the top.

If I remember correctly, Backlund was the same way near the end of his run. I swear it was a new opponent every month at the Spectrum when he was champ.

Wow thanks for recommending The Sheik

To me he was just a comedy character from the late 80s and now

No idea he was so elite back in the day

Awesome doco

know it's been out a couple of years now but i just got round to reading the bob holly book. was interesting given the longevity of time he was with wwf/e to see how things developed in the business and to get his takes on the people that came and went, particularly the likes of the clique, benoit, eddie etc. supposed it helped that i was always a fan of his despite his perennial role as JTTS

Just finished Y2J's first book. It's great, but Foley's is still GOAT. Will read Jericho's second and skip the third as it is apparently terrible.

Anyone here have a wrestling DVD/VHS collection? I have a whole cabinet full of Attitude Era PPV VHS's sitting in my brother's basement that I have no idea what to do with. I know they're lol VHS and tbh I haven't watched them in years, but I can't bring myself to just throw them away. I don't even know if they work anymore as nobody has a VCR to test them. I stopped collecting the annual pay per view DVDs several years ago, last one I bought was Backlash 2006. I still buy the WWE documentary DVDs from time to time.

I own exactly 0 WCW PPVs in any format and I have to wonder what I was thinking.

VHS has no value. If you wanna get rid, try eBay all for minimal money.

Since this thread is bumped I'll mention that Bryan tweeted today that his book is now a New York Times Bestseller. Impressive with no promotion of the damn thing because Vince will be damned if he pushes Bryan in any way whatsoever.

Dylan I do PC repairs and random tech work for a living and people bring me old vhs tapes all the time. you can find vcrs (that wanted to autocorrect to vCard lol) at yard sales or flea markets for a song these days. There is software to convert vhs tapes to digutal format out there for $40-50, maybe less online, if it's worth it to you. Honestech is the brand of the one I use at work, but there are others out there.

I will def look into conversion, thanks. I believe a few WWF PPVs are on DVD (I remember looking on Amazon some time ago) and they were super expensive. Let's look again.

Hmmm... Not as expensive as I thought. A used DVD copy of Royal Rumble 01 is 32$, while Mania x7 is 40 used. Those two along with No Way Out 2001 are my three favourite shows of all time. Upon a quick glance at Google, did NWO 01 ever get a DVD? Can't find it.

I ordered Bryan's book as well as HBK's new one off Amazon a few days ago. I wanted free shipping so I ordered Y2J's third one as well. I've heard bad things about it (mostly on here tbh), but I felt like completing my collection of Y2J books.

WWE is coming out with an Undertaker biography in November. That should be interesting.
