no bad matches per se but it felt like an ROH TV taping not counting the main event. still 100x better than what WWE garbage i will be seeing later.

DDT4 seems like it's going to be completely awesome and an early contender for show of the year...

First round matches:
Steen/Generico vs Briscoes
Elgin/Cage vs Super Smash Bros.
Ricochet/Swann vs Young Bucks
Edwards/Strong vs Future Shock

Ridiculous kind of spoiler for WrestleKingdom 7 on the 4th.

Spoiler:
There may be another shooters angle coming up in 2013. Playboy magazine in Japan had a story saying the New Japan wrestlers are against bringing in MMA fighters but that president Takaaki Kidani is considering it. The story had Tanahashi saying that the wrestlers want the promotion to stay doing pro wrestling style, that Antonio Inoki has contacted the company about appearing at the Tokyo Dome which would be his first appearance at a show for the promotion he founded and was the face of for decades. Owner Kidani did an interview critical of New Japan President Naoki Sugabayashi who said they need to keep MMA out of pro wrestling and slammed using Kazushi Sakuraba and Katsuyori Shibata. However, the story said Kidani would be appearing with Sakuraba. We’ll have to see how this plays out and this sounds like Kidani is going to do the heel owner gimmick trying to create an NWO-like group of MMA fighters with Inoki as the retired version of Hogan.

Regardless, really looking forward to this just over two weeks away from Tanahashi vs Okada III

Got around to watching Steen/Generico from Final Battle a few days ago. It seemed like there was an awful lot of setting stuff up and no action. Also the crowd seemed dead which I was pretty surprised at. The commentary was fine but in comparison to Excalibur in PWG there's just no contest at which one is more entertaining. So all in all I much prefer their PWG match because it's just a much more fun atmosphere but the ROH match wasn't bad but not great or anything.

PWG's Failure to Communicate is up for d/l now. Already some good reviews for Young Bucks vs Generico/Omega and Steen vs Elgin vs Ricochet. d/l'ing now and hyped to watch those . Looks like a damn good card bar the opener with Joey Ryan.

GenericOmega vs YBs was pretty good. Got boring in some spots but it was a fun match overall. With Omega you know it's going to be fun because he is one of the most creative guys in this business and he always does something wacky which is really fun to watch.

Steen/Elgin/Ricochet was meh. Elgin did his power thing, Ricochet did his aerial thing, and Steen did his whatever wrestling he usually does thing. Pretty much them getting their spots in and ending it. Definition of a spotfest imo.

Watching these matches makes me really want to see a Ricochet vs Omega match. That has to have happened already somewhere. Seems like a real dream match.

bad news out of PWGs DDT4 tournament. El Generico is injured, and is out of the tournament. taking his spot on Kevin Steen's team will be Willie Mack. the new team name, "2 not-so-skinny white dudes".

from another website:

Quote:
Listening to the latest Meltzer/Alverez podcast on the Observer site. Kidani wanted both Shibata and Sakuraba to win at the Dome and then bring in even more MMA guys. The New Japan guys basically had Vietnam level flashbacks to the Inoki days and there was a big political fight that ended with both of them losing and Kidani quitting which is an issue because even if he had epically terrible booking notions his money is a big reason business is up and pissing off the money in general is never a good idea.

Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani is reportedly stepping down according to Tokyo Sports. Kidani apparently brought in Sakuraba and Shibata without even telling Jado and Gedo, while two of New Japan’s biggest and most influential stars Tanahashi and Nakamura opposed the move. Kidani is a big pro wrestling fan who enjoyed the ‘shoot’ influence of the 80s and 90s and tried to bring some of it back with Laughter7′s invasion. However it seems some in New Japan are not in favour of this and the pressure may lead to Kidani’s exit. There was also talk of Kidani becoming an on-screen heel owner ala Eric Bischoff with the idea of an nWo style group pitched. There is the possibility of this being some sort of storyline especially as Kidani has been quite an innovative and progressive head figure since Bushiroad bought New Japan with things like the internet PPVs that allow us foreigners to watch New Japan coming from him. And despite the apparent opposition to Laughter7′s arrival in New Japan, the storyline played out very well culminating with one of the best matches I have seen in years yesterday, Nakamura vs. Sakuraba.
this story is full of lols but at least it did lead to a great match in the Dome.

Outstanding New Japan ippv!

The 3 way of Devitt, Low Ki and Kota Ibushi brought tears to my eyes it was so good. I'm probably a bigger Ibushi fan than most and I thought this match was just fantastic. Loved every minute of it. Surprised Shibata didn't get the win. Lance Archer and Davey Boy Smith has really found their calling in New Japan. They come out looking like huge stars and have a presence that they didn't have when they were in the US.
Nakamura and Sakuraba was just fantastic. And LOL at WWE might have a hand in the finish of the Tanahashi vs Okada match. Overall a fantastic ippv.

I got some tidbits. I'll post more if I get any from reading the Observer newsletter this week.

Apparently WWE wants Okada in a very big way. They like him a lot and he's tall with a good look. Okada had a run in TNA a few years back when he was very young (don't know why he would want to come back after that disaster). But anyways, that might have a hand in the booking of that match as New Japan will see how that situation plays out. WWE could offer Okada a lot of money and who knows what will happen. Okada has a good spot in NJPW so I think it's ridiculous for him to leave but who knows.

Look for Karl Anderson to face Tanahashi on upcoming ippv.

As stated above, huge turmoil after the ippv. Kidani has quit over the handling of Shibata and Sakuraba.

There are rumblings about Shelton Benjamin, MVP and Low Ki. Apparently there is talks that WWE are interested in bringing back MVP and Benjamin (who wants to go back). Low Ki is a bit unsure right now. Some sources within New Japan have said they really are not sure about those 3 and things could happen. I think the guy WWE should bring in is Prince Devitt. He would fit very nicely with WWE.
