How have I not heard of the WrestleMania album until now?

I don't think I've pulled harder for the Packers in my life until today.

Shoot me in the ****ing face if we're actually headed for a Packers-Patriots Super Bowl. Or Packers-Steelers. Or Packers-Chiefs.

The nation continues to owe me a sincere personal apology for not reacting to Aaron Rodgers properly. I feel like I have to stay off of Twitter for fear that people might say nice things, and I know from past history that obviously I have to steer far, far clear of reading SE, where I know to a functional certainty that the groupthink nuthugging is surely still off the charts.

Steelers games never wig me out even 10% as much, because it feels like we as a country are all in the anti-Steelers crowd together (aside from the one fanbase themselves, hi dvo). If people would just join me then I could feel a much duller and more tolerable level of despair.

A good friend of mine is a Packers fan, and I lost a FB picture bet for the Super Bowl in 2011 (had to wear a Packers jersey for the picture...gross). So I wouldn't mind getting some revenge there en route to Super Bowl #7, the pain you'd suffer watching notwithstanding.

Bets like those seem to have more downside than upside. It's why I'm permanently retired from avatar bets (after having booked multiple wins and losses in them). The prize is clearly less than the punishment IMO.

Haha, gotta admit that there's something funny about receiving condolences because some random team from another division won.

But yes, I'm bitter.

Also I would totally slap on a Falcons avatar right now in support of their NFC Title hopes next week, but then it would look like I lost an avatar bet because of yesterday, and I can't have that.

I shudder to think of how Rodgers is going to shred the Falcons, but thankfully Matt Ryan should have a day too.

GODGERS!!!

Having said that, do not want to face Pack in SB as a Pats fan

Master,
Since this football weekend was a bust, please write in and convince the Niners to hire Tom Cable away from the Seahawks. You'll be hard-pressed to find a Seahawks fan who wants him to continue to be anywhere on our staff, so him becoming the Niners head coach sounds wonderful.

I enjoyed that the Niner SB Nation blog was advocating swallowing hard and rooting for Seattle yesterday just so Tom Cable wouldn't become available for the Niners to hire, but yesterday happened and apparently he interviewed in SF today.

That was one of the best NFL games ive watched in a long long time. Got GOATED by the GOAT. All the RBs getting killed this year backed McCarthy into correctly just throwing it 40 times.

Spike with :43 seems incredibly terrible. Was yelling that youre never running out of time there, youre losing a down, you have a time out, and all youre doing is giving Rodgers enough time to beat you if you kick a FG. They promptly went pass for 7, stop the clock, 3rd and 3, miss, stop the clock, kick FG, proceed to lose with 33 seconds given to him. It being 2nd and 3 with 28 seconds seems infinitely better.

Dak was incredible. Just lol at all the Romo slappies, including Troy when it was 21-3 saying Romo gives a better chance of big plays. Dak is one of the very few good QBs in the league imo. Makes good progressions, can put it in a tight window (the Dez TD was beautiful and there were 3-4 other great passes in tight windows defended well by GB). Just a couple of boneheaded things done due to bad coaching - the butler sub come out and the spike being the two majors ones - was the difference.

Oh well. Hope they win it all. Atlanta is fine too. I'd even be ok with Reid getting one. Just not NE or Pit plz.

LKJ,

Your Mariners are quietly having a top 3 offseason imo. Im likely going to be on them to win the AL West, AL, and WS this year.

I love Romo and hope that he gets another meaningful chance to play in the league (not Arizona please), but certainly agree that Dak is really good and that it would have been absurd to sub him out of this one.

I wasn't so mad at the spike at the time, but that was partially because I was under the mistaken impression in the moment that they were out of TOs. Given more time to think about it, yes it was terrible. But I probably would have advocated using the TO there just to maintain a more realistic scenario of the game-winning TD instead of just the tying FG.

Although I subscribe to MLB.tv and watch 120+ games per year, I feel like I remain pretty baseball-ignorant, and every time they make a move I just go around looking to see what the smart baseball people think; I rarely have enough knowledge to make up my own mind on those things. But I see that the transactions are mostly getting very positive reviews.

As far as the WS goes, I'll have a hard time letting my hopes get up that high before opening day. For preseason expectations, I'll just be happy if we can break the stupid 15-year playoff drought.

Thank goodness we were only the second saddest team on the field tonight. If we're only 1-6 in the red zone then the game is never in doubt. Survive and advance I suppose.

I read the first line of this after reading the prior post and thought "Wait, the M's signed Romo and LKJ is HAPPY about it?"

This will be the third time in the last 4 years I'm going in with high hopes for the Ms. Needless to say, it has not worked out well so far.

The first of the two good available options appears to be coming true.

I'm glad we didn't have to resort to "giant tornado wipes out the stadium" as the second choice.

Yeah, the Super Bowl has been rescued. As long as I'm able to have a rooting interest in the SB that I don't hate, that's all I really ever ask for.

Pretty ambivalent about the nightcap. More fatigued by the Patriots, but they also offend me less than Pittsburgh, so...hopefully just an entertaining game, and I root against the winner in two weeks.
