He showed up a lot. He just usually cut promos and what not. He wrestled sparingly, but he appeared a lot.

Are you counting backstage interviews in this "once a month" thing? They were always spending some of the show on advancing his next match.

Granted, in my view you did that on this ep by having someone cut a promo on him.

I think you'll find him showing up at basically all of the Superstars tapings in this link. Yeah the matches he was wrestling were dark matches for the benefit of the paying crowd, but if he was at all of the tapings you have to think he was doing stuff that went on TV.

Thats not true. A few weeks ago Cena was on tv but wrestled a dark match. Idk where to look to find out the tv results from back than. I mean from what was shown on tv

IWA OVERDRIVE: EPISODE ONE: EMANATING FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA

Tony Schiavone and Matt Striker welcome us to the inaugural episode of IWA Overdrive.
Schiavone: “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the very first episode of Overdrive. The IWA is here, and we’re here to stay. Surely this will be the greatest night in the history of our sport. We’ve got an incredible show for you tonight. We’re mere moments from the announcement of IWA’s championship series, in which IWA President Jack Tunney will inform us of the championship committee’s decision on who will compete to be the first champions of this company. But for the moment, let’s head to the ring.”

HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN V. BARRY HOROWITZ
Hacksaw rips the crowd up into a frenzy of “USA! USA!” chants. They’re really into him from the get-go. He disposes of Horowitz with great ease, pinning him easily after hitting him with a charging clothesline out of the three-point stance.
Winner: Hacksaw Jim Duggan

IWA UPDATE: HOSTED BY MEAN GENE OKERLUND
Mean Gene welcomes us to update, and says that the moment is upon us to find out who will compete in the IWA Championship Series. He sends it to Jack Tunney, who from his office gives the announcement on behalf of the IWA Championship Committee. “Without further adieu, here is the Championship Series schedule:
Next Week: The IWA Women’s Tag Team Titles will be up for grabs in a matchup between the Glamour Girls and the Jumping Bomb Angels.
In Two Weeks: The Dynamite Kid takes on Jinsei Shinzaki for the IWA Cruiserweight Title.
In Three Weeks: The IWA Tag Belts will be on the line, as The Texas Outlaws, Dusty Rhodes and Dick Murdoch, take on the exciting high-flyers, Paul London and Brian Kendrick.
In Four Weeks: We get a doubleheader. The IWA Women’s Title will be on the line when The Fabulous Moolah takes on Mae Young. And we will crown our first-ever Intercontinental Champion in what should be a great matchup between Jack Brisco and Sgt. Slaughter.
And In Six Weeks, at the Inaugural Pay-Per-View Spectacular Starrcade, the IWA World Title will be on the line in a match between ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair and Bruno Sammartino. We look forward to bringing you, the fans, this amazing Championship Series in the weeks to come. Thank you.”
Gene: “What a series of matches that is! Wow. I, for one, can’t wait for this thing to kick off next week. For Update, I’m Gene Okerlund.”

”CANADA’S GREATEST ATHLETE” GENE KINISKI V. LUIS RIVERA
Kiniski stomps to the ring with an incensed look on his face. Striker says that he just saw Kiniski backstage before the show and he seemed to be in a pretty good mood. He isn’t sure what has him so furious. He takes the fight to Rivera before the bell, beats him against the corner until the referee threatens disqualification, and then hits Rivera with a vicious backbreaker before pinning him. Kiniski grabs a microphone and says, “Not one look from the championship committee? Not one?? I should be in the world title match! Kid, you were in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Kiniski goes back to pounding away at his fallen opponent until Bob Backlund races out of the back to clear Canada’s Greatest Athlete out of the ring. Backlund picks up the microphone that Kiniski dropped and says, “Look, Kiniski: you’re not the only one who got snubbed by the championship committee. You’re just the only one using it as a license to throw the world’s biggest temper tantrum. I’m not happy with what we just found out either, but I’m going to suck it up and earn my shot at the title. I suggest you do likewise.” Kiniski is clearly angered by Backlund’s words and tries to get back in the ring, but a horde of officials hold him back.
Winner: Gene Kiniski

SIX-MAN TAG: DYNAMITE KID, BRIAN PILLMAN, AND DEAN MALENKO V. JINSEI SHINZAKI, LA PARKA, AND PSICOSIS
Schiavone comments on what a treat this match will be, as it should be a great preview of the action we’re going to see from the IWA cruiserweight division. And obviously two of the best are in this match, as we should get some preview of the upcoming cruiserweight title fight between Dynamite Kid and Jinsei Shinzaki. Striker mentions that Shinzaki has gone by the ring name “Hakushi” in the past, but has chosen from here on out to wrestle under his actual name. The match is fast-paced and highly entertaining. Shinzaki ends up getting the pin on Brian Pillman after hitting him with a crucifix powerbomb.
Winner: Jinsei Shinzaki, La Parka, and Psicosis

PRE-MATCH INTERVIEW: VELVET SKY AND LACEY VON ERICH
Velvet Sky and Lacey Von Erich give an interview with Mean Gene, in which they say that they’re going to cleanse the IWA, one ugly person at the time. “Since Beth Phoenix is one of the ugliest, it looks like we’re getting right down to business.” Lacey and Velvet react excitedly and head toward the ring.

VELVET SKY V. BETH PHOENIX
Velvet holds her own with Phoenix, but after a mid-match maneuver in which she wipes Beth’s face on the map, Beth loses her temper and attacks Velvet viciously and repeatedly, ending the match emphatically with a Glam Slam for the 1-2-3.

JAKE “THE SNAKE” ROBERTS V. LANNY POFFO
Tony Schiavone says, “Man, this guy Jake Roberts is just a sicko. It makes my skin crawl to watch him.” Jake makes quick work of Poffo, finishing the match with a DDT and a pin. After the match, he brings out his bag from the corner of the ring opens it to reveal an enormous snake inside. He wraps the snake around Lanny Poffo’s neck and around his lower body as well. Poffo, mostly out from the DDT, struggles to get up and actually coughs up some vomit in the process. Schiavone: “Oh my goodness. Like I said, fans…absolutely repulsive.”
Winner: Jake “The Snake” Roberts

MEAN GENE INTERVIEWS RIC FLAIR
Flair: “Mean Gene! Woooo! I have to admit, I didn’t know what that championship committee was going to do, but they decided very, very well. Not only did they put the Nature Boy in the title match in the main event of Starrcade, but they put him in there with a big dumb oaf like Bruno Sammartino. Let me tell you something, big man: it takes a bit more than brute strength and the support of thousands of moron in attendance to pin MY shoulders to the mat. You’re in for a challenge that you can’t handle. But look on the bright side, kid…you got the golden ticket today. You get to go down in history as one half of the main event at Starrcade. And you get the best seat in the house to witness history, as you lay in the middle of the ring and watch me put that gold around my waist. Not a bad night’s work. Now Gene, if you’ll excuse me, I have a victory party to arrange.” <Flair exits stage left> Gene: “Nature Boy Ric Flair. Never at a loss for words, never at a shortage of confidence. Back to you, Tony.”

JACK BRISCO V. “PRETTY BOY” PAT PATTERSON
Brisco high-fives fans on the way to the ring. Striker comments that Brisco is obviously in better spirits after the championship committee’s decision than Gene Kiniski was earlier. While Patterson gets a fair bit of offense in, it’s clear that Brisco is the better man on this night, and he scores the pin after executing a surprising belly-to-back suplex as Patterson ran at him off the ropes. Schiavone: “I think the championship committee’s confidence in Brisco was well-placed. He very well might become our first Intercontinental Champion.”
Winner: Jack Brisco

Back to the announce table, Schiavone and Striker advertise next week’s show, which will emanate from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and will feature the first match of the IWA Championship Series, the women’s tag title match between The Glamour Girls and The Jumping Bomb Angels. We will also see The Living Legend, Bruno Sammartino, in action against Truth Martini. And the IWA debut of Piper’s Pit. All of that and more, on the next episode of Overdrive. See you then.

Re: Wrestling Draft Rebooted: Official Write-ups thread

Early days of my company and transition to the 'present' (aka were I start doing write ups):

Legends like Eddie Graham, Billy Robinson, and Fritz Von Erich dominate and bring great success to the company. The heights reached by the company are even greater when a great looking, great wrestling, quick talking blonde heel, namely Buddy Rogers, comes along. Rogers has apparently ended the career of long time, super popular wrestler Gorilla Monsoon with a figure four that he refuses to release after Gorilla had already passed out from instead of submitting. Rogers taunts the fans by saying "Maybe if his leg improves a bit, he can go back to driving garbage trucks where he belongs!" Gorilla actually eventually joins a youngster by the name of Bobby Heenan (and sometimes Lance Russell) in the broadcast booth.

Rogers outwrestles, or outswindles, the other top babyfaces with the help of Fritz Von Erich. Fritz wins a battle royal that grants him a title shot vs Buddy. After a victory that Fritz helps Buddy attain, Buddy out of nowhere nails Fritz from behind in the leg, then puts him in the figure four until television time runs out, and Fritz is put out of action for several months. Rogers cuts a promo saying that anybody who doesn't fall in line will simply fall, and that a friend is always easier to screw then an enemy.

Suddenly, Fritz Von Erich returns and turns face by saving a hapless opponent from the figure four by nailing Rogers with a cane (earning an upstart young kid a victory over Rogers in a non-title match), and then feuds with Rogers. Rogers insults Fritz for being slow instead of quick and clever, for being a southerner, and for looking plain instead of attractive, and claims that he will relegate Von Erich to the dustbin of history.

In the long awaited match, Rogers has the advantage until he takes a risk and misses. Von Erich locks in the claw, and Rogers is almost out and goes to the eyes in desperation. He locks in the figure four after a suplex, and the camera cuts to a big teenager he somewhat resembles Fritz in the front row ("A concerned look on the face of that youngster in the front row" Gorilla). However Von Erich struggles out and nails Rogers with a right. Rogers appears to be out, and Von Erich starts to struggle to his feet...

But Rogers was playing possum, and clips Fritz's legs out from under him. He goes to the figure four, and with Fritz screaming in pain, the ref, not wanting to be responsible for another career ending injury, calls the match. However, Buddy will not release the hold. The ref tries to remove him, but Rogers tosses the ref aside without even breaking it. The kid from the audience goes to the ring, and is clearly much taller then either wrestler-he swiftly places his massive hand on Buddy's forehead, utilizing Fritz's own claw to save him, holding Rogers down as he yells "Nobody messes with my family!"

IWA OVERDRIVE: EPISODE TWO (EMANATING FROM PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA)

Schiavone and Striker welcome us to this week’s show. Schiavone hypes the beginning of the IWA Championship Series, and says we’ve got a packed show so we’d better get right into it.

IWA WOMEN’S TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: THE GLAMOUR GIRLS (JUDY MARTIN AND LEILANI KAI) W/ THE GRAND WIZARD V. THE JUMPING BOMB ANGELS (立野と山崎)
The Grand Wizard cuts a promo on behalf of the Glamour Girls, insulting the idiots of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and taunting them about the fact that they could never get a woman as attractive as Judy Martin or Leilani Kai. Striker sells what an exciting and entertaining duo the Jumping Bomb Angels are as they make their way to the ring after the Wizard’s promo. The Glamour Girls are able to get an early advantage with some underhanded tactics, and their heat grows when 立野 attempts to make the hot tag and the referee is too busy being distracted by the Wizard to see it. Eventually the hot tag is made, and 山崎 clears Judy Martin out of the ring with a clothesline over the top. This leaves the Angels to double-team Leilani Kai. They whip Kai off the ropes in tandem, and then 立野と山崎 head to the top rope to set up for their finisher, a double dropkick off the top that they both connect on just as Kai gets to her feet. 立野 keeps Martin at bay while 山崎 makes the successful cover for the pinfall. The crowd didn’t have much of a stake in this match when it began, but the Glamour Girls’ cheating and the Angels’ move set got over nicely and the ovation for the pinfall was tremendous. Schiavone sends it to Howard Finkel for the official decision. “The winner of this bout. And...NEW IWA Women’s Tag Team Champions, The Jumping Bomb Angels!” The announcers compliment the tremendous bout and give high praise to the Angels for finding a way to pull out the victory.
Winners and NEW Champions: The Jumping Bomb Angels

STARRCADE EVENT CENTER UPDATE: HOSTED BY GENE OKERLUND
“Gene Okerlund here, with your Starrcade Event Center Update. As we learned last week, the main event of the first annual Starrcade is a match to decide the IWA World Title, as Ric Flair will take on Bruno Sammartino (graphic on screen). Signed in the last week, after their confrontation on this show, Bob Backlund will take on Gene Kiniski in what should be amazing scientific wrestling match. We’d like to show you this footage from last week. (Roll footage of Backlund saving the young talent from Gene Kiniski’s post-match attack, and his ensuing promo.)

You think that riled Gene Kiniski? You think he has a few thoughts about what went down last week? You bet he does. Let’s hear from him now.

Kiniski: Bob Backlund, I hardly know where to begin. I don’t know what’s a bigger joke: the fact that you felt entitled to stick your nose into MY business, or the fact that you actually somehow believe that your exclusion from the championship match at Starrcade was a snub. Spoiler alert: this isn’t amateur wrestling anymore. You were pretty good at that. Here, I don’t have to cut a bunch of weight in order to get in the ring with you and tear you limb from limb. Sweet dreams, son. I’m going to be your worst nightmare at Starrcade.”

Okerlund: “Strong words from Kiniski. I have to admit, I wouldn’t want to be the one facing him. We have more matches to be announced for Starrcade in the weeks to come. Stay tuned for a lot more action. For Update, I’m Gene Okerlund.”

MR. KENNEDY V. SWEET BROWN SUGAR
Kennedy does his “MISTEEEEEEEEEEEEEER” bit before the match. The match itself is a basic squash, with Kennedy finishing things off with a Green Bay Plunge.
Winner: Mr. Kennedy

PIPER’S PIT: FEATURING SPECIAL GUEST MIL MASCARAS
Piper riles the crowd a bit, talking about what a bunch of mouthbreathers it takes to line up to cheer for a rapist at quarterback. He then introduces his guest, Mil Mascaras. Mascaras comes to the ring shaking his head at what an ******* Piper obviously is and glaring at him as he enters the ring. Piper: “What’s with the attitude, captain? You mad that I tightened my hubcaps and made them really hard to pry off? I knew you were going to be at the arena today.” As Mascaras starts to indignantly say, “Excuse me?” Piper rips the microphone back away and says, “No. Nobody wants to hear you make a poor attempt to speak English.” As Mascaras attempts to interject again, Piper hits him with the microphone and then begins stomping him on the ground. Piper: “What did I just say?? I know you’re supposed to be hot **** down there in Me-hee-co, but up here you’re nothing. You’re going to learn that very quickly.” Piper takes one of the chairs he had set up for the interview segment and bludgeons Mascaras with it, then leaves the ring to a round of very loud boos. Schiavone: “I don’t even know what to say, fans. We apologize for Roddy Piper’s commentary. That was completely unacceptable.”

KURT ANGLE V. RAYMUNDO MENDOZA
A PIP promo of Angle is shown during the match, telling the fans that they’d better follow the three I’s: intensity, integrity, and intelligence. Schiavone verbally rolls his eyes at the promo. Angle finishes the match with an Angle Slam.
Winner: Kurt Angle

THE TEXAS OUTLAWS VS. MATT SHOULDERS AND TAPPER THOMAS
The Outlaws cut a PIP promo during this match on London and Kendrick, talking about how they’ll have no problem taking those wet-behind-the-ears punks behind the woodshed and having their way with them. The match is uncompetitive and Murdoch finishes it off with a brainbuster followed by a pinfall.
Winner: The Texas Outlaws

SGT. SLAUGHTER VS. LANNY POFFO
Schiavone and Striker spend this match putting over Slaughter as a huge threat to Brisco, noting that we saw how impressive Brisco was last week, but that if he gets caught in Slaughter’s cobra clutch, his Intercontinental Title dreams would end then and there. Right on cue, Slaughter gets Poffo in the clutch and wins by a quick submission.
Winner: Sgt. Slaughter

SUPER DELFIN OVER BARRY HOROWITZ
Delfin really brings the crowd to life in this match, showing off a unique move set like much of them hadn’t seen before. He closes things out with his patented Delfin Special.
Winner: Super Delfin

BRUNO SAMMARTINO VS. TRUTH MARTINI
Bruno comes out a raucous ovation in his hometown of Pittsburgh. He grabs a mic before the match and says, “Is that all you’ve got, Ric Flair? That I’m a big dumb musclehead? I’ve gone my whole career with everyone thinking that before they face me, and then wondering what the hell hit them after they wake up seeing the arena lights. When I cinch you into the bearhug, you’ll realize just what a mistake it was to run your mouth.” The match commences, and Sammartino makes pretty quick work of Martini, closing him out with the very bearhug that he threatened Ric Flair with.
Winner: Bruno Sammartino

As Schiavone and Striker sign off the show, they advertise next week’s episode, which will feature the cruiserweight title match between Dynamite Kid and Jinsei Shinzaki, the announcement of more matches for Starrcade…and our main event will be Bob Backlund taking on Rowdy Roddy Piper. Don’t miss next week’s episode, fans.

Re: Wrestling Draft Rebooted: Official Write-ups thread

Also have The Beautiful People (heels) and The Canadian Ninjas (face) as established teams. Tomoka Nakagawa and Del Rey have held tag team gold, so they'll start out as a heel team also. I have 25 women on my roster overall so there's no shortage of an ability to make teams. Also have Beth Phoenix and Nattie Neidhart as two that have worked as an established team, though I'm pushing them both as babyfaces to start so no immediate intention of teaming them.

TNA does it (women's singles and tag titles) with far fewer bodies.
