That was the clear number one pick imo. There are lots of title matches to choose from so they aren't as valuable as they were in the other draft. Austin/Bret is the GOAT so it's clearly number 1.

I dont agree. I think number one in this would be something where its a non title match. Obviously this has that but also something that is the only great match by someone. Bret has lots of good matches to choose from

I don't really see this draft as having a clear number one myself, a big reason I'm happy to be later in the order...but with that said, certainly Bret/Austin was a fine pick.

Number 1 draft is number 1. Its pretty hard to draft anything else before it (though tbh i would have gone for a controversial first pick) and regardless if it didnt go in the first three picks id probably be offended, let alone shocked. Maybe not truly GOAT match but consistently popular within this forum at least.

After doing partaking in the Greatest Match tournament and the Wrestlemania draft I'm not interested in picking anymore WWE matches so my card won't have any, I'm going to pick matches I enjoyed watching at the time and it will give me an excuse to watch them all over again. Hopefully anyone who hasn't seen some of my choices will get to enjoy the matches for the first time

Probably could've gone with a couple of other options here but given the rules of this draft I think this is the best pick.

There's not much I can say about this match that hasn't been said already. Two top-tier guys, at their peak, on the biggest stage. Widely regarded as oen of the best matches of all-time.

Yeah, no offense but i really really wouldnt have gone there even if i were a fan of that match. Ive said in the tournament thread a couple times that i dont think the match stands up to modern comparisons, but thats just my opinion.

I was definitely expecting to hear another theme song when I clicked that second link. Gotta say I actually liked the format of throwing up two entrance themes to introduce the match though.

I think it was a reach too. Disko is at a bit of a handicap in that he didn't watch for like a decade IIRC (a decade in which a bunch of matches took place to make that one look a bit on the ordinary side when at the time it was truly amazing), but honestly I think HBK/Razor is only a firm second best on its own real-life card. I only had it sitting fifth on my draft board for IC title matches.

can't get into it too much without mentioning undrafteds but the other options involve belts/wrestlers that i don't want to shut the door on this early. i can certainly understand wanting to go with 2 or 3 other matches here but this is a clear top 5, imo.

regardless of what happened inside the ring, this match just felt bigger than many of its modern comparisons. i'm an older dude (26), so perhaps i'm biased, but the early-mid90s and attitude era just had an added aura that i can't describe. maybe it's just because i was a kid and much more into wrestling back then but when i watch youtube vids of the "great" modern matches i'm pretty underwhelmed (with a few exceptions, of course). a few possible explanations: significantly shorter title reigns + more titles = waters down title value; more TV shows/PPVs water down the build up to the big 4, etc.

yeah, that format works if people actually close their eyes and click the links. thought it would be cool to set it up that way.

i actually agree with your last point (razor/michaels being second-fiddle on its own card) but let's face it -- having the guys in that other match available to me with my next pick is a lot different than having razor ramon available with my next pick). (edit: although you can make the argument that foreclosing myself from IC title matches is even worse)

Well Dylan has successfully gotten me intrigued, that's for sure...though by now he has deprecated his match so much that the facemelter will lack for surprise factor.

Well, that's hard to say. Initial impulse is to say yes, but then again your card will be facing off against other cards with ladder matches on them, arguably better ones. In that light, I don't know that the shine doesn't come off.

You do get initial drawing power and aura at first blush though.
