am I missing something? I see people talking like these are actually wrestling matches, saying there is no way xyz would beat xyz.

I thought people watched it for pure entertainment and the luulz, but maybe some of you are delusional?

The reasons Shawn wouldn't beat Taker at WM and Rock wouldn't beat Cena are political in nature, not athletic. Backstage politics are fascinating to wrestling fans.

411 reporting that Umaga is brain dead.

on the contrary, they are saying that BECAUSE the outcomes are pre-determined, sometimes there is an outcome that is very obvious, b/c it's the only one that makes sense.

i assume you are talking about how there is no way The Rock can beat John Cena, right? Well, The Rock is a part-timer at best, and Cena is the company's lynchpin, so obviously they are going to make Cena look good.

Sure is. Earlier this year he was given the choice between going to rehab or being released by the WWE, and he chose the latter.

He actually cleared up all his problems with the company, got clean, and was guaranteed a spot in the company after the Hulkamania tour of Aus with an expected return sometime early in the new year.

I always liked Umaga. Such a big loss to wrestling and he was probably the ultimate example of his niche gimmick as unstoppable monster.

Went to a TNA house show in Mass. last night. It was ok, a little fun, but was disappointed at the two main event matches, Wolfe vs. Angle and Daniels vs. Styles. I understand Angle is beat-up and all, but the first 10 min. of his match and Styles match were freakin armbars and headlocks, and both got boring chants.

- Beer Money Inc. and The British Invasion put on the best match by far, lots of false finishes, lots of mic-work and promo, and just a good match. BMI were the only guys that actually mentioned the place they were wrestling at (Amherst, Ma/Umass)!.

- Matt Morgan and Sheik Abdul Bashir put on a fun little match, too.

- TBP may not be great wrestlers but they are great at getting cheap heat

- WTF @ having Abyss/Dr. Stevie being a squash match when they've been feuding this long?

- AJ got busted open the hard way, nice to see a little hardcore action

- Borash did a great job getting the crowd involved, albeit maybe 800-1000 people there in a 10k arena.

- Sick seats maybe 20 yards from ringside on lower level for $23, unfathomable how people pay $60 for floor seats at a house show that had no chance of selling out, but I can see how it might be worth it to some.

Ok seriously, when do these dicks plan on turning Cena heel? Yeah yeah I know kids merchandise etc etc, but come on the guy can bring so much more to the table as a heel, even if he doesn't return completely to his old rapper roots. He's been booked as a superhuman face for the last 5 years, and it was already stale to me when he was feuding with Edge like 2.5/3 years ago (the feud which solidified Edge as my favorite wrestler, I love me the bad guys) I know I'm beating a dead horse, but the expressions I'm imagining on the young fans in attendence if Cena had an epic heel turn would be worth the price alone.

Thought Mark Cuban did a pretty good job tonight, took a decent bump through the table at the end....first full episode of RAW I've watched in awhile, the MNF game didn't interest me too much

How was Impact?? I totally forgot about it, meant to watch it haven't caught an episode of it in forever, but the wrestling draft in SE has motivated me to go through another wrestling phase that usually occurs every 3 or 4 years and lasts for around 8-12 months

Not seen it yet, prob will tonight, but i heard it was good.

Also Cena turning heel wont happen before Mania given the company is hoping to have Rock come in heel working the crowd with the usual "i left wrestling cos you all suck, im the best wrestler ever but im too good for the industry" etc.

If Rock comes back, works heel and still gets face reactions maybe that will be the start of the turn and potentially Cena could face turn in the match at mania. But thats pure speculation. One thing to note is that Rock has said in interviews that Cena is substandard because he has only been the very best as a good guy, until you have been the very best as a bad guy your not even close to being the best in the industry.

Dunno if he would have felt the sting on reading that but it wouldnt surprise me at all for Cena to want to turn heel and also want to work more adventurous matches.

But yeah, back to the point, there is a very good chance he wont work as a heel unless the crowd totally turns on him. There are rumblings of crowd backlash but its still a minority and in PG WWE having a reliable good guy face to front the company is worth much more overall even if it means the actual matches you see suffer for it.

A good example of why this doesnt matter is Khali. He is shockingly bad in the ring, but the people WWE is currently marketing to dont know the difference between a good wrestler and a bad one.

The driving force of WWE right now knows nothing about wrestling, neither its history nor the finer points of the matches, hell i wouldnt be shocked if a fairly large percent of those at WM didnt know who Stone Cold was when he gave his farewell. This is why there is no real innovation in the company right now. The biggest idea they have had, according to them, is the guest host stuff on Raw. And some of that has been brutally bad with hosts not knowing anything about the industry and even Ventura after his hosting slot distanced and generally put down the industry.

Good stuff, thanks for the knowlege. What happened with Ventura? I didn't catch that episode. Are you saying he was a bad host, or that he was dissatisfied with the company in some way, or something else?
