Deliberately abstaining from the last one. If we were going just on the last 10-15 years it's obviously not Lawler, but I'm not sure how to weigh his old-timey stuff (which was very good) vs. the crappy pederast.

I figured that Heyman would go over Hogan, but that doesn't make any sense to me because Hogan's interview skills made him the most popular wrestler ever (we all know he didn't get there from great in ring prowess). Heyman had some shoot interviews and was a solid color commentator. It doesn't really matter though because there are only two guys tops that can actually win this (and probably only one).

I think the gimmick, look, and entrance music/posing stuff did more for Hogan than the interviews. Hogan was great on the mic, but I don't rank it at the top of the list for what made him so huge.
