Wrestling DVDs/Documentaries/Books/Cassette Tapes Thread
Well, often times, as a wrestling community, I am sure that we talk about the DVDs that are released that has a solid documentary of the topic revealed whether it would be an event or a wrestler that comes with a bundle of solid matches.
For example, Stone Cold's last DVD release had an awesome two hours documentary with some great segments, as well as some of the greatest and most famous matches that he is well known for.
So, hopefully, this is the thread that talks about our favorite wrestling dvds, and maybe talk upcoming ones. It could be from any company, but, for me, I'm just going to talk about the WWE ones. If any indy fan would enlighten us with some good dvds, I'm all ears.
So, for me, my favorite dvds are Heartbreak and Triumph (HBK), Hard Knocks (Chris Benoit), and Breaking the Code: Behind the Walls of Chris Jericho.
HBK's because the fact that it tells a solid portrayal of his start and his huge downfall, along with his rise as one of the most talented worker in the business.
Benoit's because the fact that it tells a good story about him clawing and fighting to realize his 18 year journey to become world champion. (Let's just think this before that one horrible event).
Jericho's just because he's friken Chris Jericho.
Cliff: Just talk about your favorite Wrestling DVDs and maybe why you like then, and, at times, just link articles of new ones with the match listings.

F*ck, how can I forget the books as well. Yeah, ok mods, if possible, can you add books to the title?
And while we're on books, I love Jericho's Lion's Tale and Undisputed as well as Eddie Guerrero's Cheating Death, Stealing Life.

Both of Jericho's books were awesome, just finished Undisputed. I found some of the Fozzy stuff to be quite boring tbh but everything wrestling related was A+

I have bought both of his books for my sister. I've been meaning to read them for a bit now.
She says they're pretty solid, and she's usually pretty picky when it comes to books like that, so it must be A+.

Re: Wrestling DVDs/Documentaries/Books/Cassette Tapes Thread
My favorite wrestling documentary is probably "Triumph and Tragedy of World Class Championship Wrestling". It's a most amazing tale of the rise and fall of a wrestling organization that utterly exploded in popularity, even breaking the attendance record for a U.S. live event, and then fell apart just as quickly. The cast of characters discussed is most entertaining. Neil Young's lyric "It's better to burn out, than to fade away" is put to the test by it.

Anybody seen the rise and fall of the WCW?
I was a staunch WWF fan back in the day and refused to watch the enemy but I was thinking of getting this and catching up on it all.
Either that or the best of nitro?

Rise and Fall of WCW is my favorite documentary. vvg. 2 and 3 would be Rise and Fall of ECW and Beyond the Mat.

The WCW rise and fall one is very good, and the Monday Night Wars one might be even better.

Bret Hart book was solid. I couldn't put it down, but you can certainly tell he has a high opinion of himself. Still, pretty great stuff. I was worried at first it was so long, but it's a great history of The Hart family, stampead wrestling, and the wwf of his day.

Personally I'd say that the top 3 autobiographies (in no particular order) are Bret's book, Jericho's first book and Foley's first book.

How is Foley's first book anyway? I'm kinda on the fence whether or not I want to read it, depending on the content that is revealed in it.

I would wager that LordCC would put Foley's first book in his top 3 all time.

Re: Wrestling DVDs/Documentaries/Books/Cassette Tapes Thread
Foley's first book is amazing, probably the GOAT. He wrote it himself which makes a big difference as you get a true impression of him as a person and he genuinely is a loveable loser. I haven't read it in a lot of years but off the top of my head I think it goes up until his match with Rock at RR 1999. I can't recommend it highly enough to do it justice, it set the benchmark for all wrestling autobiographies and only the other two I've mentioned are in the same league imo. Foley is an entertaining, imformative and funny author and he has a lot of stories to work with such as his childhood, skipping college and hitchhiking for 17 hours to watch Snuka at the Garden, jumping off the roof of his house and how that got him started in the business, working his way through the indies, Japan and being King of the Death matches, WCW, ECW and making it big in WWF.
