I don't mind Disko's pick here (depending on the card he's going for). I mean, it is a classic, and if you're going in to it around that time frame then he should definitely get that shine. Nice pick.

Just railing, but it would be an interesting dynamic to say when your PPV is set. Say it's set the date that your most recent match takes place. If that's the case, then things don't look as good, but if it is set much earlier then that match could be key.

This is an interesting idea. I don't want to add a rule now that picking has started, but it seems like a decent standard that your card takes place at or around the date of the latest match on your card. If we went by that standard, then disko could raise the value of his pick by keeping his late point to within a couple of years after it. HBK/Razor definitely was considered to be a strong contender for GOAT about 15 years ago.

WWF Title - Hulk Hogan (c) vs Andre The Giant (Wrestlemania 3) Time - 12:01

Oh yeah, I did it again. This is the biggest match in wrestling history and I will pick it first in 100 drafts in a row if I have to, this match is never getting past me. There are endless options for the rest of my matches but there is no replacement for this match imo; it automatically makes my card the biggest drawing one. It also has the added advantage in this draft of being very short for a main event, leaving me a lot of time for the rest of my card.

This is a good pick (again) as long as you build a card that fits well with it. Obviously GOAT for drawing power, and the short length is very nice.

I was kinda hoping it would get taken in the first two picks so I could take the #2 match on my board (which I'm pretty sure is what moorobot will pick), but I just can't let Hogan/Andre slip past me, way too much value.

Hogan/Andre is obviously fine here. It has the huge drawing power and it's very short so you have a lot of time left to add great technical matches to your card.

I have two matches on my draft board that take up a little over 1 hour, lol.

I figure i should get 5 matches on my card if i choose well i know the sort of matches i want the other 3 to be but not had time to look into choices yet.

Steamboat vs. Flair Wrestlewar 1989.

A better way for a wrestling fan to spend 31:37 (bell to bell) does not exist. Most of you know about this match as it is about to make the finals of the greatest match tournament. It's the last chapter of the Steamboat/Flair feud that is perhaps wrestling's greatest book length tale, and simultaneously kicks off the Flair/Funk feud brilliantly.

It's everything wrestling should be: brilliant storytelling in all aspects, with legendary execution and athleticism.

Terry Funk vs. Ric Flair I quit match
NWA World Heavyweight Championship 18:33
This match was truly an epic, with two of the greatest of all time. And to have Terry Funk in the main event should go well with the rest of my card. This was a physical match with some great mic work from Terry Funk. It was rated 5 stars and for a reason.

I think it was too early for Flair/Funk, but I ****ing love the match regardless. I thought Pharoah was forgoing mainstream matches, but maybe that was just a stance against WWE matches.

Flair/Funk is a great pick imo. There's very few matches that are that good that are under 20 minutes.

No doubt an awesome match; I had the feeling it was gonna be one that someone was going to sit on for later round value because it (unfortunately) flies under the radar in comparison to so many of Flair's (and to a lesser extent Funk's) great matches.

The Undertaker vs Shawn Michaels

Ecstatic to get one of the two matches I really wanted. I agonised between the two 'Taker vs HBK WM matches for my first choice, and in the end I went with the second. The first is probably the better wrestling match, but the second encapsulates everything about why I love pro wrestling. It's the culmination not just of an angle lasting several months and stretching back more than a decade between the two men involved, but of a story spanning the entire career of Shawn Michaels. The whole point of Shawn Michaels' career - warts and all - was that deep down, he was a guy who grew up dreaming of becoming a pro wrestler, and would do whatever it took to make that dream a reality. The beauty of the second HBK vs 'Taker match is that it stays true to that story - down to the last moment of HBK's in-ring career, where he slaps the Deadman in the face and gets undoubtedly the most brutal Tombstone of all time for his troubles, he's a guy doing everything he can to keep his career, and his dream, alive. This match, while it was always going to struggle to live up to the sheer quality of its predecessor, is one of the greatest spectacles in the history of pro wrestling, and a fitting tribute to the career of a legend like HBK. Plus, it gave us that Placebo promo video, which as promos go is ****ing Oscar-worthy.

Solid pick. I personally like undrafted better but I think the fact that this is HBK's last match ever and that awesome promo might make this a better pick than the other match for this type of draft.
