To be honest, I can't recall a PPV in the past almost 2 years that I have been watching again that has not had sub par expectations, yet the wrestlers usually rise above it and put on a good show. For that reason and some others I am mildly anticipating the show in two weeks. The fact that I will be able to watch on the big screen this year doesn't hurt either.

And remember, Shane does own WCW. They're gonna do the invasion angle right this time!

Flair just held Shane's WWF shares, not WCW. Invasion back on!

I find it a bit disturbing that there is less than 2 weeks until WM, with only one RAW left, and they have not mentioned the role that either Austin or Rock will play. Now in fairness to them, I don't think they ever announced Austin for the show, but he did, so maybe he will have a surprise type role, but the Rock has been announced for months. Maybe they are wholly satisfied with ticket and Network sales so they don't care, but I think that is awful planning

It'll probably just be another filler promo like they had 2 years ago

And inducting the Freebirds into the Hall of Fame will be.......

Should have been the Spirit Squad.

Not sure why people don't understand New Day inducting the Freebirds. The Freebirds pioneered the idea of a 3-man tag team that defends its belts with any two of the members. The New Day revived that tradition.

If the norm was currently active wrestlers inducting most HOFer's, then yes, New Day would be ideal. But the trend has usually been, and I'd rather see, someone closely associated with the inductee coming out and telling a few stories in most cases. Unfortunately, there's only one Von Erich left, but I'd think there were plenty of people I'd pick from that era to induct the Freebirds before the New Day.

EDIT: Actually, Mark Henry would have been perfect to induct Michael Hayes.

Someone in a thread asked who was inducting Hansen. It'll be Vader.

Quote:
When Vader first started out in the AWA, Hansen and Bruiser Brody took him under their wing and did their version of schooling him, which was essentially beating the everlasting **** out of him pretty much every night . Vader tells a story on Austins podcast about how the day his son was born, his first child, he finally got up enough nerve to approach Brody about their matches being so one sided and he said "Look Frank, my son was born today, and I don't want to go out there and get my ass kicked on the day my son was born. So can we please just go out there and have a normal competitive match?" Brody said "Sure Leon, no problem." They go out, the bell sounds, Brody rolls out of the ring and immediately grabs a chair and proceeds to baseball swing it right into Vader's head, knocking him down, then he started kicking the crap out of him before finally letting up and saying "Is this competitive enough for ya?"
Of course later on, Stan was still beating the **** out of Vader by popping his eye out of his eye socket during a match.

There was a famous match where Brody "went into business for himself" or some kinda weird **** against Lex Luger in a cage in the 80's. Kinda scared the crap out of Luger cause he said he had no idea what he was doing. I hear Brody talked about like a God from some of the old-timer's, but also hear a lot of **** like this and he seemed to hardly ever sell for anyone, so I don't entirely get it.

Thanks for the listing, Gus.

OO, that match is on YT (Brody just stopped selling and Lex thought Brody was going to hurt him). Count me in the group that doesn't get it. I guess that's what reputation will get you. From the matches I've seen of his in Japan, he's been good. I also saw an hour broadway 2/3 falls vs. Flair from KC that was really good as well. From these stories, it's easy to see how he ended up how he did.

The Brody/Luger incident:

Match is normal until about the 4 minute mark. Then Brody just stops selling.

BTW, why are we talking about this in the Wrestlemania thread. Neither wrestler are part of WM 32, though both are associated with an HOF inductee (Brody and Hansen were tag partners while Luger and Sting had an on again off again relationship).

The short answer it's more interesting than Wrestlemania.

The longer answers is Hansen is going into the HOF inducted by Vader, who's connected to Brody, who's connected to Luger who's connected to Kevin Bacon in less than 6 degrees.

I'd put this in NVG but it's interesting and has no spoilers:

According to PWtorch the word going out is that HHH wants ShaneVsTaker to go on last as the true main event closing Wrestlemania 32

However it's Vince that wants HHH and Reigns to close the show for the WWE championship. HHH isn't sold on his main event because the original plans for Reigns isn't working and the story isn't progressing or being told how they wanted it to, he now believes it's a weaker story compared Takers career and Raw power on the line.

They've been getting into heated arguments backstage and it's worrying some people who worry for Vince's health that this mania has been the most stressful for him in recent years.
Having Shane ****ing McMahon main event the biggest WM of all-time would be bordering on ****ing obscene. It really gives away the Shane victory as well. Chances HHH just doesn't want the last image of him being pinned to end WM?

HHH does not want to job to someone fans do not connect with.

It is clear as day from that.

Yep.

Vince brought this stress on himself with his own stubbornness. They have plenty of talent that could have made this WM great but Vince gonna Vince.

While prime HHH hated jobbing, it's clear that 2010s HHH doesn't jobbing. But jobbing to Daniel Bryan meant something. Jobbing to a red hot babyface Shield team meant something. Not sure how jobbing to Curtis Axel fits in here, though.

Axel has a good rep backstage and is really well liked. Before he was Curtis Axel he helped Rock train for his return and Rock was praising him all over the place publicly. That led to him being repackaged as Axel and a huge push. It didn't work out so well.
