Didn't really think I'd get into this match, as I've struggled to get into Davey Richards, but I liked it a lot. Both teams seemed to work well together, and it never quite got to ROH-ish levels of cartoonishness wrestling.
Good list, can only hope that the G1 Finals from last night eventually get uploaded, on the topic of this match, I've got to bring up how much of a mark Ferg is for their Space Suits, huge space lover, hence their name. Hadn't seen this match since I first saw it in January, but re-watching, still a great watch, I'm just a mark for the NJPW Super Jnrs, and Fergal specifically.

More stuff about Steen attacking fans at ringside yesterday.

Quote:
- Kevin Steen's show-closing assault on two fans at ROH Boiling Point is reportedly a work. The plan came from Hunter Jonhnston and was intended to get legit heat on Kevin Steen after his heel turn at "Best in the World" failed. Both of the "fans" were told to sell the attack as a fan would, as opposed to a wrestrler, and the second fan--who wrestlers as "Mighty Mini" Mark Bourne in the Northeast indies, was hit full in the face after he turned the wrong way.

Both men on the receiving end of the attack were students of Bob Evans

Exactly, it's just another example of Jim Cornette not knowing what gets over in 2012 though. He still books as if ROH is SMW and the year is 1990. Although to be fair, if Cornette says they're turning Steen heel, then it's Steens job to think of ways to adjust his character too, so the fans don't like him.

More making out with dudes should solidify his heel turn.

Re: ***Official Indy/Puro Thread***

i don't really have a list of 2012 matches from indys/puro. Their hasn't been a NJPW event available for d/l since their May ppv which makes me . BJW and AJPW have gotten good but I just haven't watched much of them yet. Anything with Daisuke Sekimoto is really good from what I've seen, he's like a better Kensuke Sasaki imo. ROH is **** now and aside from Richards/Elgin that got 5* there really hasn't been a great ROH match. In PWG Young Bucks vs Future Shock has been getting a lot of praise but again no stand out match besides that one.

Cole vs OReilly at ROH Best in the World was a really good match. Overcame the stupid ass rules that could have sunk it, and produced a legit ****1/4 match IMO.

The problem that ROH is having is not in the ring. The booking is bad. Workrate wise, these guys are still the best in the USA.

Is that YB vs Future Shock from the Death to everything but metal PPV?

One of the things I've found that I don't like about RoH is just that the crowd refuses to "play along" and like someone else mentioned it's going to be almost impossible to turn Steen. As was also mentioned Cornette is somewhat stuck in a past where kayfabe was alive and well and he just hasn't adjusted his style well.

For what it's worth, it would be awesome if he pushed RoH into more of a tradional kayfabe-era fed, but it would hard with the knowledge level of their fans along with their match-style which is more of an athletics demonstration than anything resembling a traditional pro wrestling match featuring an in-ring story and psychology.

Re: ***Official Indy/Puro Thread***

See, Yankeys has got it in 1. The ROH fanbase is a predominatly smark fanbase, which goes against Cornettes strengths of being able to manipulate crowds. Smarks know what they like, and won't let anyone change it, but if you look at SMW in the 90s, which was a fanbase full of hicks who were complete marks, he maniulated the **** out of them and got the desired reactions, and I'm sure if he were writing / booking for TNA or WWE, he could get some good storylines, but we all know the problems which will stop either of those happening.

ROH was prime in 2005/6 when they had a strong roster of great workers, who knew that the only real storylines the fans would buy is supershows, and cards based on seeing someone they love vs the champion who they love, but jeer as he's such a good worker (Dragon). When they got TV, their style had to change massively to suit TV, it did, and soon the aura surrounding ROH and it's fans largely died, the internet hype was cut short and they became TNA lite which was their death, but at the end of the day, the companies business model was extremely flawed, and left them in huge debt until the sale.

PWGs model is a huge success as they are a monthly company who put out fantastic shows, in (or near) a metropolis city with a massive population, sell out every show, and know they can rely on the large national and international DVD sales to push them in to profitability, if anything, they are 2006 ROH, in everything but schedule and need to fly in huge names from opposite sides of the US as they use LA local guys mainly. Visca PWG!

Wow that was unreal. The Young Bucks have WWE written all over them - the best bits of E & C and The Hardyz combined. Don't know why Kyle O'Reilly gets the push that he does so boring.

I get what you are saying here, but Punk is having the same trouble in the WWE. What's good for the goose...

I have not checked out PWG ( sounds like some research is in order) Some of the best matches of the Cena era of WWE were in ROH IMO.

Having Cornette book ROH at this point makes things dated. I have a problem with how things are going in the company, but I am willing to give them the time and effort to get them back up there. Steen was the reason why I came back to ROH, but they do still have that depth of talent that may save them, despite Cornette's booking, simply because the smarks will still continue to follow them. Once ROH loses their talent, it won't matter who is booking them.

President Sugabayashi and G1 Climax winner Kazuchika Okada called a press conference earlier to formally give the Rainmaker the right to challenge whoever the IWGP Heavyweight Champion is at the Tokyo Dome on January 4th. A certificate was signed meaning New Japan can’t renege on the deal and Okada is guaranteed the main event slot at the biggest Japanese pro wrestling event of 2013.
'dis gon be good imo. after having just watched that tanahashi vs okada match i'm up for a rematch esp if the matches just keep getting better.

njpw has MitB?

also, MiSu hair > Okada.

I remember reading has was supposed to defend his title shot through to Jan 4th, which could've made for some great matches, but giving him it unconditionally sounds good also.

On the hair topic, I'm referring to:

The haircut looks so main event (Viffer colouring lols) it's unreal.

Re: ***Official Indy/Puro Thread***

OK, just finished watching Threemendous III and all I can say is !£RUBQWNAKSMQ{WOJMK!

Holy **** at the main event! It's not by any means a MOTYC, but for the spotfest it was, I ****ing loved it. All the craziness you'd expect from a Triple Threat Tag Team Ladder match. Nick Jacksons ladder to top rope suicida was amazing, the top of the ladder superplex through the table - mental, just everything including RICK ****ING KNOX doing a tope suicida after pushing the Jacksons off the top of the ladder to assist SSB FTW. Brilliant!

The show overall wasn't one of PWGs best IMO, Steen Vs Mack was a slight styles clash to me and the pacing was off, but Willie Mack took some BRUTAL postings which make the match worth seeing alone.

I'm a huge fan of the Rockness Monsters, but they don't work as a heel team, but Chuckie T was very good on his PWG return also in the tag match.

Overall ****, and if that doesn't say it all that I gave 4 stars to an average PWG show, then god knows what will. As I said earlier in this thread VISCA PWG!

I haven't seen any of the show besides the ladder match. That Nick J. part you mentioned was ****ing awesome and just lol at all the Rick Knox stuff. Loved the ending with him. Definitely a match I plan on watching again very soon.

I've yet to see an entire PWG show but d/l'ed all of the 2011 shows to get a better seeding ratio and thinking about watching all of them.

Have not watched a DGUSA show since they started up in late 09, which was great stuff btw. May have to check this show out if it brings out the first mention of it in this forum.

I am more stoked for tonight's $10 iPPV then any WWE PPV since Punk MITB I guess. Elimination match for the title should be sick. Also looking forward to the Chikara tag match Jigsaw/FireAnt v. Super Smash Bros.

have read some reviews today of the previous two shows and they look solid, esp. the Callihan/Generico match. can't find a copy of either show on torrent sites yet though.

Tonight was probably the weakest of the three shows but was still a good value for $10 compared to $55 for WWE. Main event booking was sort of dumb and the crowd seemed dead but I will check out their next iPPV for sure.
