That is just a huge punch to the gut. I was really hoping all his health problems were behind him. He'll be missed.

This is a sad day. I was always a fan of his, given that we share the same hometown (Saskatoon). I will always remember him winning the IC title at the '92 Royal Rumble, then going deep in the Rumble itself hours later. Great promo cutter and great entertainer.

RIP Roddy.

What a ****ty week for 80's wrestling.

Well, these last few months have not been pretty for the old-school wrestling guys. With Dusty Rhodes passing, the Hulk Hogan situation, and now this. May Hot Rod rest in peace.

aww damn. not that I've even thought of the man in 20 years, but it sucks that he died relatively young, he provided me with entertainment in my formative years for sure. rip

RIP to one of my all time favs.

Not many wrasslers are on or close to the same level as Piper when it comes to mic work.

I was shocked. But then again, guess we can't be too surprised that an 80s wrestler's heart exploded, though.

RIP.

Jfc 61. Shouldn't happen that young in this day and age

"Just when they think they got the answers, I change the questions".

Underrated in ring worker. His matches at Mania against Adonis and Bret Hart were very good.

Man, this really bums me out and I wasn't even much of a fan of his work. Agreed with moorobot about his WM matches, the match with Adonis was very good and the match with Hart was stellar. RIP Hot Rod.

I really enjoyed him in his Mid-Atlantic days back in the early 80's. He was awesome on Always Sunny. Here's a little tribute from his early WWF days -- sorry about the quality.

61 is just scary young.

Quote:
His monumental career highlights include Intercontinental Champion, World Tag Team Champion, WCW U.S. Champion
Pretty crazy that the people with comparable title histories are MVP, Shelton Benjamin, Big E, Ezekiel Jackson, Curtis Axel, Drew McIntyre, Test, Carlito, and Marty Jannetty.

Wasn't much of a fan but marked out when he appeared out of nowhere in a saints row game.

Deserves to be said that he was such a good talker that he didn't need a belt to draw money.
