Bump for tonight. Please try to be entertaining you two, otherwise this game will be quite boring for me.

I wanted to write "you too" to piss off LKJ but it felt too dirty.

Well here's the thing: ~3 out of 4 times, the good guys are losing this game. It's difficult for me to muster pregame trash talk when I'm expecting that a loss is the likelier result. That said, two points:
1. If we win this one, we enter the conversation of legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
2. If we win, I will get to show what a morally upright role model I am by not engaging in any post-game taunting.

So, the upside is tremendous. And admittedly I might be being a bit more pessimistic than I should. Considering that both of the 49ers' losses were absolute tramplings, they're obviously far from invincible.

While i really want to watch this game, it will be on at the same time as game 4 of the NLCS, and that will be getting the majortiy of my attention

Must be nice to have a baseball team remain relevant past May 1st.

Unfortunately the firing of Mike Singletary has taken this out of my arsenal.

Jim Harbaugh is a massive douchebag, but the soundbites haven't been there. "I guess I shook his hand too hard" never really caught on.

For what it's worth, Russell Wilson is beginning to emerge and might actually be better than Alex Smith already. That's more of a low opinion of Smith than anything, since I'm like a week removed from hollering for Wilson to get benched.

I know it's been a dozen years since the M's were in the playoffs, but I still do remember it.

Soul-crushing playoff defeats are still way better than what happens in the modern day.

Well agree with this, but being in first nearly all season and ****ing it up the last 2 weeks of the regular season is tough to swallow.

as much as i wanna partake in this, this game is concurrent with gm 4 of the NLCS and the giants are my first love and have my full attention on the matter

irrelevant anyway as seattle has some midget qb who won't survive tonight

Baseball is just so far down the list from football that I can only see baseball (even playoff baseball) taking precedence when you have an irrelevant football team. Which, sadly, you've stopped having for a fleeting couple of years.

For me, Baseball>>>Football>>>Basketball>>>Hockey.

Thats pretty much just based on my team allegiances. If I were watching a game without my team involved, football is barely ahead of baseball.

Among the big four, baseball is actually the last one I can watch when it isn't my team. I just don't follow the rest of the MLB, so my knowledge of other teams is at a very casual fan level. Part of the problem is that when the M's aren't in the race, what the **** am I supposed to do when the playoffs come?

I won't root for division rivals in the playoffs ever, so out with the Rangers, A's, Angels.
I won't root for the Yankees or Red Sox because **** both of them.
I won't root for an expansion team like Tampa to succeed because it buries the Mariners even further down the all-time franchise list for a newer team to accomplish stuff before we do.
I won't root for the White Sox, Indians, or Tigers because **** Cleveland/Detroit/Chicago fanbases. Admittedly I'm softer on the White Sox than the others because I'm under the impression that the idiocy of the Chicago fanbase has largely congregated in Wrigley Field, so I prefer them to Cleveland/Detroit on some level. But then again, Hawk Harrelson is the most annoying douche in the history of broadcasting, so that brings them back down.
So that leaves what? Minnesota, a domed team? Toronto, a Canadian team? Kansas City, a glorified farm team?

I have no reason to dislike Baltimore, so I guess I was glad that they were in the mix.

Naturally I know the AL teams more just because it's who the Mariners play. I don't really know the NL teams at all. So then I'm basically stuck with a World Series every year where I default to rooting for some team I'm unfamiliar with.

I mean I hate the NBA too, but that's about David Stern and Clay Bennett raping my home state of its team in the most underhanded way possible.

Positive symptoms of a return of the Sonics, and a Sonics return combined with either the retirement or preferably the death of David Stern would have me back in the fold as someone who follows the NBA again.

But like even when the Seahawks and WSU Cougars suck - and yes, this is most years - I love watching the rest of the NFL and NCAA football.

NHL playoffs, I'm always down for watching those. Even the NBA still ropes me into watching a series here or there...like this past year, spite-rooting against the Thunder kept me interested. MLB, I honestly barely tune in after the Mariners are done.

Id rather watch football and hockey playoffs than nba or mlb playoffs without a team involved, but I love pretty much everything about baseball at this point. I probably watched ~250-300 games this season.

Also, to be completely honest, I think the total destruction of anything worth watching on television (I am but a lowly poverty struck student and cant afford hbo and showtime) has led to me watching pretty much only sports, which in turn leads to me having a much larger interest in baseball and football.

Plus, one of the biggest reasons I love baseball, particularly with my team involved, is that nearly every day there is a game to watch. Football is brutal, especially during bye weeks, and basketball is a pretty decent ratio, but I hate when I'm free one night and theres no game, and busy the next and theres a good game.

At any rate, I get the hate for baseball because I can certainly understand it being boring, but when people comment on how boring my favorite sport is then turn around and watch dancing with the stars, or honey boo **** or jersey shore, I want someone to rape and pillage their home.

I think the scarcity of football games is what makes it so wonderful.

Getting upset or excited about a result of an early-season baseball game = irrational
Getting upset or excited about a result of an early-season football game = rational

That's what cranks every football game up to 11.

One time when I was in Canada I went to see Toronto Bluejays vs Boston Red Sox. We sat in the $7 seats right at the top and Toronto lost 9-0 although we left like halfway through cos it went on forever and was boring. That's my baseball story.

lebron james ruined basketball. that's all it comes down to

i mean, i don't begrudge him for playing where he wants to play, but i do begrudge the culture that resulted from it of loyalty only to nightlife and 5 relevant markets. basically the only way you can field a competitive team is be a huge city or be horrible enough to luck into drafting a transcendent player. basically leaves 20 teams in the dust for a decade

Its like we're soul mates. Except for fantasy basketball. The only thing i partake in that comes close to the NBA is watching Cuban on Shark Tank
