This post is incredibly ignorant.

Gay people have felt the need to hide who they are because they faced hatred, scorn, violence, and discrimination if they were open about their sexual preference.

The very attitudes on display in this thread are exactly why 1- people are still hesitant to come out 2- it's important that they do.

When I was a kid if there was someone even acting the least bit gay then we would abuse them physically and mentally. We would bring them to tears and in some cases probably close to the point of putting a bullet into their own head. And by "we" , I suppose I really mean "I." Regardless, these prejudices still exist. I don't see it much in my daily life, except for in one place: at the poker table.

I am with doc on this. Nowdays it is a lot more about publicity than being open.

Come out as gay, get some air time is pretty much what it comes down to.

I think there is a large problem though with a lot of gay people not really having their own identity. They base too much of their being on the fact that they are gay.

I have met a lot of people who are gay first and the rest of their personality after as opposed to just being a person who happens to be gay.

Maybe that is something to do with coming to terms with it themselves, no idea really.

In the poker world, I feel sorry for Vanessa Selbst and Jason Somerville as their sexuality is one of the first things brought up about them. Witness the recent Bluff articles about them. Number two on the list of things people probably know about Vanessa was the fact she is a lesbian. The mention that Jason was gay took a little bit longer.

But tt shouldn't matter that they are gay.

As far as Grind goes, I hope that was just you trolling. But if it is true, I hope you realize the error of your ways. It isn't right to pick on anyone for any reason.

In Vanessa's case, her sexuality really does not matter to me. She is one of the best players in the world. That should be the only thing that matters.

As far as Jason goes, I know that he is a good player, but the main thing I know him for is that he came out.

When I see Vanessa Selbst, I can't get past thinking about her hair. I don't think her hairstyle is very good.

To tie this back into wrestling, I have no problem with the way Darren Young came out. He was asked a question about gays in wrestling and responded. Of course, he should have pointed out that Pat Patterson was gay.
