I've got The Nightingale as maybe my favorite book I've read this year so far, and probably the best WWII historical fiction narrative I've ever read. Tremendous writing. I loved The Book Thief, and this one leaves it in the dust pretty easily.

As I have stated this on many occasions, but I am a huge fan of bad entertainment. I love it when it's obvious that the writers and actors are "in" on it being bad, but my absolute favorite is when they think they are doing good work and take themselves wayyyyy too seriously.

For instance, an example of everyone being in on it is the movie Student Bodies. That is one of my all time favorite movies. Fair warning, if you do search that out, make sure you get the horror/comedy from 1980. Back in the day I ordered it from Suncoast Video and wasn't aware there was an adult version of that movie. So when I went to pick it up I got a stern lecture from the manager about how they don't deal in those types of movies. Needless to say I never showed my face in there again.

An example of everyone taking themselves way too serious is Troll 2. I'm sure most of you have at least heard of that movie. If not, search it out. There is also a great documentary about that movie which I also recommend. The writerdotectir still takes that movie serious to this day

Yeah, Best Worst Movie about Troll 2 is one of my favorite documentaries period. Very well done.

What's the word on David Phelps, Jim? I'm seeing a slightly positive reaction from the Mariner side of the trade on Twitter.

He's been pretty great for a little while now. Really nice bolster to the pen and more importantly is still controlled for another year so it's not a total rental. I like it for both sides

I will say, I don't actually have much confidence the M's end up in this year's playoffs, but this particular edition of the Mariners is more fun to root for than most. Very likable team. Obviously the division title isn't happening this year, but even just a wildcard game would sure be nice to find a way into.
