Re: seriously, why do grown men watch pro wrestling?
As much as people like to blame PG, I do submit that the Golden Era of Hogan/Savage/etc. was PG as well. It shouldn't be SUCH a bar to making a compelling wrestling show. They've shown a willingness to add cussing back into the mix, to allow blood sparingly, etc. They're really only applying the same level of restriction that they did in the 80's.
It's other things bringing down the product...not the PG restriction.

Yeah. but the thing is I was a kid in the 80's so it all seemed like super heroes and villains to me.
Like hogan was superman and andre was lex luther.
I'm 35 now, that's the problem.

Re: seriously, why do grown men watch pro wrestling?
Sadly, I'd say the AJ/Punk/Bryan thing is the best thing going right now, which really says a lot for the quality of angles.

Undoubtedly one of the types lecturing everyone who voted Alison Brie for Ms. OOT.

Re: seriously, why do grown men watch pro wrestling?
The only point I was making is that I don't wacth wrestling for the good looking women.
I don't object to them either.
But they don't make up for rubbish storylines and involving them in rubbish angles does nothing for great performers like punk and bryan.

Re: seriously, why do grown men watch pro wrestling?
WTF, the stuff with AJ has taken Punk and Bryan from top of hour one "main event, but not really" level to actually legit "main eventing" shows at the very end.
The fact that they only trust the two of them to hold viewers if AJ is involved is a legit endorsement of how good AJ has been and how much you are in the minority.
I would bet if we had a minute by minute breakdown, the most drawing wrestling talent right now is AJ and its probably not even close either with Cena somewhere at or near number 2 and Punk somewhere below Santino and maybe Hornswoggle around 4th or 5th but above Bryan. Not to mention the story is awesome, hatters gonna hat.

Re: seriously, why do grown men watch pro wrestling?
Come off it, the punk angle where he walked out as champ was the most compelling angle since the attitude era.
Of course they rushed it and made a mess of it, but punk played that part brilliantly.
Punk's angle with jericho was also well done but lost credibility because there was no way jericho was getting the belt.
Turning the best performer since Austin into a "i don't know what to do about this demented bat following me around" type character is nonsense.
Even in the PG era punk has enough charisma and credibilty to be a bad ass face. This angle does ntohing for him

I dunno, this AJ thing could turn out to be good. AJ is one of the few people that comes down the ramp on TV that you really legit have no ****ing clue what she's gonna do, and I think that's important.
Most of us can pretty much predict the outcome of most matches, most promos, backstage spots and all that.
But you really have no idea WTF AJ is gonna do.

I doubt anyone in WWE creative can come up with a complete storyline this compelling, but if they made AJ the female in Chris Jericho's return videos, it would be the angle of the year. Jericho could win MITB, use the case to challenge the winner of Punk/Bryan, and win the belt with AJ's help (she's already involved in the Punk/Bryan match as special referee).

keanosdog - if you want to hate on the punk/bryan/aj thing then that is your perogative, but i ask again: what exactly are you fast forwarding to?
ie what is better than that on current wwe programming?
