Re: Real Wrestling

I disagree. The lines sometimes get vague on this kind of thing. I mean I view it as a combination of (these days) poor acting and good stunt work.

I mean, is this "sport" or "entertainment" in your mind?

Re: Real Wrestling

To me, the above X-Games video is a "competition" rather than a sport. Of course, this is the age-old debate I guess. Whenever my friends and I get into this, someone invariably becomes offended when something they do/watch is labeled as "not a sport" as if that means it's not difficult.

Re: Real Wrestling

Interesting. I knew Swagger had an NCAA career, never knew about Ziggler.

Wasn't Kurt Angle trying to get in the Olympics this year?

Re: Real Wrestling

BTW, here's Angle winning the gold. I have no idea how he won a match with a tie score.

I've heard this is just an angle.

I'd imagine realistically he's too old and would get his ass repeatedly handed to him.

Plus he's been training for performance, not competition, so his workouts are basically just a bodybuilding workout, not anything to bring him to the level of strength/stamina/cardio he'd need to compete again.

Plus he's old.

Re: Real Wrestling

Back when Karelin was dominating the Greco-Roman world. Against former WCW wrestler Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman with a couple of awesome throws at the end:

23 posts and no mention of the GOAT Cael Sanderson?

Disappointed.

I'll just leave this here...

Re: Real Wrestling

The greatest match I ever watched live.

Brent Metcalf (228-0 HS career. 4x state champ. 2x NCAA champ. 1x NCAA runner up) vs Matt Dragon (1x PA State champ) in the Dapper Dan Classic. The Dapper Dan is pretty much the best seniors from PA vs the best (or at least the best that decide they want to go) seniors from the rest of the USA. Since I'm from PA I was obviously interested... not to mention a kid from my HS was wrestling in this event.

Spoiler alert
Spoiler:

Anyway, enjoy.
