Depending on where you live, you might be able to get your local TV channels via an antenna. That's up to 4 NFL games per week, including all of your local team's games and most of the playoffs (one (or is it two?) game per year is on ESPN).

And it will tell you how close you are to the transmitters and what kind of antenna you need. You should be able to get an antenna for under $50.
Keep in mind that the web site isn't foolproof. For my old house, it said I could get all the networks, but I was never reliable able to get Fox. So I could only get the CBS and NBC games. And I had to carefully position the antenna to get NBC. Only CBS was reliable.
But if you receive a signal, the picture quality is excellent, even better than cable, theoretically (cable companies compress the signal, you receive the full data rate).
