Yeah, I was definitely considering completing the Boss Man trifecta if that one had continued falling. I do remember him positively in spite of all of this, but it's all based on his blue uniform days.

That Tim White angle (which I never knew happened) is unspeakably awful. Wow.

Lost in Cleveland was one I knew of and figured would be a great value pick.

SRM sniped our backup. First pick is still available somehow, I almost took this in round 1:

Spoiler:
Hogan/Warrior II: How Hulk Got His Win Back

With Hollywood Hogan still at loose ends following his title loss to Goldberg, WCW brought in the Ultimate Warrior to try and recreate the magic they had at WrestleMania VI.

Needless to say, they failed.

WCW decided that the WWF version of the Warrior character just wasn't quite out there enough on its own, and decided they needed to make him some kind of magical superhero. He was able to teleport in a cloud of smoke, control people's minds (as he did in brainwashing Ed Leslie to leave the nWo), and...well, this:

As silly an idea as it was, it was made a million times worse that the only guy who couldn't see the Warrior in the mirror was Eric Bischoff. Hogan could see him, the fans could see him, the ANNOUNCERS could see him, for ****'s sake.

All this might not have been so bad if they'd been able to put on another **** classic at Halloween Havoc, but megalols at that idea. They went through a pale imitation of the WMVI match, before they just took turns whipping each other with Hogan's weight belt. Then, the big moment they'd been building toward, as Hogan pulled out a bag from his tights and proceeded to throw the most hilariously bad fireball at the Warrior, burning his own eyebrows and mustache off:

And Warrior SOLD IT!!

Finally, mercifully, one of the worst matches of all time ended with HORACE HOGAN of all people coming down to nail Warrior with a chair, to give us all the happy ending Hulk Hogan had been waiting for for eight and a half years.

Oh, and the teleportation thing? They used a trap door in the ring for it, but didn't warn everyone about it, and Davey Boy Smith seriously injured himself on it, leading to a painkiller addiction that would eventually claim his life. So, yeah, thanks very much for this angle, you ****ing morons.

In August 1990, The Black Scorpion[1] debuted in WCW (which was still under the NWA banner at the time) in vignettes taunting NWA World Heavyweight Champion Sting. He wore a hooded robe to conceal his face and warned Sting he was after him.[2] The wrestler playing this part was Ole Anderson with his voice distorted enough to keep the fans pondering his identity.[2] The announcers and parties involved attempted to imply that The Scorpion was a former friend of Sting, with the main suspects being former tag partner Jim Hellwig (a.k.a. The Ultimate Warrior, who was the WWF Champion at the time), or former training and Powerteam USA partner Dave Sheldon aka The Angel of Death.[3]

The Black Scorpion debuted in the ring against Sting for his title at Clash of the Champions XII on September 5, 1990.[4] The wrestler playing him this time was Al Perez, who, according to Ric Flair, was supposed to remain The Black Scorpion until his unmasking—that is, before he quit.[5] Sting was about to unmask him when another Black Scorpion appeared on the entrance ramp, allowing the one that wrestled to escape.[2] The Scorpion would also incorporate amateur "magic" into his taunting of Sting by performing parlor tricks with members of the audience, presumably plants. According to one wrestling website, magician Franz Harary performed the illusions.[3]

Sting wrestled Black Scorpion at house shows but could never unmask him because of continuous attacks by Sid Vicious.[2] The performers Sting faced at these house shows were either Jeff Ellis or The Angel of Death. The Black Scorpion gimmick was cut short by an accident in training when Ole's arm was broken. His comeback plans had to be scrapped, and the injury forced a rewrite to the entire storyline. Ole never returned to active wrestling again and would eventually become a referee.

Eventually, a rematch was signed between Sting and the Black Scorpion for Starrcade. It was to be a cage match with professional wrestling legend Dick the Bruiser as the special guest referee. The rule was if the Black Scorpion did not win the title, he would be forced to reveal his identity. Sting defeated the Black Scorpion with a flying shoulder tackle off the top rope. The Scorpion was unmasked to reveal Ric Flair.[6] According to Flair, it would have been either himself or Barry Windham. Flair volunteered thinking the gimmick wouldn't hurt him, whereas it could Windham, who recently portrayed an imposter Sting at Halloween Havoc on October 27. The Black Scorpion angle ended with Flair's unmasking. Flair, as himself, ended up winning the title from Sting at a WCW house show less than a month later

Sorry for bailing on this guys. Don't wanna derail the thread because it's so awesome which is why I PMed LKJ but something unexpected happened and I wasn't up to keeping up with this. I've fallen far enough behind now that I'm gonna officially withdraw from the draft, sorry again. I do intend on writing up my Trump buys RAW pick at some point though cos it deserves it, probably tomorrow.

That is the value pick of this draft by an enormous margin. If that had been drafted #1 overall, I would have been okay with it.

Yep. Even without regard to value by round, I've got Halpert's 3-4-5 picks as better than his 1-2 picks. Probably leading the draft now after a middling start.

You only owe three picks FWIW, you're still welcome to catch up now if you like. If not then I understand.

If nothing else there will be a free-for-all open to participants and railbirds alike once the formal draft winds down.

There's an interview Nash does on the last Nitro before the PPV that is so amazing. He talks about how he's "Going to go over." I tired searching YouTube for it, but it doesn't seem to be on there anymore. It's so amazing that I suggest everyone who has the WWE Network check it out.

Spoiler:
Hulk Hogan, who had crossed over to the dark side (meaning that he had switched color schemes from red & yellow to all black, but otherwise was the same), was embroiled in a feud with The Giant. At Halloween Havoc '95, they agreed to meet in two separate battles: first, they would engage in a monster truck match on the roof of Cobo Hall, located near the arena for Havoc…then, later, they would have a wrestling match.

As planned, they got into their respective monster trucks and collided a few times. They were operating under sumo rules it appears, with each truck trying to push the other out of a circle. Hogan's truck prevailed in pushing the Giant's out of the circle. The Giant was not going to take this defeat lying down, however. He bailed out of his truck, Hogan had gotten out of his as well, and The Giant stalked toward Hogan, catching up to him in a position perilously close to the edge of the roof. They choked each other. Giant forced Hogan to step back up onto the ledge, and then Giant followed him up. As they fought and jostled for position, Eric Bischoff and Bobby Heenan showed increasing fear about what a dangerous thing we were watching...

Spoiler:

...and then their fears came to fruition, as Hogan shoved Giant loose of him and caused Giant to lose his balance and fall backward off the edge of the building. Bischoff helplessly screamed, "NO! NO! NO!" A guest monster truck expert chimed in with hilarious monotony in matter-of-factly saying, "That wasn't supposed to happen."

Bischoff is listening in trying to get word from the back. Heenan asks, "Which side did he fall off? The water side, the street side, or what?" Bischoff dismissively replies, "Well, you've got a parking lot and you've got a river, what difference does it make?" Heenan facepalms hard on the desk.

After a couple of minutes of acting panicked about the death we just witnessed, they shrug and throw it back to the ring for more action, a match between Lex Luger and Randy Savage.

Bischoff does leave the announce table to give way to Tony Schiavone, who is just not going to sell this stupid angle at all. I mean, he says the words "we're stunned," but he isn't nearly trying to put over the mood of having just watched a dude fall to his demise. He says he's hoping to hear word, and says, "Are we gonna have a match or not?" Heenan tries to be the pro here and acts like he's having a hard time calling the next match, but Tony basically keeps telling him to calm down and snap out of it.

Once that match is in the books, it's time for our scheduled main event of Hulk Hogan vs. The Giant. Hogan comes to the ring, grabs a mic, and begins to apologize for what happened earlier. He is interrupted by the Dungeon of Doom music, and a grand total of SIXTEEN AND A HALF MINUTES after he fell off the roof of the ****ing building…

…the Giant emerges through the curtain totally unscathed and now in his wrestling gear, ready to go.

Tony Schiavone, with only mild surprise in his voice, says, "He's risen from the dead."
Bobby Heenan adds, "I do not understand anything. … No one could survive a fall off a five-story rooftop. Something has happened here."

And with that, The Giant marches into the ring and commences his main event match on schedule. There is never an explanation as to what he fell on, how he could possibly be okay, nothing. Nor is there seemingly any sort of story advancement to be found in him falling off of the roof…even if you suspend disbelief, you can't find a reason for them doing the roof fall. The whole thing will forever remain an absurdity that I cannot process.

My selection is Giant Suffers Surely Fatal Fall, Wrestles Less than 20 Minutes Later

I went back and forth on whether or not it was fair game to rope that part in. Kinda felt like I might be sort of angling to add that since the main crux of the pick was about Giant miraculously wrestling, even though I took everything up to the opening bell of that match that involved Yeti in the post-match. Ultimately decided not to do it just because I felt sketchy about it.
