Sounds like MITB, Flair/HBK, Triple threat, and UT/Edge were all real good. Can't wait to d/l the show.

Wow, what are they going to do with Punk? There's like no good option.

Move him off ECW for sure. I'm pretty surprised Orton retained so I'm not sure how him coming to Raw would work. I'm very interested to see how they start booking the next set of feuds.

BTW, i'm rewatching this right now (my cable box rebooted and now the HD PPV works) and a special shout out should go to the crowd...they really were great. Especially the irish dudes in the front section with the U-u-maga chant.

Light failure during Bunny match...Real or worked?

Flair's best work since he's returned to WWE, imo. Excellent match and that HBK Asai Moonsault spot was sick. He'll be sore for a while.

Hate the winner of MitB but I'm glad that some other stuff was set up and at least one of the legit contenders took it down.

Triple Threat finish was awful. It didn't set up any extra heat for anybody or get there to be a clear cut obvious winner. I guess we'll get the same match to headline Backlash.

UT and Edge was a lot better than I expected, and I'm glad Ryder/Hawkins weren't even close. The finish to the Mania main event is supposed to be clean, and its supposed to be one-on-one. Vince and the writers did a great job.

LOL at the blown fuse during the Bunny match, but props for them just keepin' on working. Those guys must have hated having to go out right after the Flair finish. Did I mention that that Flair-HBK match absolutely stole the show?

Vince promoted Flair and HBK right. You can have two babyfaces in a match that is properly developed through psychology and promo time in the weeks leading up to it. I knew, as did everybody else, that Flair would lose, but the fact that there were times when I even somewhat doubted it was basically wrestling at its finest.

LOL @ Umaga not being able to get his fat ass up and almost breaking Batista. Overall an amazingly solid show, and even Finlay and JBL got the tempo up and made that horrible rivalry finish in a fun match. Funny moment of the night was when I watched JBL pick up the trash lid and said to my friend "watch Finlay go for the suicide dive and have JBL smack him" not thinking the old son of a bitch could even actually DO a suicide dive. Sure enough, owned. Mayweather was surprising in that I didn't think he would even get hit, really, but the finish was lame. Now what for Big Show? There won't be a rematch and Rey's out hurt....time for a new angle, but with who? Bad breaks.

Ranking the matches:

1) Flair/HBK. Perfection and the show was worth it just for this one. The type of match I wish Flair had in him for the last 6 years, but I'm glad he got it out.

2) Taker/Edge. Solid show even if it just leads to a rematch at Backlash. This was what the feud was supposed to be LAST year.

3) Money In The Bank. Huge spots, and Shelton Benjamin is a beast. Too bad Jeff Hardy had to go get suspended, but it happens. Hard to make this match interesting when 3 out of the 7 guys are at all believable as possible winners, but its a "high spot" match.

4) WWE Title triple threat...just because. Triple H must really like Randy Orton to agree to put him over continuously and try to build him into a legit champ in the fans' eyes.

5) Mayweather/Show. No storyline after this, but the finish was cool, and anything is better than.....

6) Batista/Umaga. At least the right person won. Makes me wonder about....

7) Kane/Chavo. Congrats, Chavo, you had a world title defense at Wrestlemania. Technically.

8) Finlay/JBL. JBL is great at getting cheap heat, but is this what he came out of retirement for? Beating up midgets and curtain-jerking with Finlay in "Belfast Brawls"?

9) Bunny-Mania. Snoop knocked out Santino and almost made this #8 on my list. Power outage was funny but let's be honest here, this wasn't going anywhere. It did reinforce my belief that Maria is like the second hottest woman ever in the company next to Stacy Keibler.

Why the Umaga hate? Batista kinda sucks.

I thought the "real lights" going out and forcing the "backup lighting" kinda intensified the atmosphere for the main event matches. The transition from natural light to full lighting to emergency lighting kinda represented the buildup in tension that is supposed to occur as the event reaches its conclusion

Batista may suck, but not nearly as hard as Umaga, imo. There's absolutely no depth to the Umaga gimmick. Batista's character may be shallow, but he's not really a midcard guy. I guess barring the occasional agile move like the spinning kick he threw tonight, the way I see it is kinda like anything you think Batista sucks at, Umaga is probably worse. Personal preference I guess, but between Umaga and Khali, I just don't get anything. Either they're monsters or (like in the Battle Royal pre-Mania) completely beatable.

Basically, I'm not the biggest Batista fan, but him jobbing for Umaga would've been a travesty.

Fine, but you can't justify RIGHT NOW him winning a MITB match at Wrestlemania (FFS). It was only Kennedy or CM Punk who really had a chance and obv it comes true. Poor Jeff Hardy, this match was a lock for him imo.

The WWE needs changes. I heard Kevin Nash was backstage at WM, that might be interesting...although he is old, whatever, the guy is awesome.

They need to find a way to sign Christian Cage...he was great with Edge, and has amazing mic skills. Right now he would be teetering between being a Main Eventer and a Midcarder, ala Jeff Hardy.

HHH should go back to being a heel, and Cena being the only face between him, HHH and Orton. I really would like to see Shawn Michaels back in the title hunt, he's got great charisma and will always be a fan favourite - I believe a lot of the wrestling community has forgiven him for Montreal '97, if they haven't forgotten about it already. Also, Umaga is going to SD so that should give time to someone else on the Raw roster.

I guess Umaga is just a guilty pleasure of mine, he is way more versatile than the great khali, who I think should not even be in wrestling. I like the gimmick, whereas Batista has no gimmick, he's just...batista. I guess I warmed up to Umaga the last few PPVs when he had his moments and got the crowd popping.

Is there a new draft coming up?

Also it was a great that lil naitch a smackdown ref was able to ref flairs match.

I think you guys underrate Umaga. I'm admittedly an Umaga mark, but his stuff with Cena (RR07 comes to mind) was way better than Batista ever had (minus UT carrying him through WM23).

Umaga's image has gone to the ****s by repeatedly jobbing after being undefeated for soooo long.

His best days are gone and can't be recovered...he needs Arrrrrrrmando Alejandro Eeeeeeeeeestrada back.

EDIT: Is Umaga Rosey or am I off base here?

Matt,
I could be wrong but I was told the new draft is tommorow on Raw.

Veecee,
HBK can't really be in the title hunt because he doesn't work full time.

I'd rank the matches

HBK Flair

Taker Edge

MITB

Show vs PBF

Bunny Mania solely for Santino being awesome.

Triple Threat Match. It was a good match but given that its the 3 biggest guys in the company I expected a lot more.

Finlay JBL

Batista Umaga

I'm not even ranking Kane Chavo becasue it wasn't a real match.

Close, he tagged with him in 3 minute warning.

"The WWE needs changes. I heard Kevin Nash was backstage at WM, that might be interesting...although he is old, whatever, the guy is awesome."

The biggest change the WWE needs is to stop with the type of thinking that brands a 50 year old guy with 3 moves as "awesome".

He's still good on the mic though and can draw. Just please don't put him in the ring or let him book.
