Re: Wrestling DVDs/Documentaries/Books/Cassette Tapes Thread
I've read 4 based on rec's here, I'd rank the ones I've read:
Jericho's first book > Bret's book > Foley's first book > Jericho's second book.
Jericho's first was awesome, and I was lol'ing a ton, and he really did a bunch. Great perspective on how he achieved his dream of getting to the WWE. There was far less wrestling stuff in the second, with all the stuff about his band being pretty uninteresting. Alot of it felt like he was either bragging or doing the opposite in begging off how crappy alot of the experiences were playing for like 15 ppl but still being a badass!! Meh. Plus his references to being a Christian felt way more prevalent and seemed like he was pandering for sympathy. Bret's book was awesome in that it was a pretty solid history lesson and it had alot of cool background about what it was like being "the guy" since Jericho and Foley never were. Foley's was nice, but really corny. I did dig his underdog vibe more than Jericho's though, since Jericho was definitely a good technical wrestler and Foley was not.
All 4 were definitely good and worth a read though.
I am a huge reader and collector of wrestling bio's. Not a huge fan of the bios that are produced by WWE because I don't think they tell the real story. Some good ones I have read. Bret Hart, Bobby Heenan, Piper, Hogan was better than I expected, Eric Bischoff's book was a really good read. I am surprised there has never been any books relating to any scandals in the WWE. I would imagine, there has to be some type of sex, drug, road type stories.

Re: Wrestling DVDs/Documentaries/Books/Cassette Tapes Thread
Here's an awesome 4 hour (the last hour is kind them just plugging stuff so I'm not gonna post it) Russo and Ferrara shoot. Believe it or not Russo comes off very well in this shoot and changes some of the opinions I originally had of him,
Re: Wrestling DVDs/Documentaries/Books/Cassette Tapes Thread
Well, watching the new Edge documentary atm, good stuff so far, and regarding the whole thing between him, Lita, and Matt Hardy and how the majority of everyone (wrestlers and fans) were somewhat sheepishly bitter at Edge and Lita, and gave Matt Hardy some sort of heroic, quite possibility, sympathy to him, we get the whole weird hindsight kind of thing, seven years later.
I mean did anyone, in 2005, think that in 2012 that Edge would retire as somewhat of a heroic wrestler, Lita doing local radio/being in a punk rock band (I think) and making the one-time appearance, and that Matt Hardy just went insane with DUIs and rehabs and going crazy on youtube?
Re: Wrestling DVDs/Documentaries/Books/Cassette Tapes Thread
Pounding my way through Y2J's first book now (every time I poop), and it is fantastic so far. I'm maybe a quarter of the way through, but this book has increased my fibre intake by a lot because I just can't wait to get back to the ****ter.
Re: Wrestling DVDs/Documentaries/Books/Cassette Tapes Thread
Well, currently reading Foley's 2nd book, Foley is Good, its pretty good stuff so far, and he has made a point that is pretty interesting that has to do with professional wrestling causing deaths outside of the industry and people blaming and, sometimes, suing Vince for it.
Foley retaliated with listing on how all sorts of pop culture leads to some kind of death at some point (all kinds of sports, music, movies, plays.) I found that part really really entertaining and true about it, yet people just loves to pigeon-hole wrestling and the WWE.
Re: Wrestling DVDs/Documentaries/Books/Cassette Tapes Thread
Hope this is the right place to ask something like this, but I just found a couple of old boxes full of wrestling mags from the 80's-early 90's. Wondering if there's any kind of market at all for these or if there's a good place to look to find out if they're worth anything at all?
Re: Wrestling DVDs/Documentaries/Books/Cassette Tapes Thread
Looks like WWE is going to release a DVD on Undertaker's streak. I'm sure the first disk would probably be the worst disk ever, and that the last disk would be the best one ever. Anyway, here's a promo poster.
