Most who would bother to open this probably know about my Monday Night Wars thread. Sometimes I feel like watching wrestling, and even have the energy to give it a full writeup, but am in a mood to watch a different era than that MNW era (70% of the time, this will mean that I ran into a goddamn Public Enemy match). At the risk of displaying unwarranted self-indulgence by guessing that people might enjoy another thread of my writing, I decided that I would throw this thread up as a place where I might write up something that happened in another time in wrestling history.

I'll be happy to take requests, and if the interest exists then there's a good chance that I may work entirely off of people's requests. If people are interested in seeing a show get the full writeup treatment, gifs and all, post nominations ITT.

Notes:
1. Nothing from the Monday Night Wars era, so that's Fall Brawl '95 up until WrestleMania X-7 in 2001.
2. Please be kind and give me something that either you really personally enjoy or that you find to be awful in a way that you suspect would provide for an entertaining writeup. Inducing me to write up something like that is awful and also provides very little in the way of unintentional entertainment...well, that just makes you a terrible person. To pull an example from the MNW era, Halloween Havoc '95 (Giant falls off the roof of an arena and then wrestles 30 minutes later without explanation) or Uncensored '96 (Tower of Doom) is a good nomination, whereas nWo Souled Out '97 (three hours of misery) is a horrendous one.
3. If you're going to nominate multiple shows, roughly power-rank them in order of preference that you'd like to see; without explaining why, that might influence my decision at any given moment.
4. What I have seen: with some gaps, most WWF/WWE PPVs from WrestleMania I through WrestleMania X-7 and then from sometime roughly around WrestleMania XXV through the present day. In terms of shows in their entirety, mostly what I've seen from WCW falls under the MNW umbrella.
5. What I haven't seen: most pre-1995 WCW/NWA shows, most WWF/WWE shows between WrestleMania X-7 and WrestleMania XXV.
6. I'm happy to write up stuff I have or haven't seen; just figured I would give the above as a point of reference.
7. Stuff that's accessible on the WWE Network, please. If I can't watch it on my TV in decent definition (read: not YouTube in most cases), I probably don't want to bother with it.
8. If a nomination gets thrown my way that I know that I don't want to do, or that others in the thread crap on to an extent sufficient to convince me that I don't want to go there, I'll probably just veto and throw it out.

Some decisions will be unilateral executive decisions; others will likely involve random.org. How much I do with this thread will be heavily correlated with how much interest there seems to be from people wanting to nominate shows and read stuff that gets written.

A great one you've seen: WrestleMania III
A great one you (maybe) haven't seen: Great American Bash 89
A horrible one: Halloween Havoc 91
A personal favourite: Beach Blast 92

Yeah, certainly I've seen Flair-Funk from GAB '89 and absolutely loved it, but I don't know that I've seen anything else from that show. I know that Beach Blast '92 gets all kinds of love, and I'm not sure that I've seen a single match. I think I recognize which one Havoc '91 is, but very likely haven't seen any of it.

I did write up WM III for that Mania writeups thread, but not on the level of the full writeups that I do in the MNW thread (aside from having done a full Savage-Steamboat writeup in my Meltzer thread). The show as a whole probably deserves the comprehensive treatment at some point.

I'll give you two that I think fall into the "so bad they are good" category.

The Wrestling Classic from 1985

Great American Bash from 1991

Honestly, you can stop reviewing Havoc after the Chamber of Horrors match. I'd thought about Bash 91, but nobody should ever be subjected to that.

Also if I ever get around to finishing the Manias, I was going to suggest something similar with the Starrcades and see if anyone had any interest. Something to think about for the future

It's worth it just for the debut of Oz. The pyrotechnics in that alone is worth the price of admission

Also I mostly hated that Wrestling Classic and don't think it's particularly good writeup material, despite the LOL part where Junkyard Dog wins via pinfall despite the referee forgetting to show up for the match. I mean, I could roast it on a number of fronts, but I'm guessing that it's unlikely that I'll do that one.

A so bad it's good selection: WoW women of wrestling Unleashed 2001

Backstory: WoW women of wrestling was a small promotion exclusively with women created in 2000 by Dave McLane which used uh, lets say characters, as the personas of their performers. For instance, they put three of them in orange jumpsuits and called them CAGED HEAT. So think of that period of WWE where everyone coming in was a ridiculous gimmick.

Unleashed was their first - and only - Pay Per View event. It has an ungodly amount of matches (13).

Why you would like it:

- One of the announcers, somehow, is Bobby the Brain Heenan. They paid him money to commentate this one PPV. Bobby gave zero ****s about what was happening and was openly ****ting on the promotion at various points.

- One of the most ABSURD ref bumps of all time that serves entirely zero purpose. It will make you go WHAT, BUT WHY?!

- In the midst of some terrible action getting **** on by bobby, there's randomly a surprisingly good match that just doesn't belong at all. Maybe it's good because it's next to the other stuff, maybe it's actually good, idk. I've only watched it once.

I found it thanks to Review a wai (a podcast) a handful of years ago and it was an amazing podcast, so a friend and I decided we had to watch it. It ended up being even better than we imaged.

I think it'll be a good, easy laid back review for a day where you're not in the mood for good/intense wrestling but want to be entertained instead of watching WCW.

There used to be a daily motion of it but I can't find it, so heres a link to the youtube playlist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGRZ...x9vl6emq-qI_Bz

edit: I just finished reading the OP and saw this specifically not be what you wanted. I'll leave it here anyways because it involves Bobby so much, but my selection below of Summerslam 2002 works at least!

As for a good one I'd love to see reviewed, Summerslam 2002 is way up there.

Backlash (I WANT YOU TO CALL BACKLASH?) 2004.

I think it has a mix of very good (two 4.5* Meltzer matches), bad yet good (Intergender Handicap Match, no really), and yeesh.

Hilariously bad: SuperBrawl 2000
Top 10 ppv of all-time you haven't seen: Beach Blast 92. I can't believe you haven't seen Steamboat/Rude Ironman or Cactus/Sting FCA.

Was that even a televised event? I thought they just held the event and then broadcast highlights of it on weekly TV afterward. I don't think it had matches or anything.

I'm under the impression that the open invitation for pro athletes to show up and try to slam Yoko was legit, and that their attempts were a shoot, so it's funny to think of Lex Luger hovering around in a nearby helicopter and then suddenly getting word that his hero moment had been blown up by Bill Fralic of the Detroit Lions. I just remember that Fralic was one who actually got Yoko temporarily off the mat, where most had understandably failed to even do that much.

SB 2000 is in that MNW window that I'll theoretically get to in that thread, so I'll leave that in that universe provided that I never officially tap out and give up on continuing with that project.

I knew that Beach Blash '92 was likely to come up. I don't know why I've never gone back to watch it. I'll do that writeup here at some point.

Yeah, I thought about it as I was putting this up, and I'd consider doing an ECW show.

Anyway, I built up some momentum in the MNW thread with a writeup, so I think I'm going to power through and delve into Spring Stampede. But I'm sure it won't be long until I pull from one of the suggestions here.

Was going to suggest the first One Night Stand.

And for something new that I really liked: NXT R-Evolution.

I remember that NXT show being a great one. Will definitely add that one for consideration.

I'll throw One Night Stand in the hopper as well.

Not sure if this is out of your realm of possibility or interest, but I would love to read a write up on a couple Lucha Underground shows. Maybe Ultima Lucha I or Aztec Warfare I.

Edit: Nevermind, reading comprehension is hard. Didn't read the only on WWE Network part.

LU might be possible if the stuff is on YouTube, since a modern product probably has good-looking picture even on YT. The Network-only part is just my way of saying that I want to be able to watch it on my TV in decent definition instead of on my computer.
