I'm reading this as more of a "HHH/Vince don't want Wrestlemania to end with their #1 face getting booed after winning the title" rather than "HHH doesn't want to do a job".

Having Shane/Taker go on last alleviates the problem of Roman winning the title to close out the show.

(Of course, it creates a ****ton of other problems)

I think this spoils that the plan is roman winning clean, and H couldn't give a **** about jobbing now that he has serious skin in the game of how the company actually performs. In a storyline chock full of plot holes, this one is actually explainable. He doesn't get control of the whole company, on RAW. It was Vince who equated controlling RAW to controlling the whole company.

The bottom line is that the Shane storyline doesn't make sense. They have worded things in a confusing manner either because they are confused as well, or because they are obfuscating intentionally out of hope that people will just be blinded by Shane's return, the aura of the Undertaker and Wrestlemania, etc. and won't worry about it.

If they had some type of elaborate long drawn out angle that would build from the Taker/Shane match then absolutely making it the main event is what's best for business

This has always been my biggest problem with the match. It should've taken place over months with Shane actually controlling RAW. Instead everything was thrown together in one segment where it's totally illogical for Shane to even agree to a match. It's incredibly stupid.

Don't think it's possible to come up with a worse IC title match.

Half of the guys in it are wrestlers who were LITERALLY acknowledged as jobbers (Owens hand picked worst wrestlers on the roster) on this week's Raw. Like how do they expect anyone to take that match seriously?
