but seriously, it's 2017 and the main event of wrestlemania is john cena vs randy orton

seriously

I'll be shocked if that is actually the plan.

Love the whole Orton/Wyatt story but don't really get how the Rumble victory works with it or is necessary. Rumble was great until the out-of-shape part-timers started crushing guys who give their all to THIS BUSINESS every week.

my favorite part is "cena's last chance" with 2 minutes and 16 seconds left in the video

I think wyatt wins title at EC and faces orton

Cena vs taker/corbin/styles maybe, or maybe it is a triple threat vs wyatts and he overcomes odds

well, considering I didn't follow WWE for almost the entirety of John Cena's career.....a Cena/Orton program is new to me!

I did thoroughly enjoy that video, though.

I'd say there is less than a 10% chance of it being Orton v Cena 1v1 at Mania.

Also I think I probably oversold how good the rumble was earlier. I was just so terrified of Taker or Dadberg winning it that I marked out harder than I probably should for an ok option. Agree with those saying Wyatt winning would have been better in the final 3.

Johnny Grunch -

What can I say about WWE booking that hasn't already been said about Afganistan? It looks bombed out and depleted.

I don't know if this was a really bad rumble or I just didn't enjoy it because of my own expectations being high. I was really thinking Joe was debuting and when it got the 30 I was super excited thinking "they're actually going to do it". When Reigns music hit.... seinfeld.gif.

Cena is champ and Orton won the rumble. WTF.

You know how, for some guys, they show them running down the ramp, and for others, they cut away?

Here's why:

Meh. I don't dislike Orton but that's about the most boring winner they could have come up with on the entire roster. I think I preferred Batista and HHH winning, at least they elicited a reaction.

Friend was at the rumble and said the pop was HUGE for orton when he won. Didn't seem that way on TV but he said it was probably biggest pop of the night.

I believe him too. When I went to SD recently he had the biggest pop outside of Cena. Ppl love them some RKO

Tanahashi and NJPW's reaction to the Rumble:

What I find most interesting about this is not the reaction but the thought that Tanahashi walks around all day in his gear.

edit: they even pinned the tweet for maximum lolz

edit 2: Okada LOL

The only way to explain this is the combo of RKO fans and people who just didn't want Roman to win. I find it hard to believe Goldberg or Taker didn't get the biggest reaction without a combination of factors leading to that accolade going to Orton.

I've enjoyed Orton since his transformation (he hasn't transformed ) to a Wyatt. It's at least interesting compared to the previous years.

Actual crowd reaction to Roman at #30

I could be a sucker as usual but I think they might be planting the seeds for a Roman heel turn. He acted a little heel-ish when he came out and Cole even mentioned that "something happened to him". That look he gave Taker when he eliminated him was pretty savage.

Something definitely happened during his entrance. I don't know if anyone commented at the time here, but the crowd reaction before he hit the ring suggested that something happened

If he retires Taker at Mania, then gives him a post-match beatdown, that could be a very effective way of turning him heel.

Also, I think smarks like us tend to read too much into things. I've read a lot of people saying that Cena "worked heel" in his match. I think that's just wishful thinking on the part of smarks who want Cena to turn heel. Compare how Cena worked compared to an actual heel (KO or Bobby Roode from this weekend or The Revival from the last Takeover), and there's no comparison. Cena doesn't cheat or use shortcuts. He was actually more heelish in the Rollins feud, where he attacked Seth after the match even though Seth had a later match with Sting. Being arrogant doesn't necessarily make you a heel, (unless you're over the top with it like Roode).

Was RR working heel? No. He was arrogant, but he's been arrogant for a while ("The Guy").

I would kind of love if they did a Taker passes the torch to Roman angle in an attempt to get him over as a face.

I definitely think you're right about reading too much into things, I'm definitely guilty of it quite a bit. Also agree it has a lot to do with wishful thinking.

On that note. Meltzer is reporting the current plan is(potential Fastlane spoiler)..

Spoiler:
Goldberg over Owens at Fastlane and defending it against Brock at WM.

I'm finding it hard to believe but if it's true then the whole putting over part timers trope is getting out of hand. That's the last feud that needs a title.
