And that's more of the fault of the developers and the Microsoft monopoly than it is of Apple.
Not getting at you personally, I've noticed that a lot of people seem to hate Apple and don't really know why.
EDIT - Just realised it might be because they 'stole' a lot of their ideas, but it's not like Microsoft and other huge companies don't do that too.
The edit nailed my go to first point, the bigger reasons right now is there are a lot of things Apple does that i just can never get past with the IP war being a huge one where Jobs decided to sue Android manufacturers instead of just trying to outperform them. The way they lock people into their gated community bugs me too, where they not only control what apps can go in their app store but have literally stolen app ideas and forced other apps to not be accepted if they compete with anything they sell so the itunes/appstore/iHardware creates an ecosystem that is basically a monopoly funnelling money to the largest company in the world (or second largest perhaps with the new oil price highs).
The way i see it Apple today is the Microsoft of the 90s, only a lot worse than MS whose biggest crimes were bunding IE with Windows and scoring deals with IBM.
As a minor point i hate Apple fanboys more than Android or MS or Linux fanboys. They just act all smarmy and better to a degree others dont which rubs me the wrong way. When instagram (some dumb photo sharing thing) went to Android and literally thousands of users got pissed cos it wasnt iPhone exclusive anymore happened a week back, that summed it up nicely. Im an inverted Apple fanboy i guess, though i tend to gravitate towards Google.
I wouldnt say what they make is **** products or anything, for the most part its really well put together if rarely unique and for obvious reasons it usually is the measure of what the top end of the various markets looks like, but a lot more of their success is down to really good marketing as it is good product. A good example is Google had voice controls for years and most people didnt know or care, then Siri got bought by Apple, bundled into the 4s and suddenly it was some awesome new feature that cant be beaten. Though i did lol when the Woz said Android's original version was still better.
