Re: Wrestlemania Draft Thread

Yeah, the match length is the only real drawback. It's back when WWF used to jam 14 matches into WrestleMania. But even as a little mark who couldn't be bothered to care about the quality of technical wrestling, that match wowed me on workrate back in the day.

Re: Wrestlemania Draft Thread

With our next pick I am going to select what can only be called simply the greatest match in wrestling history. If star power is what you want, this is for you. If surprising returns is what you want, this is for you. If you're a fan of classic mat wrestling with fast pace back and forth action then this is the match for you.

Spoiler:

Austin/Rock at WM X7 is considered one of the greatest matches of all time. But it wasn't even the best match on the card.

And who can ever forget the winner of this match:

Spoiler:

Card:
The GOAT Yokozuna vs. Brooke Hogan's Dad- World Wildlife Foundation Championship
Mean Mark Callaway vs. Giant Gonzales- The Streak's Ultimate Test
Bret the ****man Fart vs Vinny Mac- The match 56 years in the making
Jerry the King Lawler vs Sir Michael Cole (with Jack Swagger) Special Guest Referee: The RingMaster
Bill Goldberg vs Bork Laser Special Guest Referee: That guy from the Hollywood Blondes
Gimmick Battle Royal

I was seriously considering that match as a break between big matches. Damn it all to hell.

Re: Wrestlemania Draft Thread

What is Wrestlemania without spectacle? Without star power? Without the glitz and glam. Hell, what the **** is it without Hogan?

For my next match, the match that started the granddaddy of them all. Was it a real technical match? No.
But it embodies WM and is a welcome addition to my card

Hogan and Mr. T v Piper and Paul Orndroff

My WM Card thusfar:

WWF Title
Stone Cold Steve Austin v The Rock - Wrestlemania XV

Tag Team Match
Hulk Hogan and Mr. T v Rowdy Roddy Piper & Paul Orndroff

WH Championship
The Undertaker v Batista - Wrestlemania 23

2 Falls Triple Threat - Intercontinental and European Title
Benoit v Angle v Jericho - Triple Threat 2 fall 2 title match - Wrestlemania XVI (2000)

WWF Tag Team Titles - Tables, Ladders & Chairs (oh my!)
Dudley Boyz v Edge & Christian v Hardy Boyz - Wrestlemania X7

Singles Match
CM Punk vs Randh Ortuh

Re: Wrestlemania Draft Thread

Spoiler:

Possibly the worst story ever with a love triangle between Edge, Big Slow and Vickie and then Cena gets thrown in cos he threatened to reveal Vickie cheated on Edge with Slow if he didnt get a title match and then did anyway cos he is a huge dick isnt something ive gone out to draft. But this one is for the kids who get to cheer on jeaaaaannnnnn ceeeeeeeeeennnnnnaaaaaaaarrrrrrr and when three of the most decorated champions in wrestling come together in one triple threat the match itself is no worse than really really solid.

Rounding out my dual main event is Edge (c) vs Cena vs Big Show for the World Heavyweight Championship, joining the completely star packed card of:

Angle (c) vs Brock for the WWE Championship
MITB featuring CM Punk and Jericho
Rock vs Stone Cold
HBK vs Vince McMahon
Undertaker vs Kane

So far I have almost covered every major star since the start of the attitude era.

Ugh, can't stand that match. It wasn't so much that Booker should have gone over as it was HHH burying him at every turn, during both the build and the match.

Not a big fan of the match either, but I do really like teejay's card in general.

Re: Wrestlemania Draft Thread

Buryers gonna bury.

If the match is as meh as TN and lkj says would have drafted something else rather than the WHC match. I watched an undrafted that would have been a very similar like for like swap only it used a midcard belt instead of the big gold belt as you dont need the draw of the BGB on top imo.

Re: Wrestlemania Draft Thread

According to Sting, the insta-burial of Booker T was a big reason he never wanted to come to WWE.

Re: Wrestlemania Draft Thread

I heard in an interview that it wasn't HHH's fault that Booker didn't go over in that match. They had been planning for Booker to go over but they literally signed Goldberg 10 days before Mania. And Vince's thought process was that it's important that they have a strong heel for Goldberg to take on once he got to the WWE.

Re: Wrestlemania Draft Thread

Ok, then back to me now? Well, since I was a fan of Jeff Hardy from late 2006 to the day he got arrested, I decided to choose what's left of his matches so I choose the match against his brother (who too was all right, before he went crazy).

Jeff Hardy vs Matt Hardy at WM 25.

Funny thing, WM 25 had like around five good to great matches and had the last match of the night succeeded expectations, the WM would have been one of the great ones.

Re: Wrestlemania Draft Thread

Hardy vs Hardy still annoys me. It wasnt especially offensively bad, but i went in expecting balls out craziness with spots galore and at least one mega spot that id never forget. The closest that came was i recall there being a leg drop from a ladder.

Matt turning on Jeff was a flawed story from day zero. Shudda gone with Christian attacking Jeff ffs, no one cared that we "worked it out", you dont need to ****ing shock us every time, when we like it you should still do it!
