Well, ladies and gentlemen, that is the Canadian Military. About 2 months ago someone in Ottawa did that exact thing. To every single member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Somewhere around 89 thousand individual email accounts. The reply alls that followed ran similar to this timeline:

A clueless question > someone telling that person to not reply all > someone realising what is happening > hundreds of memes > threats from actual generals about charges if people don't stop replying all > more memes > more threats > more memes.

Then came the actual charges, followed by protocol briefings. All in all, it was probably the least productive day I had at a computer in all my time in the army. Great stuff. Would watch it all unfold again.

I vaguely recall something like this on my ship. Of course, I was not involved. Nope, not me.

I'm 6'4"/275. I'm certainly heavier than I should be (though probably not to the extent of being username-worthy); I'm working on it.

Dick Murdoch for you sir.

Sling TV interface seems like it sucks. Reconnecting cable channels for football season, and I gave them first crack, but I think I'm canceling at the end of the 7-day free trial. I could save a trivial amount going with them over a beefed-up cable package, but it doesn't seem worth it.

You can get NFL Sunday Ticket without the benefit of DirecTV cable service now, at least in some circumstances. You can see if you're eligible at nflst.directv.com.

I wasn't thrilled with the service last year, but I'm still re-upping.

If any of you like Malcolm Gladwell I urge you to check out his Revisionist History podcast.

Depending on where you live, you might be able to get your local TV channels via an antenna. That's up to 4 NFL games per week, including all of your local team's games and most of the playoffs (one (or is it two?) game per year is on ESPN).

Enter your zip code into this web site: http://www.antennaweb.org/Address

And it will tell you how close you are to the transmitters and what kind of antenna you need. You should be able to get an antenna for under $50.

Keep in mind that the web site isn't foolproof. For my old house, it said I could get all the networks, but I was never reliable able to get Fox. So I could only get the CBS and NBC games. And I had to carefully position the antenna to get NBC. Only CBS was reliable.

But if you receive a signal, the picture quality is excellent, even better than cable, theoretically (cable companies compress the signal, you receive the full data rate).

I read The Tipping Point and found it to be a throwaway. My assumption has been to just not bother further with Gladwell. Do you significant prefer any of his other books to that one?

Actually, I forgot about Thursday Night Football. All of the TNF games are on the NFL Network. However, 10 of the TNF games will be simulcast on both NFL Network and an OTA network. In addition, those 10 games will also stream on Amazon Prime.

In addition, according to this page: http://www.nfl.com/tnf, all NFL Network games will be available on the NFL App from Verizon, from their Xbox app, and their Windows 10 app.

OTA is certainly good and can be had on the cheap in the way that gus says. A lot depends on how important it is for PJ to be able to follow the Bears weekly. If he's still in Colorado then I can't imagine he'll pick them up on local networks more than 2-3 times all year.

Oh, you're a Bears fan in Colorado? Yeah, you're screwed.

You can find streams of questionable legality pretty easily. (Don't think I'm allowed to link them here, but Google is your friend). But they aren't always of high quality. And some sites put junk on your computer.

Ive gone the antenna route so many times and just never had any success. Plus yeah, TNF, MNF, and whatever else is always not basic cable.

Streams are just a pain in the ass, itd be worth paying for cable for a few months just to not have to deal with stupid internet issues.

Meh. The great thing about football is you can watch 16 games of any team easily. The ultimate irony being how easily accessible and cheap viewing 162 games of the hot garbage delivered by the white sox is.

Outliers was probably my favourite, but Tipping Point is right up there. The style of Tipping Point is probably most in line with the podcast, so I would guess that you likely won't enjoy it too much, then.

Blair Walsh misses that FG for the Vikings to gift the Seahawks a playoff game two years ago. Now, not only is he the Seahawks' kicker, but he's talking **** at the Vikings' sideline after making FGs against them in a preseason game.

On some level I would like to apologize to the Vikings for such a shameless display, but on the other hand, their manner of pilfering Steve Hutchinson in 2006 was bush league and I will use it to justify all anti-Viking things for the rest of time.
