Yeah, it's awful. Lunatic fringe, etc etc.

They've promoted this match like it's Ric Flair vs Daniel Bryan. Who the hell are these two in the ring?

Has anyone had a long, successful career when they came up as "so and so's relative"? I feel like there's gotta be SOMEONE. I don't thiiink Cody Rhodes came in that way (while Ted Jr did in legacy) thought I'd consider Cody's career successful for reference.

Dustin Rhodes came into the business in 1990 with Dusty. Orton is another example but I wasn't watching when he was coming up so I'm not sure how much they played that up.

cant remember orton coming in, but was he really doing the whole "BOB ORTONS SON gimmick" thing?

also wasnt watching with dustin, tho that looks about right as he was working with dusty. thats def been a successful career.

So far there's been Yes, DB's boots, and strutting. Nothing to make me like Brie at all. Just cause she knows another wrestler I liked?

They mentioned who he was, but his father wasn't around except for a brief run vs Taker about 5 years into his career. Which Taker ended when it was discovered Cowboy Bob had hepatitis or something like that after blading.

We all forgot the best wrestler that was trying to get over via family: The ****ing Rock. idk how anybody forgets him. Although not successful in that incarnation I guess. Depends how you look at the question.

I think the question is about whether using family to get over works. I really don't think it helped Rock at all. He was getting "Rocky Sucks" chants in an era where crowds usually didn't actively oppose ****ty faces.

Dustin and the Rock both became more successful once they dropped the "son of a famous wrestler" gimmick. Nick Bockwinkel started off with that gimmick as well and became much more successful after shedding it; he started as a smiling white meat babyface just like the Rock.

Out of company more than 30 years ago is completely different. Von Erichs were incredibly popular because they were Fritz's sons.

Just because you can fly like that for a backdrop doesn't mean you should be taking that kind of bump for Jericho. You take that for Jericho, what are you going to do when Lesnar throws you? Hit the ceiling?
